If I use a 5-port switch, what port does my iPad and ATEM mini have to be plugged into?

​​⁠if it’s a switch, it doesn’t matter which port the iPad or ATEM are plugged into. If the switch is connected to a network/internet, you will have to set up static IP addresses for both devices. Read this for more detail: labs.mixeffect.app/article/2021/12/directly-connect-to-atem-via-ethernet/

ethernet update the uni usb 3.0 ethernet adapter arrived 4 days early! it works flawlessly with ios ipad and iphone, Heed, you need to supply power to the adapter, it has a lightning port along with the ethernet port. additionally, i can run atem via ethernet and closed wifi and can operate an additional atem simultaneously A genuis solution, thanks Adam

hi…these two adaptors don’t work with network switch set up: 1) giochem lightning to rj45 ethernet adapter 2) j5 create usb3.0 gigabit ethernet adaptor (needs a driver and ios is not supported) got a 3rd dongle on order. will update the results happy holidays getting Great mixeffect use with closed wifi network on both ipad and iphone

Most interesting (yes I did subscribe :) ) any chance that the latest Blackmagicdesign HyperDeck Shuttle HD will get or have the possibility to connect tot MixEffect..... ? Take care!

MixEffect can control the HyperDeck Shuttle HD. You won't be able to select the USB port slot without my Set HyperDeck Drive shortcut (see the post on labs.mixeffect.app/article/2022/05/set-hyperdeck-drive-shortcut/) and switching between Teleprompter and Playback mode can be accomplished via this shortcut - labs.mixeffect.app/article/2022/05/hyperdeck-file-format-shortcut/

I am using the Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter dongle, along with the Apple USB Ethernet 10/100 adapter. The key is using an adapter that also supplies power to the iPad/iPhone.

Also to answer your question about a router. Yes, you can do that to. You'll want to set the IP address and Gateway to whatever the router is using? i.e. an IP address in the correct range and the IP address of the router (gateway).

You're a Genius! I'm gonna try it and buy your app if it works for me. One last question, can i use my own macros in your app? cause i've succeeded at looping cam1 pause to 2 pause etc . Can i import xml ? Thanks

ATEM macros are stored on the ATEM switcher itself. MixEffect lets you run them and customize their icon and color. MixEffect cannot import XML into the ATEM switcher. Continue to use ATEM Software Control for that.

You cannot because the ATEM streams from the Ethernet port, and it is being used to directly connect to MixEffect. Alternative ID to plug ATEM into computer via USB, and use computer to stream. ATEM will appear as webcam to computer.

Why can I not share the app with family members? When I bought it said family sharing is possible

This is something I have to look at. I thought it was a checkbox that I set in my app, but it might be more complicated than that. Stay tuned.

Not available on Windows. MixEffect only runs on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS on Apple Silicon.

I just got MixEffects Pro about 10 days ago. The issue that doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere is that the phone goes to sleep mode, then when I wake up the phone MixEffects Pro is no longer connected to my ATEM. I wrote to the developer and have not heard back. Is there a fix for that?

I did respond to you via email, maybe the response is in your spam folder? When you sleep your device, iOS will suspend the application, meaning the connection between MixEffect and the ATEM will be severed. There is no way to avoid this. You can turn off Auto-Sleep in MixEffect settings. That way if the app is running in the foreground, the iPhone will not sleep.

@@AdamTow Oh, I didn't realize you were the developer. I was just browsing KZread and found your videos and thought I'd ask. I didn't find an auto-sleep setting, but I did find an auto-lock setting. That's probably what you meant, right? It does seem to solve the issue. Great little app, for sure. Looking forward to using it.

I recommend the Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and either a UNI Ethernet USB-A adapter or the Apple USB Ethernet adapter (note only 100Mbps on the Apple one).
