    I think most of the people commenting are forgetting something. He posted this because he COULD do it. Yes you can go buy an antenna but you will not get the satisfaction of tinkering and making something yourself that works. I appreciate the ingenuity here from the video poster. Try it folks, you just might enjoy trying to make one.. And that is the true gift.

    Yeah - I vote for rabbit ears. Let's see. He's got 2 dipoles going into the two OUT terminals of the splitter, And the tv's iNPUT is plugged into the IN terminal of the splitter through some mumbo-jumbo 13 wraps of wires around a magnet? Yep - a trip to the Dollar Store would be a better use of time.

I use one on the 40 meter amateur radio band and it works quite well, I have talked to Australia on it from Massachusetts! A dipole antenna is an antenna with a center-fed driven element for transmitting or receiving radio frequency energy. From a physics viewpoint, this type of antenna is the simplest practical antenna. It consists of a straight electric conductor, made of conducting metal such as copper, interrupted at the center, therefore making two poles

People need to realize that if the excrement hits the wind machine (S.H.T.F.) this will be very helpful, not necessarily for T.V. but for a radio antenna (HAM or C.B.). Not this exact antenna, but the concept can be modified. Thanks for the video!

    So I like to try doing diy's, nonetheless, this may only be click bait. The magnet is for the purpose of emf. I would have to get my fluke out and test the coaxial out of the back of the TV set to measure any current if any because without current running through wire wrapped around the magnet then there can be no emf. I also believe that the wire should be bare wrapped around the magnet because the insulation would prohibit the emf or at least reduce it.

    How many people on here have followed his instruction and actually built this and it worked? Where is he located? He only clicked on 3 channels before the video ended??? Didn't say how many were in that area or how many he actually picked up!!?😳 or if they all stayed solid or faded out next day or during a storm. Why don't he build me one and send it out to me because I have learned over the years that many antennas are trash! I have a flat antenna (AS SEEN ON TV), and it does nothing, I have a cheap walmart antenna that they are selling now with short rabbit ears and cheap parts which is more junk. I have s large rooftop antenna that rotates and it only got 3 channels. Then, I got a walmart standard antenna with a flap moveable piece in the middle, with a knob and the longer rabbit ears that they used to sell (RCA) which is not powered and bought a tall wire thin 5 feet tall rack and sat it on top aiming at the wall and near 2 windows on the South side of the house, and it works great (it is not powered) and I bought an antenna with 2 long rabbit ears with a a middle moveable piece, and a tunning knob that also has a powered plug and a booster built in and THAT ONE ALSO WORKS GREAT!!!!!! All the channels we have come in!!!! It also has to do with location and if you have a clear view or not!!!!!!😂😊

My question is why the digital disturbance and not a snowy screen when breaking signal? I'm no expert by any stretch but isn't an antenna in the coaxing for analog not digital?

  • @andyhowlett2231

    @andyhowlett2231

    10 ай бұрын

    @@user-ir4ch6df2p You don't need 50 ft of wire at these UHF frequencies, just four or five inches is the right length. You won't get 'snow' on digital. The picture will either freeze (using the last received frame) or it will blank to black. The problem with trying to set up an antenna on a digital signal is that above a certain strength the picture does not show any improvement. It is still important to get the best signal you can though, as it helps to stop pixelation when there is interference.

    Congratulations, you made a set of rabbit ears. They were invented at least 60 years ago, probably closer 70. That's an awful lot of time and effort to make something that you can buy for $20, and it won't look so hackerish. It will all be encapsulated in a neat and tidy package. All you have to do is open the box, take the antenna out, thread the coax into the port on the TV, plug the transformer into the wall outlet, position it and orient it toward the signals that give the best reception, then dial it in with the extendable and pivoting "ears". After that, all that's left to do is set the TV to scan for channels. From the time you open the box until the TV has stored the channels is under five minutes. Honestly, you probably spent more for the coax cables that were sacrificed, the signal splitter, the barrel connectors and the sleeve connectors to build this than an antenna would have cost. Seriously, if you can afford to build this, then you can afford to go buy a proper antenna.

    Each dipole going through a splitter which already has a 50 ohm balum with a 3db loss seems lossy at best and then through another Balum seems redundant. One dipole with larger wire for increased Bandwidth would work much better. Additionally, a circular antenna with reflector would work even better. This cracks me up.

  • @craigpeneguy2839

    @craigpeneguy2839

    10 ай бұрын

    To get static you must have an analog signal. TV is no longer analog. Pixelation is a result of digital broadcasting. Radio is still analog so you can still hear static on radio. However, there is also now digital radio, you either get the signal or you don't, but there is again no static with digital broadcasting.

    The antenna should be mounted broadside to the station of interest. The higher it is mounted, the better it will perform. Do not mount the antenna near metal, and do not run the transmission line very close to metal objects. Do not leave excess transmission line in a coil: trim it close to the desired length.
