A very emotional song for me. Reminds me of my husband and his passing. He received the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam. RIP Buddy. We love you and miss you. RIP honey.😎👍🙏
We played this in my step fathers funeral. Iam 35 and he was my step father for 30 years. Dire Straits was one of his favorite bands. We bonded over shared love for music. He is the one that got me into Queen and Dire Straits. And he gave me the Brothers in Arms LP some years ago. I have it displayed on my wall.
And I still cry..........😥
but we live in different ones.... Moon's riding high. But it's written in the starlight..we are fools to make war, on our brothers in arms. What a performance!!

1 of the classic songs ever composed and recordered , just brillaint , to have so much emotion in a song . you can feel it
I was going home in Norway after being hit very badly in the mountains of the Nordfjord by the one skistick of one of my marines and prayed my men to let me go Home to my wife in Heaven. But my Marines did what they had to do. They saved my life because Marines never leave a brother-in-arms behind. My generals did!
I've been following this amazing man since I was 14years old im now 55 and every time he plays a song it's different it's such an amazing gift sir knopler has .MARVELLOUS.
must be the best band ever must be the best concert ever must be the best guitarist ever must be the best song ever must be remebered forever!

I hear you, my brother. Tears come with the memories of our brothers and sisters left behind. Oh but Dear God, horrible times. Bless you
I've just added this to a dedication to 75 coal miners who were killed in Australia's worst mining disaster and that record still stands sadly today, they were truly Brothers in Arms at that fateful moment and this song just gives it so much empathy and compassion for an event almost 100 years ago - Mt Mulligan Mining Disaster "LEST WE FORGET"
arguably the most intense and powerful song ever written and performed... dire straits at their best... and mark knopler proves again what a prolific composer, musician, guitarist, lyricist and POET he is... this is a song filled with emotions... simply bloody amazing! *peacelove*

J'étais là.... Et c'était énorme! Probablement le concert le plus palpitant que j'ai vu et entendu... Inoubliable!
Tears in the eyes each time...since 30 years ! Un chef d'oeuvre.
So much emotion in just one song, it leaves me speechless, a real tear jerker if ever there was one, for Simona, Luciano, Nasro you know who we are, the best MK fans on earth
These mist covered mountains Are a home now for me But my home is the lowlands And always will be Someday you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn to be Brothers in arms Through these fields of destruction Baptisms of fire I've witnessed your suffering As the battle raged high And though they did hurt me so bad In the fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones Now the sun's gone to hell and The moon's riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But it's written in the starlight And every line in your palm We're fools to make war On our brothers in arms
These mist covered mountains your a legend Mr Knopfler ...Brilliant sound ...through these fields of destruction...
Thank you Mark Knopfler for your wonderful music. I've just come from a holiday in Brazil and I found every busker in every street corner is playing Sultans of Swing. It was lovely.
Fantastic job on a fantastic song by The Fantastic Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. God bless everyone from Patrick

I've seen hundreds of concerts but I've give the them all back to see Dire Straits and my personal hero Townes Van Zandt.
That guitar...and that voice..haunts me.
I live in the South Africa, the country that banned this beautiful and realistic song in I think 1986. Love it & listen to it often.
Everytime I hear Mark's guitar, I actually fill that it's Telling me a story
The better versions of this song with a great solo from Mark Knopfler and Paul Franklin in slide guitar.
Just pure gold.
Capolavoro assolutooo
The guitar man of our times he can break our heart with a simply lyric or a powerful guitar riff what a performance, that organ from Guy Fletcher and Alan Clarke and that fat guitar sound, the best ever, I've posted this before the ending is to die for

A few things I like about this version: 1. The flute during the last verse. 2. The way the drums become livelier after the organ solo. 3. The way Mark starts rocking out from 8:23 to 8:48

The 80s were nice in many ways. But man I do not miss the nuclear hysteria stuff. There's a reason everyone was depressed in these videos. One of my least favorite things as a kid were the tests of the air raid sirens. You were supposed to react to them and seek out the nearest air raid shelter, but by the 80s hardly anyone did anymore. It still freaked me out.

@gregkerkyra • THOSE WERE THE DAYS !!! PEACE & LOVE.
@RSTETZY - That was a crazy time in the U.S. People didn't know to express thanks to our soldiers. I remember how young and silly I was. We were anti-war, so we all ignored everything and everyone connected with that war. Many people didn't understand the emotions of the returning soldiers. We just didn't have the maturity to try to understand, and to be thankful. Looking back, I regret this so much. You should be thanked, so thank you, from the bottom of my heart. All the best to you.
Tears in my eyes
For me, it is the best version. Pure feeling.
A spiritual experience like no other!

Einer der besten Titel aller Zeiten , Schauer auf dem Rücken garantiert , ein Traum !!
This one leaves me speechless. One of five altogether that have a similar effect.
A Living Legend
Holy Jesus, what a crowd, just asking for more and DS delivered BIG TIME
I am 74 years old I heard Mark play when I was very young on the radio today to see him alive its fantastic 'I think he equal to Hank Marvin Joe Walsh 'Erick Clapton and some others 'he is one of the finest of our time 'play on Mark.
Absolutely beautiful and brilliant! My all time favorite.. Big love to you Mark Knopler!
The Greatest, his songs have such strong meanings
Sublime and enchanting. A beautiful performance
Pure poetry to sublime music, legendary stuff.
Steel guitar solo adds that little extra!

So beautifully put.... Been advocating his genius and superiority over anyone who ever touched the guitar being the only one who makes his guitar simply sing.... He doesn't play it like an instrument. He has a duet with it....
great song,...reminds me off a good friend of mine,...he past away like 20 years ago aged 21....we were best buddy's.....
this is magic !
Amazing....Bought the album when it came out....still blows me away
Beautiful song. Always y summer times when the son came down, I love to fell all the felling that this sound make me in my mind.

THE BEST !!! THE BEST !!! THE BEST !!!!
Absolutely bloody marvellous, what an encore and yet 45 cretins disliked it.......
Very good ! as live !
I love the solemnity of the song, the best for me
A beautiful comment about a beautiful song.
Wow to write a song like this...remember forever Amen ..
You need to check out the 1988 Nelson Mandela concert for the best version of this song!!!
Pedal steel was great thanks for posting !
Though I love this live version in its entirety, the highlight for me was the lap steel guitar part. It gave it a country music feel.
