Unsure if anyone mentioned this, but this was a collaboration between Dimmu Borgir, Agnete Kjølsrud (from the Norwegian band Djerv, the female vocals), The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) and the Norwegian chamber choir Schola Cantorums. They only did this particularly setup once with this particular setup at Forces of the Northern Night (a live concert in Oslo)

The beautiful part about Scandinavia and much of Europe is there way more open-minded and way more encouraging to the Arts in terms of funding, and cooperation. This show, was broadcast on live television in Norway, and features a well-respected Norwegian Orchestra who took it as another gig representative of the musical arts in general. They don't seem to have the kind of disdain and need to categorize everything that we seem to have over here in the US. You are under percent right that was symphonic black metal fully-realized with a real Orchestra. The studio room cordings were largely Symphony libraries and digital orchestrations put together by their brilliant keyboardist mustus who is sadly no longer in the band. But yeah this is the shit, and it deserves props from start to finish on all levels of the production for being so amazingly put together. All music can coexist with each other so long as there is intellect and intelligence guiding it. Cheers.

Powe Metal by definition is "try hard", because it is over-exaggerating, it is over-the-top, it is overdone theatrics, it is POWER Metal, mate. Why the fuck do you think the genre is called that? It's not because every other Power Metal band isn't overdoing everything and Kamelot are the crazy, cringy, try-a-bit-too-hard guys. Every Power Metal band is crazy and a bit cringy. Comes with the whole "wanting to portray something epic" factor.

Dimmu Borgir is a Norwegian symphonic black metal band from Jessheim, Norway formed in 1993. The name is derived from Dimmu borgir, a volcanic formation in Iceland, the name of which means "dark cities" or "dark castles/fortresses" in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse. The Broadcasting Orchestra, you see is known as KORK, which has a very special place in the hearts of Norwegians and the concert I believe is from Oslo Spectrum. What he was saying in the beginning in the video: Vocalist: Are you ready for a symphonic metal evening with dimmu borgir? Are you ready, the next song is "Gateways"then you can probably guess who we have with us. Anette (girl's name) from Djerv (Another metalband) LOL, the song it’s called «GATEWAYS» of course they sing in English.…. What did you expect Japanese, or Hindi! You guys have so much to learn😂😂

it's funny, with this live clip with Dimmu no creds go to the band for one off their most influencial songs but all that remains from this song is Agneta, this song is so much more than just her, she is an increddible vocalist but compaired to mucisians in Dimmu, it's not that great. she delivers exactly what she should, and she sings just the a fraction off a verse and a little with Stian (the main vocalist) I think this piece off music shoudn't be rembered just by her. The pure talent off musicianship with an orchestra is incredible if you think about timing and buildup off the structure in the song and the arrangements, then deffineatly it should go to the band. Agneta wouldn't be anything without the chourus or the verse in with the band or they're orchestration. Dimmu invited her to a part yet she is the highlight for most people. I don's see it. Please people, appriciate good mucisians when you see them. tnx from Noray

Well. I love Both Nightwish and Dimmu Borgir. (And a lot more). Dimmu Borgir is not just noise, it's very complicated so it takes a while to get used to the signature of the band. I was in Oslo when they performed this gig back in 2011, didn't have a ticket, but damn it was a crazy night the party afterwards.

I love Nightwish, but it's more or less metal for kids and grannies. That's why everyone is reacting to them. Dimmu Borgir or Epica are more metal and in some ways better than Nightwish. If you are unable to hear how f*cking epic and incredible this music is, and you only hear noise, perhaps you don't have the best ear for music after all.
