DISCOVERING | Atlantic Salmon Fishing & Atlantic Salmon Stocking at LSSU
Episode 42 - The U.P. has world-class sport fishing for Atlantic salmon thanks to the Center for Freshwater Research and Education at Lake Superior State University. First I go fishing for Atlantic salmon with Jason Carstens of True North Guide Service on the St. Mary's River, where it pours into Lake Huron in the DeTour passage. Then I visit the Fish Hatchery at LSSU to see how they raise Atlantics and watch the big release this year.

I want to make a correction from a statement in the video. The adipose clipped Atlantics are from the MI DNR. The Atlantics with other fin clips are from Lssu.

You are correct. That is what the guide said. It might not have come across clearly. I could have also explained better when I said the students have a hand in all the fish because from what I understand is the MI-DNR raised Atlantics come from the student egg take too.
Complete success story on creating a awesome fishery by accident really. I look forward to the fall run in my local river every year now since we barely get any kings on the east side anymore
It's good they can restock the fish
Pretty darn cool! Both segments
What an awesome project that school has! This is awesome! As usual!
Great video - very pretty girl too!
