During mindfull breathing i lose my normal subconscious breathing rhythm. It feels horrible as i struggle to breath. I haven't worked out how to simply observe my breaths without intervening in the process.. When i focus on them i consciously take over and things go down hill from there 😊. Any tips to overcome this so i can enjoy the practice?

Hello there; The difficulties you experience might be because you are not familiar with breathing in awareness. Suddenly when practicing like this for first time through your breath is noticeable to you how busy is your body and mind. Suddenly you realice that you are not calm. And that awareness is not bad on the contrary is great. You need to hold there. Not to worry. Don’t force your breathe. Just let it be as it comes. Keep breathing in awareness, concentration of your in/out breathing . Acknowledging all what is going on in your body, in your mind. Noticing in you all sensations whether these sensations are pleasant or unpleasant. And stay there in stillness regardless of the clumsiness manners your breathe appear, let it be just as it is. Treating yourself with kindnesses and patience. After twenty or 30 minutes open your eyes, bow to the Buddha, do some body stretching. I wish you well. Greetings 🙏

Oh my gosh I was the same way when i started yoga. It gets easier with time, I’m still not there yet but it’s easier. for now just breathe normally and focus on how the air feels as it enters/leaves your nose. It’ll be irregular and that’s ok

Yes, it's beginner's mindfulness... the intense focused attention disrupts the body's natural mechanical rhythms... try not to fret about it, maybe gaze out a window or at an object in your meditation room, or do a little walking meditation to break up that tension, and then return to sitting practice.

@@4LovePeace : Minfulness means to be aware of something. If one is practicing correctly, there is not disruption over the mechanic body functions but just awareness. Before awareness, something was there but the person was not aware of that something being there. Therefore, It is not a good idea “have a break” and focus into something else because by doing like that healing wouldn’t be possible. Running away from what arises it will only increment the problem. Healing, calmness, clear mind, insight... are amongst the multi-benefits when practicing correctly.
