Thanks, this exactly what I was looking for for over a month. I was afraid that the fans and heatsink are a single unit I would have to replace the whole thing which is costly.

just finished replacing the fans completely using your method, was very easy, put everything back together and laptop is running alot better now. thank you for this video

Before you buy new fans becuse they are making a noise check the left hand screw on the fan to the motherboard, my one was lose and was causing a noise witch i thought was the fan. Thanks for the upload it saved me £84 repair shop job, yes repair shops are ripping people off imo

why take the whole board out instead of just the heat sink??

And to reach and substitute the keyboard is easy like cleaning the fans?

if your computer is the same exact as the one in this video just look up replacement fans for acer nitro 5 an517-51 theres some on amazon that i will be purchasing

Anyone got a part number for the fans? I have one going out and would like to just replace both.

I don't understand. I have the same model, an Acer Gaming Nitro5 AN-517-51, 17.3 notebook, and the fans are on opposite sides of the laptop, not side by side on one side of the laptop. Is there a difference in the production year?

It's a different model and chipset the process would be the same. But I wouldn't recommend removing the motherboard just to clean some fans

You don't have to remove the motherboard to clean the fans. Also DO NOT remove the heatsink unless you are prepared to clean off the old thermal paste and re apply new thermal paste. If you remove the heatsink and put it back without changing the thermal paste you can say goodbye to your laptop

@@geraldlacy9601 you have to replace your fans mate. If your laptop is over 3-4 years old, and you've been running your fans on max a lot then the bearings have worn out. If you still have noise after cleaning it then you have to replace them. And you don't have to remove the motherboard to get your fans cleaned unless the dust has somehow reached under the motherboard or smn. You can fully disassemble the fans without removing the motherboard entirely. Hope that helps :)
