Tips in a nutshell: 1. (Force yourself to)Summarize; 2. Have a dialogue instead of a monloguge; 3. Prepare talking points

@@alexanderlyon I recently started coaching my team to refer to talking points as “ listening points” to emphasize the importance of getting that engagement that leads to higher closing ratios. I’m also learning how to shut my mouth more and be more concise. It’s a challenge.

I used to work with one of my mentor for 6 years. She always speak very clearly and short. I thought that she is lack of emotions till I met long winded leader. I feel how much I appreciate my mentor' style.

Hi Alex, Thanks for the feedback. Writing concisely is a long term goal for me. When my sentences are wordy or need further clarification in an academic writing, what should I work on? The thing is I am trying to list out my responses while I am overthinking. If I am talking about an unfamiliar topic, what is the best approach to become confident?

How would I do this with a research based speech a persuasive speech? I did an informative speech today and totally messed it up because I loaded my 5x8 card with loads of information reading word for word! How do I avoid this? we had to do oral citations so I was nervous I was going to forget the reasearch I wrote on my outline! Since she said our outline is our script I was pressured to write everything on a card! Do you have a video on how to set up your note card properly? Please help! Thanks!! I have a persuasion speech coming up in like 1 week and a half!

Hi, Selene. For that challenge, I'm going to recommend a video I did a while back. It's on how to speak extemporaneously. Part of the video explains how to go from lots of notes to fewer notes so that you will avoid reading. I think the whole video will be helpful but especially starting around the 3 min. mark. Here's the link to the video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZmWOpLagibbSYMY.html

Hi Rick. I'm not doing any coaching currently. You may want to take a look at Lighthouse Communications or Mastertalk. Those are both channels you can take a look at and they do offer coaching. You can follow up by looking at their websites, etc. Feel free to mention my name. I know them both and that'll give them an idea of what you're looking for.

This video has two intros? The irony. Cut to the chase >> 1:13

I would ague the "second" intro was his explanation of content value. His video format follows a very popular communication strategy: What, So What, Now What. His intro told you *what* the video would be about. The "second" intro told you *why* it matters (so what). And the rest of the video gave you the *actionable next steps* (now what).
