Great information on mod 1, which I'll be done at the end of May 2023, you have a very carming voice which is great for the students, but also, you pick up on the faults but still give good feedback, and you are quick to apologise if you make mistakes, as we are all human. I'm looking forward to getting back into biking as I just got a 24-mile MT 07 2019 🎉😮😅

That was a really interesting video, very educational for anyone starting their riding and looking to actually pass their test - I mean, not a 16 year old who is going to be getting a car next year, and never riding a bike again... I'll be 56 in a couple of weeks and I did my CBT about a month ago, right now it's practice, practice, practice. I hope to start big bike training in a few weeks, when I can do the slalom and figure 8s without wobbling.

I've got my mod 1 training on the 19th September, then a bit of training and the actual test on the 20th, I cant stop watching these mod 1 videos, guess it helps me visually see some things i should do, aswell as useful tips to help when it comes to physically doing it etc. much appreciated :D

@@motorcyclelessonsuk update for you, i passed the mod 1 first time pass with 1 minor (48kmh on swerve and avoidance) got my mod 2 booked for the 18th of October, hopefully be out on my xj6s diversion after that :)

Thank you. Yes, it's a good test of machine control in readiness for the on-road test, I think a lot of countries do this now 🙂

It's the same in most of Europe because it was an EU driving licence directive that require the 2 part test. Except Germany decided it wasn't a worthwhile test and didn't adopt it into Germany licences. It's an artificial test that doesn't reflect real world riding, but it's a money spinner for the DSA and they spent a fortune on motorcycle test areas and special tarmac so need to recoup the money by having as many fails for minor faults (which they class as dangerous) as possible. No rider after passing it will ever worry about dabbing a foot down on a U-turn or any other slow manoeuvre. Or having to do an emergency stop / swerve at 1 kph below an arbitrary EU speed limit. I mean, real world, you do a U-turn but feel your balance going, is it more dangerous to drop your bike on top of yourself in a main road or dab a foot down to keep yourself upright?

Any tips for hitting 20mph around the bend to make getting up to speed easier for the emergency stop and avoidance?

Take the bend at a sensible speed and in a responsive gear such that as soon as you are out of the bend you can accelerate positively in a straight line. Most people simply don't open the throttle enough after the bend but before the speed trap (don't open it in the bend itself though or you'll go through the fence!). It's actually not as hard as a lot of people think so long as you're in the correct gear so the bike is responsive but not overly high on its revs. Thanks for the question 😊
