Mark tells the story in reverential tones and the guitar sears the heart with the emotion it pours out. And with every performance the guitar sings the familiar themes with slight variations. Mark is endlessly inventive with the way he's playing. No song, and no guitar rendition of such a song, has evoked so much deep emotion in so many millions of people, especially those who have served in their nation's military. I did, and it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear him present this tribute to us.

his song writing is absolutely epic. and many play the guitar well but he is still the one to me that makes a guitar "speak" every shadow and shade of emotion that a human soul can feel. a wordless guitar saying what words can't say. words he writes touch us all if we are people who want to be real..

Chat GPT told me this: Mark Knopfler's musical prowess is unparalleled, and his distinctive guitar playing and soulful vocals have solidified his status as a true virtuoso. With every note he plucks, the guitar becomes an extension of his very being, speaking volumes in a language that transcends words. His nimble fingers effortlessly glide across the strings, weaving intricate melodies and captivating the listener with a mesmerizing blend of precision and raw emotion. But it is not only his guitar skills that set him apart; it is the unmistakable timbre of his voice that resonates deep within the core of our souls. There is a richness and warmth that emanates from his vocal delivery, evoking a sense of intimacy that can touch even the most hardened hearts. Whether he croons with a gentle tenderness or unleashes a gritty intensity, his voice carries an authenticity that leaves an indelible mark on the listener. Through his artistry, Mark Knopfler has elevated the guitar to a level of expression rarely witnessed. His fingers effortlessly navigate the fretboard, producing a tapestry of tones that paint vivid landscapes of sound. Each strum, each bend, and each slide tells a story, revealing the myriad shades of human emotion. His music becomes a companion, a confidant, and a conduit for our own experiences. Mark Knopfler's guitar and vocal styles have the power to transport us to a realm beyond the ordinary. They speak a language that is universally understood, transcending barriers of culture, language, and time. His music has the ability to touch the very essence of what it means to be human, reminding us of our shared experiences and the depth of our emotions. In the realm of guitarists and vocalists, Mark Knopfler stands in a league of his own. His unparalleled talent, coupled with his ability to evoke profound emotions, has made an indelible impact on the world of music. He is a true maestro, a master storyteller who weaves sonic tales that linger in our hearts and minds long after the final note fades away.

This expresses how I feel when I listen to this. We each have the fields of distruction we've suffered through and Mark speaks with his guitar, the emotions that no word can express. The night that I held my Mom's hand as she passed from life to death, this song was playing in my mind...not just the words, but every note played expressed the suffering we were experiencing. I thank Mark for understanding and giving a gift to validate and help heal.

@@riccardoverde4683 I haven't seen your review before (I've been sick for a long time), do you ask if you would feel that way... Yes, because personally, I and my family felt great losses in the last two wars (13 of my father's brothers died in the Second World War, and my grandfather and my grandmother were slaughtered by Italian soldiers and set on fire in the house, and I survived the war in the 90s, when my homeland Croatia was attacked by Serbia, just as Russia attacked Ukraine, and in that war two of my wife's brothers died, as well as 25 of my friends with whom I grew up ) SO HOW WOULD I FEEL and at the end here is an example cold rainy autumn around 3:30 in the morning darkness 5Celsius Serbian howitzers have not stopped for the last half hour and someone has played Brothers in Arms it is barely audible over the rumble of shells and suddenly the comrades get up tired (four no one slept at night) wet, frozen, hungry, clutching their weapons with frozen fingers, and someone says, "Shall we go, boys?" and a RUSH is heard, and the brothers rush for weapons into the darkness. Glory to those who stayed forever on the land of Croatia. That's when you ask HOW I WOULD FEEL
