For me, what makes him so amazing is not the notes he plays, but the notes he doesn't play. He doesn't overwhelm you with his guitar. He chooses each note carefully and tastefully and let's each note speak for themselves. Aside from the fact that he is a brilliant guitar player, this makes his songwriting one of the best in my opinion.

He’s also a great storyteller. That’s something that is really rare in rock music. His lyrics can stand on their own as literature.

its the dynamics, vibrato and spare use of notes that make his playing. Beautiful guitar playing

This is an incredible song. The emotion that you can read of of Marks face is just priceless. The feeling he puts in his guitar play is unimaginable. He is just one of the best guitarist in the world!

what a gift he is to all of us

Mark never plays the same song the same way everytime. There is always a slight variation in the chords he plays but they always comes out beautiful. He is a guitar virtuoso & a rare talent.

Wow, what a beautiful thought. While I love the melody I hadn't thought of it in this fashion. I've got Ave Maria, Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace on my list, but you've given me something to think about.

I have read many reviews on here and they seem to have the same theme, Mark takes us on a spirtually journey of wonderment when he plays this tune, he plays with passion and it gives alot of be people joy, and I include myself on this, the man is a legend and may it long continue!!

This is the kind of music you can listen to over and over again and never get tired. Every note he plays, every note he doesn't play, so beautiful. One of the best pieces ever written.

August 2020 in a troubled World. All disappears listening to this beautiful music. Thank you 🌍💖xx

Genius, pure and simple! Guy alongside is irreplaceable. Simply the finest musicians collaborating to deliver this eternal signature tune.

He doesn't just play guitar, he makes the guitar speak, which sets him apart from other 'guitar players'.

I love the movie! Watch it every time it comes around again. Quirky, and quietly funny...and I fell in love with this tune from the very beginning. Knopfler is a rare talent indeed.

Mark has got to be the MOST over-looked, multi genre musicians/composer in the world. He never disappoints in the studio or in concert. Thanks for posting!

Why isn't Mark Knopfler in every Hall of Fame in existence?!

He's the complete musician. He's an accomplished and distinctive guitar stylist, and he also writes literate songs that contain compelling stories, Telegraph Road, Private Investigations, Your Latest Trick, Brothers In Arms, Iron Hand, Done With Bonaparte, Sailing To Philadelphia, to name but a few. He's also managed to be phenomenally successful without going off the rails. And 'Going Home' is a rare work of beauty.

The best sound of a Gibson Les Paul is when Mark Knopfler is playing one.

A very moving and inspirational piece of music.

This man could make a broom handle, piece of wire and a wooden box sound fantastic, but when he has his guitar of choice in his hands there is nobody better, They simply become one. By far the greatest player to have lived. His song writing , playing and singing are in a league of their own

Saw Mark on Sept. 11, 2019 in Salt Lake City, UT. Still as good as ever. Never gets old. Best song writer/guitarist ever. Can't wait for his next trip to the US.

Such a talented musician with a tireless enthusiasm for his craft

First time I've heard Mark play i was 10 years old, now i'm in my 50's and this is the only love in my life that hasn't change trough the years and experiences i had in my life.. his unique sound makes my heart melt and brings water to my eyes... sure there are others great guitar players, but no one hits me like Mark does, not even close... just me I guess and this special love that will never die...

This tune never fail to lift my spirits, no matter how times I listen to it. Simply awesome. Mark of a genius!

Remembering my lovely wife Sharon-over 6 years now. We played this as we carried her casket out of the service-sob. But thanx Mark, actually saw him play this live at Christchurch a few years ago now. My youngest son shouted me the ticket as I think he knew this was the closing track. We looked at each other and didnt need to say anything. God Bless

Often you hear something truly incredible and it's after a while that you realise it was written by Mark Knopfler.

without doubt the finest piece of instrumental music of the modern era, if not since the beginning of time. I have yet to listen to anything else that comes close.

No other guitarist can draw more emotion out of a single note than Knopfler.
