The divine hands of Mark Knopfler on a stratocaster with a clean tone is one of the best music experience for human ears. Simply wonderful. Thank you.
Wow - I was there! This was my first ever gig, went with my schoolmate Tony Fullbrooke. Truly believed that Knopfler had speeded up the recording on Sultans until I watched him play it right in front of me!! Was a late finish that had us running for the tube to get the last train out of Charing Cross - great memories!

Nothing but absolutely NOTHING can eat that fabulous guitar solo. They just don't exist anymore and it's so darn sad. The live versions of any great song are always better because they have those BEAUTIFUL guitar solos!!! This was music. They really need to take a lesson from all of you guys! Thank you for making the 70's so cool!!

Playing it live they did way back in 1979 Mark’s guitar work marvellous, but the band then was truly amazing too Loved those times

Has any other guitarist ever had a greater feeling and awareness of tone, melody and harmonies than Mark Knopfler? I don't think so. 🙏🎶 And how come he and Dire Straits were always even more fantastic when playing LIVE? Brillante, espectacular, legendario... Siempre soñé con que algún día se publicaría material inédito en directo, pero después del Live At The BBC y viendo que ese día no llegaría nunca, perdí la ilusión y tuve que conformarme con los recopilatorios (brillantes también). Ésta caja que está a punto de publicarse es algo que muchos seguidores llevamos esperando alrededor de 30 años. Poder escuchar el álbum Alchemy con el set list completo es un sueño, lo mismo digo del On The Night y éste regalo del concierto en el Rainbow ya hace que no se pueda esperar al día 3 de Noviembre. La calidad del sonido y la mezcla en general es simplemente magnífica, gracias Guy. Y gracias por publicar ésta caja en CD (yo sigo teniendo mi Discman Sony) aparte de en vinilo. Cuando se anunció la publicación de ésta caja no me lo podía creer. Gracias por hacerlo posible 🎸

Just very young Mark. You should listen to earliest jams and live performances of Dire Straits, they are brilliant. This one is from Bootleg Album: 1979 - Rainbow Theatre, London, UK, 20th and 21st December (from BBC ARENA 80) If you were wondering.

Yes rod, I agree with you on the tempo feeling rushed, to the point of it feeling like a different song. Still marvelous and interesting tho. I feel like I'm quibbling about the Mona Lisa because there's a scratch on the frame! It's Knoppfler, for God's sake! Cheers, mate.

Es una noticia increíble el nuevo lanzamiento pero es una pena que de la gira del 92 no se publique la versión en directo de Planet of New Orleans, muy superior a la versión en estudio, y que no se haya publicado un concierto de la gira Brothers in Arms es bastante lamentable a estas alturas, es quizás lo que le falta a esta caja.

Not at all, nothing strange in it. You probably never listened Mark and Dire Straits properly. You just don't know sh*t. Just very young Mark. @@EvgeniyNeutralMusician absolute rubbish , seen D.S live and Mark on numerous occasions , listen to his music all the time for the last 45 years, play his music on guitar . Was agreeing with other comments where people say it sounds a bit strange. His voice sounds different here from other live versions. I know this has been produced by Guy Fletcher who I respect a great deal , however it does sound a bit strange. By the way I think MK is probably the best singer /songwriter/guitarist this country has ever produced
