    From the first time I ever heard this,I’ve felt it was the most evocative melody I’ll ever hear. I’ll ask my kids to have it played at my memorial service.it feels to me like a summation of my life’s journey-all of it, the good & the bad.”spiritual is a spot-on description of the gravitas this melody conveys to my mind.I’ve always treasured the coda in which he plucks several strings’ harmonics,voiced with his fretting hand. MK is a true “music magician” and a well-spring of melancholic melody. Long may he run.

Poesie; Magie, Kunst, Emozionen und ein unendliches Gefühl beim Spiel. Nur schon diese knapp 5 Minuten vermitteln "alles" und sind unerreicht! Vielen, vielen herzlichen Dank Mark. Ich liebe dich!

    This is the very best version of *Wild Theme* _Local Hero._ Somber, melancholic, haunting in its simplicity - less is so much more. This rendition truly captures the spirit of the original film and it’s not ruined by that intrusive and bloating sax on some of the other versions.

    It may sound strange but I have a list of songs that I want my wife to play at my service and this is on that list. Everyone knows that music is the most important part of my life and this song is one of the gifts that God has brought into my life. It's great that it meant something to you and your husband.

  • @FrejrNA

    @FrejrNA

    7 жыл бұрын

    I don't think it's strange at all. For most of the people listening to "real" and good music it means a damn lot. Simply because it's not just some kind of sound (like pop or dubstep) but many notes and tones perfectly matched together to create a perfect sound. Listening and making music basically is my life, so I can expect to end it with that as well. I do have such a list as well... But since I won't be able to play them at my funeral unfortunatly, I want a good friend to play them live at least. It took me many years to create a list of only 3 songs (more than 3 seems too much to me), which I can really call "the list of the 3 songs with the most significant impact on my life". Pretty difficult, though. At the moment it is: Pink Floyd - High Hopes Dire Straits - Wild Theme Queen - Too Much Love Will Kill You (Metallica - Bleeding Me) - It hurts too much not putting it on the list.

    There are two very similar but nevertheless separate songs, both off the Local Hero soundtrack. The one we hear here is "Wild Theme." The second longer one that includes the saxophone is called "Going Home." They are frequently mixed up. Both are beautiful.

    Brilliant composition. To this day, Knopfler is still underrated. Too bad the crowd couldn't just sit back and let a brilliant artist's music wash over them. Too much screeching. Too much alcohol.

    Mark a eu raison de ne pas mettre de paroles sur cette merveilleuse musique. Celà laisse a chacun de nous la latitude d'y poser librement des mots selon son état d'âme du moment et de les changer a souhait. Nous ne trouverons jamais les mots justes pour te dire MERCI

    I am dreading hearing the news that our beloved Mark knopfler has passed away. I really shouldn't mention it at all but I will cry louder and longer than when eddie van halen passed. Mark knopflers playing touches me extremely deeply. When it comes to soulfullness he is the greatest of all time.

    I give all the credit to Mark, but I truly believe something greater moves through us. Many great writers say they pick up words/music out of the air. They hear or feel it. That's how I feel on this and several other songs.

    The arpeggio on the final chord is just so gentle and then the harmonic topping it off. You just don't hear that these days. I play a little guitar, badly, but I work on that sort of delicate detail.

    +100 Glad someone likes that part as much as i do... :), that Sus4 followed arpeggiated D with the harmonic at the end are just... magic... :) Still remember wearing out the tape of my VHS version of On The Night in the 90's from watching over and over, just trying yo get those right on the guitar..... :) Man i love the On Every Street tour, still best version of Romeo and Juliet and Wild Theme ever, and the second best version of Telegraph Road (being the Alchemy's version nº1) Whole Nimes 92 concert here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fmSg2M6ap9HTeMo.html

    @@mirkodisilverio6032 In truth, all the versions of the Wild Theme on the OES tour are great... 😄 When ever i listen to Mark play those types of half-bends like on 2:17 and 2:39 i get shivers... It's a typical Knopfler trademark.... 😉 PS: you can watch the On The Night version here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iJxmqaiodMTLaLw.html probably the best straight on view of Mark's fingers on the fretboard of all of the versions. You can clearly see all he is playing
