Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Welcome to TRC REX, our first-ever car build series! In this episode, we give our low-mileage 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI it's first ENGINE BAY wash in our professional-grade indoor wash bay!
If you're a fan of surfing online classifieds for deals on used cars, buying them & returning them to their former glory (or beyond it) then this is the series for you!
Basically, you could say we invested in the cheapest Subaru Impreza WRX STI we could find! Now you can bet we're gonna restore, build & drive this mostly-stock beauty from the street TO THE MOON!!!
If you feel like you're suffering from deja vu, that's because this video is a re-upload! Not to worry, though, both videos are the same, so you're not missing out by watching one over the other.

From doing the wheels second to using water to rinse the engine bay (gasp!!) you guys are the rebels of detailing videos.
Yes! I was just thinking last night how bad I need to detail my engine and bay! Great timing:) 🙏🏼
The tease was real! Awesome!
Really need to do my 2000 forester, glad to hear there’s not much to worry about.
That engine looks awesome now
Sooo satisfying 🤓🤓🤓
I turned notifications on because you guys got this car!
I have probably cleaned 2000 engines in my detailing life, and only about 3 didn’t start and run perfectly. The worst was early in my career on about a mid 80s Supra twin cam. And it was exactly what Levi said, water down the spark plug valleys. Air line and a vacuum was what it took to fix it.

Ah John, you obviously have never owned or cleaned an older British car. Even the HINT of rain would make them sputter and actual rain would stop them altogether. A can of WD40 was an essential part of your tool kit

What were the others? I've heard jaguars are notirious for not starting after an engine wash..

That's helpful, thank you! I'm still really nervous to clean my first engine this weekend, though!
Wow that was a pretty significant difference in what seemed like a short time (obviously longer than the video) and it looks like it came out very well. I was debating on getting the master blaster till i saw the price and heard it may be too much for your average breaker. Have you seen the dry ice cleaning videos? A friend introduced me to it the other day and looks almost too good to be true.....besides the expensive cost to get the units lol
I just cleaned my 7 year old WRX...for the first time. I drive a lot of dirt roads, so its dirty. Thxs for a great video. In going to leave the engine bay to dry out and start it up tomorrow

Any update on how that went?

@IvanSanchez-xc7im It went fine. No issues. Just lots of scrubbing. Just becareful to not used any abracesive sponges. I am going to clean the engine bay again next weekend. I live on a farm so the WRX sees a lot of dust and mud. Fantastic car...been airborne 8 times now - going to fast :) - WRX just keeps going
Do y'all keep the battery connected when doing engine details?
Thanks 👍
My check engine light is on and my code reader says p0446 confirmed Evap emission system . Can it be the gas cap it looks new ? What should I do ?
I do it the same way when needed!
What about the coils on some engines? Can’t water leak past the coils and down into the spark plug tubes? What about water ruining the coils themselves?
e36 bimmer can take pressure wash too?
I was hoping you would show the cleaning of the hood liner....mine was gross and cleaned it and no matter what i do it looks terrible
That looks MUCH better now. One of my peaves is a dirty Engine/Compartment. That was a mess. Usually have to take under trays off as we end up pushing the now wet schmutz down to the nether regions.

@@theragcompany Ah. Thanks for the link.. missed that. My son and I have rejoiced too a couple of times finding undoctored cars we wanted. Wife seen rolling eyes...
Didn’t cover the alternator or any of the electrical
Speed up to 1.25 On settings .. Your welcome 😁
Reals ones saw the video yesterday
I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Did you just freaking use a pressure washer for the engine?
Go with Levi's idea an put a lsx in it Great job though
I wish there was someone in NEW JERSEY that does this my Benz is filthy from my street being ripped up and over time it’s so dirty another thing I’m getting misfire’s due to the dirt.
I see STI, I click.
i washed my cars engine bay. Used a hose and water and got water into the alarm... wouldnt go off for 15 minutes. couldnt start the car too :D.
Why did you use magic wheel cleaner?
@Kevinsdetailing305

Asking same thing

Because it just happens to be really effective at cleaning engine bays. It tends to work best in bays that have more metal than plastic, so older cars are what we’d be more likely to use it on. (While still taking normal engine bay cleaning precautions)
I was the 69th like. Nice.
Any RX7?
Don't you think it's better to take the boxer out to really make it clean? Disassemble the parts to get the missing spots
Is that alldayanthony?? 🧐
Question is, will it start. Lol. Pressurized water, yikes!

I do it twice a year on my car. Your vehicle's owner manual should have a spot that shows you how to wash your engine. It tells you what parts, if I need, to cover up with a bag.
you should go tell tj hunt not to spray water into the actual engine tho
wouldn't it encourage rusting engine components if you degrease those completely?
@doelbaughman1924

Yes, but as they said, there's more to the cleaning. I'm sure they have another *video* for the detailing and conditioning.
I would not use a pressure washer in an engine bay. Yes the connectors are sealed against water/moisture, but a pressure washer can push past those seals. I prefer a Milton siphon wand. Mostly air with a small amount of water. Just enough to clean.

It's perfectly fine if you use a low power one, standing 1-2 meters away.
The whole time I’m like “noooo the alternator cover that shit up!”
Did a bad job of explaining what you were doing and why. You definitely got a lot of water in the alternator and didn't show us if it started or not after the wash.
This is nothing compared to the truck my parents have never been whine detail
1st
so question..... Why hit the electrical with water? why not use air to remove loose dirt, chemically treat, and then use steam? I'm all for the content but just curious why this method was chosen?

Agreed was there any special treatment for the electrical items

Funny enough we had already used air and if you watch from 1:40 you will hear my explanation. Also we haven't even started working on this car and we need to clean it to get the years of grime off to asses the situation. Water is the easiest and most powerful. Plus I've pressure washed close to 20,000 engines over the last 25 years...
