Yesss finally you got into Dimmu, one of the best blackmetal band from my country of Norway. The orchestra was hired for the evening if i'm not mistaken :)

Yes, the orchestra was hired for the event, however Dimmu Borgir has several albums where an orchestra was part of the recording progress.

If you enjoyed this live performance, I would check out the full performance of “Forces of the Northern Night Live 2012 Wacken”, specifically the final track played at that show called, “The Mourning Palace”. Watch the orchestra very closely. A Trombonist presents something special. Also, “Dimmu Borgir Gateways, Live-Forces of the Northern Night”, is absolutely an amazing performance. The best Dimmu Borgir performance I have ever seen on any show. The female vocalist, Wow! Absolutely incredible! She mixes so well with the lead singer Shagrath. 😊

Correct. This is probably the cherry on top for Symphonic Black Metal. Wacken (pronounced with a v) is held in Germany. Seen these guys few years back with Behemoth. You might wonder down that road when you are ready lol.

Wow.....this is a deep dive! Dimmu are legends in the metal community. Really cool you jumped in the deep end!! My personal fave is Kings of the Carnival Creation

some orchestra members play also in black metal bands, that's why some have their faces painted

Genre is Symphonic Black Metal. And the orchestra was brought in just for this concert although they do hire orchestras for their studio albums. Not part of the band however. Great reaction!

I saw amazing Dimmu B. about 20 years ago just starting to play, but my compies suddenly wanted to see another band so I (stupid me) left their stage to joyn my 'friends'. Worst moment of that day..

Do you want to hear a god sing? Go to Tommy Johansson's YT channel and listen. He played guitar in Sabaton until recently and has his band Majestica. Releases a cover every Friday. Godsend. Multi-instrumentalist and does everything himself, sings and plays all instruments. Go in and enjoy

Try and listen to the album version as well! The choir part is actually supposed to be sung by Vortex, their old clean vocalist/bassist. At this point he wasn’t in the band anymore, and the band went downhill significantly.
