Good news buddy

The best thing this lifts from its obvious Rayman inspiration is the absolutely tight stretchy character controls. Everyone stops exactly where you expect them to and jumps exactly as you want. No skidding or floating or feeling like the game cheated you out of a jump. If you're a big platform fan it tickles that comfortable feel. Very glad I picked it up.

Rayman Legends + Super Mario 3D World is what I got from the trailers.

I am so glad they are keeping the illusion series alive through nods, last one was on 3DS. They are the best mickey platformers available.

@@zigslotheon I would say very loosely they both I think are paying homage in the title, power of illusion on the 3ds also in a lot of the gameplay. I just think it is cool that they are keeping the name alive.

This reminds me of the World of Illusion game I used to play as a kid on Sega. Same vibes. I loved that game.

Hard not to like this game. A finding that will probably go unnoticed by many people.

Fun game!! Had it since launch day and just beat the main story. So glad they allow respawning a lot in levels other games aren't as forgiving.

My wife and I got this game because we love Disney, and we love how tight the platforming is! Great game for Disney fans and platforming fans in general.

Disney illusion island, this game's visual style is beautiful and platforming looks so nice. 😊

The lead character designer for this game also worked on Battletoads 2020 if I'm not mistaken

When Mickey said "No idea" at the end, I felt that. Classic mickey! :)

Man, I almost forgot that this game was releasing today. Definitely going to be playing this soon; Mickey Mouse was not the IP I thought would get a Rayman-like platformer, but I'm not complaining in the slightest.

I've been playing every day since release, and it's quite enjoyable!

I bought the game and have some of the same thoughts. A little “combat” would have added some nice diversity. And I think they could have added elements like that without allocating attacks that damage enemies. I think Mickey could have maybe been able to draw things like barriers to block or bubbles to float enemies away. Minnie could maybe spray water from her flower and stop enemies from moving. Donald could maybe get angry and yell scaring them away. Goofy could have sprayed them with syrup making them stuck. And then you could have found things to improve their ability range, amount, etc.

In the early days. Huey, Dewey and Louie were real terrors. They calm down much later on in the Carl Barks comics and you can see this in both iterations of DuckTales. But in the early cartoons and comic strips they were destructive forces of nature. I imagine they wrecked Donald's house but don't know for certain.

Same thing applies for Pluto. I think they can work is great characters. Only problem is they want to make the game 4 player and a 6 player platformer would be a living nightmare let’s just hope in the future they do make DLC and include them

To be fair, the three musketeers and mickey and the beanstalk took place in books or musketeers’ case a comic book. So… maybe they are still canon. Not sure about KH. Maybe that hasn’t happened yet.

It's a given that some of those stories would be films they made because for them to be medieval knights, musketeers and things like that they'd have to be 100s of years old. Even Mickey and the Beanstalk would have to take place during Little House on The Prarie times, late 1800s to early 1900s for it to even work. Kingdom Hearts is a complete alternate reality. For so many reasons that I could take days explaining why. Once you get to the second KH game, this becomes blatantly obvious. In the Wonderful Spring of Mickey Mouse, Mickey Mouse's Keyblade shows up among Mickey Mouse's junk, so in that world Kingdom Hearts is just a film or cartoon series, or heck possibly a video game series Mickey stars in via mo-cap. Goes without say that Disney characters exist among several alternate realities. For most of the classic characters, you can usually boil it down to two variants. Ones where they star in cartoons and films and ones where they don't. And even with those two distinctions you still have several universes.

@@masterplay148 That's correct. Side note, comic book artist Don Rosa believed that Donald Duck was famous solely because he went on adventures and expeditions with Scrooge McDuck. In the comic strips and comic books, Donald Duck was not a movie star. Don Rosa believed that Mickey Mouse and Goofy were movie stars in this world. He wrote a story where Donald Duck went to Disney World to meet Mickey and Goofy. Disney outright rejected this story. For them in the comic strips and comics, Donald has his adventures traveling back and forth from Duckburg and Mickey and Goofy have their adventures traveling back and forth from Mouseton. None of them are movie stars in the world of comics. Don Rosa's story never left the thumbnail stage, but you could read his story as sketches in one of the TPBs. Naturally, that story is not canon to the comics because Disney said no. DuckTales 2017 did however honor Don Rosa's wishes for their world. Donald Duck had fame in their world for going on adventures with Scrooge McDuck, and Webby straight up says this in the first episode. Goof Troop is a reality / sitcom in this world and Goofy is an actor. There's an episode where a Television Company had an award in the background that was shaped like Mickey Mouse's ears, letting you know that Mickey is a movie star in this world too. DuckTales 1987 is very vague regarding if Donald Duck was a movie star or not before joining the Navy. Probably best left up to the viewers for them to decide. Me I don't think he was and the world mirrors Disney's intent fot the comics while 2017 mirrors Don Rosa's.
