Disaster In London - GoPro Saga & Jack The Ripper Tour
We recently had a bit of a disaster in London where we lost our GoPro and thought we had lost it forever.
That disaster in London can be seen in full in our Epic London Adventure vlog from last week, where we went to London for a few days, Wills went to The Quireboys album launch event, Rach explored near the Cutty Sark, then we ended up taking a stunning sunset boat trip on the Thames.
Back to this week's Disastrous London vlog. If you had seen the end of last week's London vlog, you will know that on our way home, we received a message from the Dog and Bell pub in Deptford, a stunning pub near the river Thames. They said that they had found the GoPro and it was waiting for us behind the bar.
We decided to go back down to London the following Saturday to collect our missing and hopefully now found GoPro and this is our adventure in retrieving that GoPro.
We only had about 6 hours in total to be in London, as the train we wanted to catch had been cancelled, but we had decided that if we were successful in getting back the GoPro, then we would do one of the organised London Walks, something we love to do when in London.
We had booked the Disaster In London Tour, or the Disastrous London Tour, but not only had we had a bit of a disaster losing the GoPro the previous week, we also had a bit of a disaster as our planned route to the tour, on the Elizabeth Line, was closed, so we were late and missed the tour.
Stuck for something to do to pass our 3 hours left in London, we decided to do another London Walks tour and this time we were going to do the Jack The Ripper Tour, especially as that was continuing the Disaster London theme.
We have a slightly strange fascination with the Jack the Ripper story and the Whitechapel Murders and have done a number of Jack The Ripper tours in the past, including a self guided Jack the Ripper Tour and a guided one from a different company.
We really enjoyed this Jack the Ripper walking tour, but and unfortunately we had to leave before the end to make sure we didn't miss our train home.
Although we enjoyed this Jack the Ripper walking tour, we felt that such a big story with so much information needed more than just 2 hours to get the full experience, so we have decided to go back down to London sometime in the year to make a full, in depth and much more detail Jack the Ripper vlog, hopefully in time for Halloween this year.
We had a great day with our Disaster in London and we hope you enjoyed this vlog. To be honest, it was a bit of a last minute decision to make this vlog, but we wanted to share our Disaster London with you.

Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. Yay!! The go pro returns! 🤩🙌. So lucky the dog and bell kept hold of it for you. We felt like nothing was going to dampen your spirits after getting the go pro back, even if the rest of the afternoon did go a bit pear shaped 🍐😂🙈. Very slick editing of the jack the ripper tour👌. Great trip- well a world trip really to get to the pub but so worth it. What a fabulous record of the tour. You have a great voice for these special moments Rachel. Happy days with getting the Go_pro back, like you we are really flexible of something doesn't work out like we planned. Love the unexpected joys we'd otherwise not have experienced. 👍25 the hunt for GoPro is on.so many changes, scary stuff. Love the Poetry, yay the gopro is a go go. The power walk is on, go on Wills. After working in London for a while I did find that walking on the streets can be faster, especially given all the tube changes and tunnels you have to walk through! Ouch five minutes out. Yay the ripper! Our kind of library too 😂 great tone change Rach! Picked a great tour there! More train cancellations, of course, it’s the UK. Well done Dog and Bell.❤

Great that your GoPro was still in the pub. The ploughman's looked great. The Jack the Ripper tour looked great, but you really need a good imagination in daylight, especially with most of the old buildings long gone.

It's great you got your gopro back, and it meant you got to go on another adventure! Sometimes the best trips are the ones that don't go to plan. I related so much to the hit and miss of The Tube and trains, always have Options B, C, etc since you need to adapt your plans frequently!

Oh heck. We'd be lost with all the trains! Great result though when you found the lost treasure. Or at least someone did and didn't steal it! 🤣🤣Too much competition on YT as it is. Sadly we don't have the long open roads of the USA, it would take so much longer get to drive to London! The trains are appalling at the moment, but still the quickest way. Mmm I could offer a fair few good rhyming slangs for that! Yep so relieved to have the GoPro back! We did enjoy this Jack the Ripper tour, but we did think he's was factually incorrect in a few places. He was a great storyteller though. We haven't claimed for trains as we were never on a named train, just had an open return and managed to get home each time! Cheers for watching, that's the end of London for us for a while! Cheers 🍻
Wills if you are intrigued by Jack the Ripper , then you may find the book about him by Patricia Cornwell interesting. It's about the history , profiling and DNA of Walter Sickert. Amongst other things he was the chap licking the stamps in the letters taunting the police.

Hi, thanks for that. I haven't read that book, but I'm aware of the theory of it. I actually did a show many years ago called, The Journey of Mary Kelly. I was sound designer and Terry Hands directed it. It was a play based on the Walter Sickert story - fascinating!!! Cheers for watching!
