I'm deep in the New Zealand backcountry fly fishing for big rainbow trout and I used a Kugoo Wish 01 electric dirt bike to get to my spot. What an adventure it turned out to be.

    That was a real adventure!!! I like the bike. Though it might be too small for me but after trying, I must say it's brilliant. You have proved already that can easily change the trip for much more fun. Excellent fishing. Great video!!!

    It's a stunning little river but not so stunning getting there. The bush is pretty average previously logged thick srcub really. Guess thats why DOC let's the tracks there get into such a mess. Only thing they seem to do is trapping to protect the Whio.

    Hi thanks for sharing that epic adventure. You could also use the bike to get so far and then walk the rest perhaps for an overnight but you would also have to carry more gear.

    Yeah that's definitely an option and could make for a significantly shorter walk in. I'd be happy riding with a light overnight back. I'm also looking at the option of simly buying and extra battery. It is smaller than the EB3A and only weighs a little bit more. 2 batteries would give you really good range.

    Excellent video. Enjoyed the bike ride portion almost as much as the fishing part. Those fish were outstanding and you did a great job catching them. The scenery was beautiful too. It's the first full day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Looking forward to fishing my brains out very soon. I hope to catch some nice rainbows as you did. Thanks for the post.

    That's great to hear. I definitely want to do a bit more adventures like these. It's hard work at times but great fun and when it works out the rewards are excellent. I hope you have a great season. Temperatures are starting to drop here now but Autumn fishing should still be good for a few months before we go over to our winter fishing in Taupo. Tight lines.

    Thanks very much. It was certainly one of my best trips but I did do an incredible trip with Pawel in February which I am still working on. We did a 5 day heli trip into the backcountry during cicada season and the fishing was incredible. It will take some time to edit but keep an eye out for it.

    Riding the bike into those mud bogs Is risky business Johan I had a mate lose a polaris and needed a tractor tow to get out doing that. The polaris was sweet but a long walk to get help

  • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing

    Haha yeah I was lucky that bike is so small. It still took a bit off serious effort to get it out of that big mud hole. It was strange as the rest of the track was decent hard bottom just a soft layer on top. I gues past of the reason there is a detour around that now. I won't be doing tracks like that again though. Easier to walk that! 🤣🤣

    Great thanks for that info. I figured that might be the case as it was a good walk between the confluence and that last fish. I'll have to go and explore a bit more some time. Expect it could be good end of season potentially.

    Have you watched both of my Kugoo videos? I think I cover most things pretty well over the 2 videos? My channel is fly fishing focused so I probably won't do an in depth review bu feel free to email me from my website if you have any specific questions about the bike. I'd be more than happy to answer them. There is at least one other full review on KZread that covers it pretty well already if you need more info. Have a great day.

    Wow what a good size rainbow trout ! Really impressed with electric bike , it did very well though muddy road. When you come up to steep gravel road, did you use gear 1 or gear 3 ? thanks !

  • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing

    @CrazyAboutFlyFishing

    3 ай бұрын

    Gear 2 or 3 depening on how steep it was. If it was too steep and slippery I got off and walked pushing in with a bit of power in gear 1 or 2. Gear 3 would just spin.

    Thank you for reply. Your bike got a lot of mud this time, did you wash the bike after removing the battery ? Was it ok to wash ?

  • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing

    @CrazyAboutFlyFishing

    3 ай бұрын

    @rossi8123 yes I removed the battery and washed it with a hose first and this morning with a light pressure wash and once it dried I put the battery back and did a test drive and it worked fine.

  • @rossi8123

    @rossi8123

    Thanks for how to wash instruction. Did you find that the battery level gage on little screen goes up and down while riding ? mine does. the battery was fully charged , but the level went down 4 from 6 and then went back to 6 again.

  • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing

    @CrazyAboutFlyFishing

    3 ай бұрын

    @rossi8123 yes it does depending on mode and how much power you give. I assume e.g. if you are going up a hill full throttle in mode 3 it uses more power therefore it must determine that at that powerlevel the battery won't last as long as when you are in mode 2 cruising a flat surface again then the level bumps back up. That was my thoughts anyway. I did notice it especially on the big uphills going low and then coming back up on the flat. Do you experience the same? I think the terrain makes a big difference on battery use.

    I would love to have a go with a Surron. Hopefully I get a chance next year. I only know a couple of places to be honest, both I have been. It takes a lot of research and searching KZread videos and try to work out where people are using quad bikes. Hunting and offroad videos are a good starting point. The are more likely to give the location.
