He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that. The kobyz is a very old Kazakh folk instrument and it’s spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And Please react to another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for him at Dimash's request, Ave Maria. He performed this song on the same show as Stranger. If you know any of the many versions of this song, this is not one of them. But definitely a must if you want to hear an angel sing. Dimash has the most INCREDIBLE voice i have ever heard. He trained in MANY different styles, his mother is a opera singer, his father is a singer and producer. Some people think Dimash is from a musical theatre background when in actuality nothing could be further from the truth. His vocal range, and his voice, is simply ASTONISHING. This is one of the best songs to show all Dimash can do. There are so many octaves and singing styles in this one song, and it’s amazing.

Watch the whole video because it took place right after quarantine and it was his first big performance in public again. Dears missed him so much they halted the show due to so many wanting to deliver flowers to him on stage. He had to ask them to give him time to wish his mother a happy birthday and made everyone walk with him to give her the flowers instead. 🤣❤😂 And he was just there performing as a guest!

Dimash has trained for at least 3 hours a day since he was 5 years old. He is not only amazingly talented and trained, but he is perhaps the nicest, most loving, honorable and decent person in the world. It is this, as well as his vocal ability, that makes him so beloved of his fans (who he calls his "Dears.") He also is humble in so many ways. But music is his life, and has been since he was a toddler. If he seems too good to be true, well, he pretty much IS too good to be true--and yet, there he is, lifting people's spirits and even apparently causing people to come out of depression that had seemed never-ending. I am one of them. I cannot say it was Dimash who cured me of more than 50 years of depression, but since I first heard him sing, it is gone, and has not returned. I am now 81 and am free of depression that had plagued me for most of my adult life.

Igor and Dimash always create music that has profound meaning. Sadly, millions of people are displaced around the world due to war and famine.

This was preformed in Russia they don’t believe in standing, they find it rude to block others, so they give flowers which he donates to nursing homes, hospitals, etc. also he sings plenty of songs where he does not go high and low and they are just as amazing. You never know what to expect from Dimash.

The Kazakh instrument is a "KOBYZ", it is the old viol of the shamans. It is one of the oldest instruments of the Turco-Mongolian civilization. It is carved from a single block in walnut or birch and its 2 strings are made of horsehair. On the other hand, each people has its customs and in Russia, people do not get up to applaud. It is therefore not a lack of respect for Dimash because he is very well known and appreciated in Russia

His songs almost always have a very deep meaning. If you want a heartwrenching story, watch his cover of Daybreak. I'd suggest watching the video from Gloria Wu (where the meaning behind the song is explained). BUT.. but.. don't forget to also watch the 'Daybreak' performance from his Bastau 2017 concert!!! That one is my absolute favorite, especially once you know the story behind the song.

He is evidently the greatest singer currently on the planet cannot be compared. He is a league of his own ❤

Been listening to him since 2017 and never tire of all he does. There are plenty of songs with no acrobatics that are stunningly beautiful. Qaragym Ai for one. When you factor in how down to earth and humble he is you just not only love his music but you will seriously appreciate the man that he is.

My admiration for Dimash is like my admiration for Amālia Rodrigues, the greatest singer of the 20th century. Without end, definitive, love at the level at which a human is humanly capable. Dimash, you are the greatest singer of the 21st century. Eternal love for you ❤️

I occasionally think I can go a whole morning without listening to him, then he brings out a new song or a new reactor discovers him and I HAVE to watch everything all over again, I’m afraid I’m trapped forever. Kobyz is an ancient tool of the Kazakh people. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. Kobyzy is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many people, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horse hair give a very thick, overtone-rich timbre. 🔝🔝

This stage is at Sochi, Russia where the New Wave comp is annual. Igor Krutoy has been involved there for years. Dimash sang Sinful Passion there as a guest, and Igor was there to see him, and subsequently came out of semi-retirement to write, compose and perform with him. The other stages they frequent are at the Kremlin Palace, The Love of Tired Swans, and the one with the ice at Astana, Igor Krutoy’s 65th Anniversary Celebration, on Igor’s channel, and not to be missed. Dimash is so photogenic, and so great at acting, that he is as good as the best movies. Did you notice that he entered the scene from a portal !!..? He also sang Fly Away and Ave Maria at this particular concert. You can make up a story out of these three songs. The audience is Russian. Being subdued is what they do as a culture.

I believe the high note was F6. He also added vibrato. Wow!

Dimash teaches people to love music in the right way

What amazes me constantly is the quality he puts into his music, even songs that on the surface sound simple have unusual instruments or sounds that he's played with. At first listen you think oh anybody could sing that, it's not that special but you go back and listen again and notice more details until you're finally stunned by how he's constantly coming up with something different. I remember a long time ago a reactor listening to Fly Away and getting really excited. I couldn't understand as most reactors thought the song was good but fairly ordinary for Dimash. Apparently this guy had a background in EDM music and he explained that what Dimash had done was basically ripped apart EDM and rebuilt it from the ground up.

Что так никто не споёт, стало понятно в Китае. Он уже тогда стал не достижимым.

Вообще-то слушаю рок по жизни. А тут услышал Димаша и это шедевр, у него есть божий дар, уверен в любом направлении музыки он сможет спеть!!

I’m not a technical person but I hear all the time that it’s more impressive when he does low register than super high register because it’s harder to sing that low. We all know he can sing the highest notes a man can sing but the low notes is just as impressive.
