Direct Instruction | Teaching Tip

Direct Instruction can often be the most direct way to teach a lesson. In this teaching tip video I explain how I use direct instruction and why it does not have to be boring.

I use DI even in PBL. PBL needs mini-lessons to teach skills as the students realize they need them, and DI is the perfect way to get those skills.

I am going to try this for math. What might you ask your students to write on the post-It? I teach first graders and some are really low.

Thank you! Are you a teacher or training to be a teacher? Also yes I worked at a summer camp when I was in highschool. I didn't realize it yet but working at a summer camp was one of the first times I realized that I loved working with kids.

Mr. Thain yes I am in college about to start my education classes in the fall. And I totally agree that summer camp helps you enjoying working with kids.
