I have no idea I can't get it, But I'll tell you I'm not thrilled about the way they're doing it now. I'm sorry but to give it to only to children with autism is ridiculous, they're not paying for their attractions in the vacations the adults are and there are adults that need that DAS service. There's other places that go in Florida and the United States besides Disney World.

I thought you cannot ask for actual formal proof documents in the US? ADA rule of privacy or emotional protection or something like that? I have used a DAS equivalent for the Tokyo Disney parks, but it requires forms with medical paperwork filled by a doctor and time for that to be reviewed by the park. I also have to answer at each ride what tasks I can perform (standing, follow instructions, sit, walk a step, etc). Of course, there is also the rule that if I am lying about my condition, or my documents are faked, I would be ejected from the park and not allowed a disability pass again. I am surprised Disney Parks America did not have a rule about lying already and it's only added with these new changes.

We were approved for DAS on our recent trip to Disney World (May 22-28). Our son is profoundly autistic. We did the video call with a cast member about a week before our trip. It was a very positive experience. I hate that Disney has had to tighten their eligibility rules, but I have no doubt the system was taken advantage of by many who didn’t truly need it!

As an actual permanently Disabled person i have found for years that the Disney corporation has discriminated against disabled people for many years, i live only 11 miles from Disneyland and have been going there since before i remember and after i became disabled and electric wheelchair bound it was more important to my emotional and physical health then ever to have a place to go where it was park like with trees and hope and happiness to provide positivity for my life dealing with several life threatening illnesses, but when Disney started literally "cracking" down on disabled people i no longer felt welcome and it became a place of negativity for me to the point where i went less and less then i stopped altogether and havent gone back in years and now i have nowhere to go and spend my days laying in my bed. Now i have been paying attention to all that has been reported so far and i feel that this is almost a "war" Disney has started against the sick and injured, why, why is that? To say to the public that only people who are Autistic are to be considered "disabled" shows an outright ignorance of even the most rudimentary medicine i can only come to the conclusion that they dont want someone making a noisy "fuss" in a long line that might annoy other people in line. But now i am hearing horror stories how Disney is sometimes not even allowing Autistic people to be helped out so that they dont have to be in long lines what is that all about? There are hundreds of "hidden" illnesses that make people with them have a very hard time dealing with day to day life. I could go on for hours about people being told to "well wear diapers then" or "practice being immobile in a long line at home first so you can get used to it" etc etc but i dont need to clearly Disney Corp is blatantly Discriminating against the Disabled for their profit and feel they are too "big" for any one to do anything about it, I call on everyone who is negatively affected by all this to find out all the things they can do to put a stop to this contact local, state and federal offices that protect the ones who can protect themselves not so I or others like me can go and spend a lot of money at this corporations venues I dont want to go anywhere near these places anymore but to stop this sort of inhumane treatment of those who still have a wish or a dream that life can be hopeful no matter how ill you may be.

My one question is why does it take a cast member that doesn’t have any medical background to decide whether you qualify for DAS they don’t have remotely what they talking about. Doesn’t this new policy violate so many laws under the ADA as well.

Which they never are for the ones she likes and I can I only do the que thing if I have more then 3 ppl because if I don’t have someone to hold my place in line, i basically just can’t go on the those rides. Tell Disney how you feel with your pocketbook and wallet - stop going. Telling people to buy Genie+ in place of DAS is plain wrong and some DAS cast members have said this to callers. Genie+ a paid service, by the way, is why I think Disney has made the changes to DAS. We took our last Disney trip 2 weeks ago. The only reason we went was because I was grandfathered in under the old rules. Disney used to promote itself as inclusive and family friendly. Now, they're neither. Read that Cast Members at rides can give out Return to Queue passes but they're being monitored and discouraged from handing out too many.

The biggest difference was their disability access methods were terrible and we hated it enough that we won't go back. We spent ALL day there and only got to go on a few rides. We'd sit near one of the rides and see that even though we were given a ridiculously long que (like 300 minutes, no joke), the line was moving all the way through in like 45 mins. That's just dumb.

I'm sorry and I don't mean to say this in a rude manner but to give the DAS to only children who have autism is not appropriate, some of these children are not able to utilize many of the attractions. The way I look at it Disney is becoming a company that is slowly getting away from customer service and only wanting money. They may not give you the DAS pass but you can sure pay for a lightning lane to get on that ride if you want to. The thing that bothers me the most about restricting the DAS so much it cost Disney nothing to give that to someone You're only giving someone a lightning lean pass one or two times a day depending on the wait times. It's not our fault that people were abusing this or it's not other people's fault that so many people were utilizing it. DAS is a service and people were using it.

She has never been denied the DAS pass (or whatever they called it 10+ years ago). We just purchased the top level passes ($1750 each) in March. Then Disney made this DAS change, basically only giving DAS to autistic people. My understanding is that now she will be denied the DAS pass, which means we pretty much won't be able to go to Disneyland much more at all during the last 8 months of our magic key. Can we get a pro-rated refund of our passes given that Disney changed the terms after we bought our pass? I'm sure the answer will be no.

Like you said, to make it even worse, they put this in effect suddenly, but we've been booked for 6 months already, and my wife has had DAS twice in the past, so we had no reason to think it wouldn't be available. It's really the only reason we could do Disney as a family before. I'd describe her situation, but as with everyone else knows who has a disabled relative, I shouldn't have to, and it doesn't matter. But she has MS, and of course, we were denied along with everyone else. I could tell as soon as the "medical professional" started talking to her, they weren't going to approve her. I'm still going to try to make it work because of how disappointed my girls would be if we told them our trip was cancelled (plus dealing with the fight to get all our money back from them and the airlines), but Disney will never see us again after this trip. It is absurd, but this is yet another example of how bad people ruin good things for the majority.

