"Hoover Dam is a mighty dam that could never stop." Lol. Titanic is a mighty ship. It could never sink.

Here's some facts: there are 17 turbines at Hoover Dam. 5 of them will function at water levels as low as 950 feet. The other 12 of the 17 stopped generating power when the water level fell below 1050 feet (20 May 2022). So they can legitimately say that Hoover Dam is still generating power, but it is only 5 of 17 turbines that are still working at all.

I live about 10 miles from source of Colorado River. We had about 30% more snow this year than last year. We are sending more water down, don’t waste it.

Thanks for the great info. I grew up in Vegas but after 27 years in the military I retired in Arkansas where we don't have a water shortage problem. Not generating power is a minor issue compared to the lack of water in the very near future. Officials are quick to point out how much water consumption has been reduced over the years. I think that the truth of the lie is that when you reduce water consumption in half but quadruple population you have doubled the amount of water usage. This does not Evan account for visitors doubling the population on any given weekend. Vegas is still building like crazy. No thought of the future and the lack of water. PLEASE COME TO VEGAS WHERE WE HAVE NO STATE INCOME TAX. Vegas will soon become a Ghost Town.

This brings back memories. I took a tour of this dam over 30 years ago, the same week Phoenix AZ hit an all time high of 122 degrees. Boy was it hot at the dam but the lake behind the dam was nearly full. This was also before the bypass bridge was built. I don't remember seeing any solar panels in the area back then.

What I found is that below 1050 feet there is a danger of air bubble cavitation which causes damage to the structure and pipes. So yea it may still generate power but it may also be destroying itself in the process.