I was just declined a third time. I won’t try again. I had to talk to several “medical professionals.” The last lady was supposed to be a neuro psychologist. I didn’t get a reason for the denial, just told that there are other accommodations available. Then I was sent a link to the generic webpage for tips to cope with being in line. The cast member did say that my husband could wait outside the line with me, but she wouldn’t explain more. It’s up to the cast members at each ride. It’s just the 2 of us and there’s usually not a cast member to be found throughout the queues, so I’m not optimistic about it. Also, I don’t feel comfortable explaining to dozens of cast members why I need a return time.

@@kylaedge901 so sorry to hear that. The supervisor that my wife talked to did say that you are not supposed to have to explain anything to them, just walk up and tell them you need to do the return to queue option. I have a hard time believing that, because if that's all it takes, why wouldn't every person walk up and try that? Talk about encouraging abuse of the system! If they aren't going to do full DAS, they should at least give the people that need that option a lanyard or something. I'm really pessimistic about how this is going to turn out, but I can't cancel it on my kids at this point.

Do you have actual numbers from Disney? or are you just using FB and social media posts to get your information? The only question that is asked is why an individual cannot wait in a traditional queue. To put your comments to it, it is not about the disability. Just to take your comment about a heart transplant, while I do not know exactly about a heart, I can tell you I know someone on the kidney transplant list who is listed as disabled by state, but he has no issues waiting in queues. I guess I do not understand your point a lot here. Seems like a lot of social media and speculation. You can cancel as well within 30 days. The policy isn't that restrictive. Thats also a social media thing thats just not true. I guess I should have waited until the end, DIsney World has also removed many of the second touch points, some still have them, but the rumor is that Disney is attempting to remove all second touch points. My biggest point, don't trust all of what you are reading on social media. I had a child approved with the new system with an acute medical condition so its not all being denied.

So happy that your child was approved its such wonderful news for you and your family! Hoping everyone who needs DAS has the same luck. No, no one has "real" numbers its just stories that are coming out...you take it how you want. I don't think half of these people would come on to make up a story about why they got denied. Of course you have to take everything with a grain of salt but you have to admit some of these stories are heartbreaking.

@@HappyTravelVlogs some yes. Sone come off as the reason why Disney made the changes. I honestly think it will work itself out. But it will only work if people try the other accommodations being suggested instead of just saying they won’t work. I saw a story today about a person complaining their mother wasn’t granted one because she cannot stand and is in a scooter. To me that shouldn’t have gotten a das for the last 10 years. At least since the GAC system. Yet they did.the post honestly read like the family was using the elderly mother. Then yes you read one who has uncontrolled type 1 diabetes and they want part of the family to wait separate. That I don’t agree with. But the thing is it’s something like 60% of visitors have a disorder, condition or disability that many say should be blanket acceptance. That’s an insane number. Then add family to that. So that’s why disney asks. Why you cannot wait in a traditional line. Then they make the accommodations from there. Only way to say their suggestions other than das doesn’t work is to first try. Then if it doesn’t work call in while there. Instead of automatically assuming they won’t work and going to social media to vent. Some stories are hard to read. Others are understandable for Disney to try to figure out a new system. When they got rid of GAC a decade ago. If you read the reasons they were changing it is almost identical to today. It’s just there was no or limited social media. People were saying das won’t be as accommodating as GAC but it didn’t turn out that way now. So let’s just see how it plays out.

I'm disgusted by this as an autistic teenager. Disney is one of my special interests and I was so excited for my trip next year but now I doubt I am going to qualify. It's not just being denied, its the WAY we are being denied. The fact some random ass non-autistic person gets to decide who is "autistic enough" to get a DAS is absolutely sickening. I have a professional diagnosis from an actual doctor. That is enough proof. End of story. Cast member's personal bias over autism will 100% affect who they decide to give DAS to, so if you aren't Sheldon Cooper then you really don't have a chance. Due to being late diagnosed, I am used to masking, so therefore I don't present stereotypically autistic but I DO get sensory overload and need DAS. Being older, being female, or even being a POC could affect your chances since you dont fit within the stereotype of autism the cast member has in their head. Autism is a SPECTRUM, and there is no way someone who works at DISNEY for a living would be able to determind your needs in a 20 minute conversation. And they are 100% doing this for the money. If they are worried about people faking, then just ask for offical proof of diagnosis from a doctor! Thats very hard to fake and will have all the information about the persons needs available to read. Plus its way more private and professional. I could probably ask for a doctors note/email from my therapist right now if they need more recent proof. But no, they are going to deny pretty much everyone so they buy the overpriced service. And the fact that there is now in-fighting in disability spaces is so disappointing. Its times like this where disabled people and their families should be working TOGETHER to protest! Not having immature fights over whos more disabled than the other. My trip is 14 months away so I hope there will be some changes by then but my heart goes out to all my fellow disabled people who will be affected by this.

We support each other as a team and I begged for us to be able to have DAS so we could wait together and support each other. They refused. They gave us return to queue and my eldest was verbally abused when we came back in. I had to tell at least 30 strangers about our diagnosis. We were refused a return time for a 20 minute wait. The wait increased to 40 minutes and I had to get a cast member to help us out and she came and got us and walked us through the line to the front which was mortifying for my daughters 😢

I don't know what qualifications employees have or why Disney does what it does, but I imagine if they see a calm child or one that can respond rationally to questions they probably see one that can stand in a line.
