Yes, those are his competitors, and they were not only astounded, but very admiring and supportive of him. This show was way more professional than the Idol and Who's Got Talent syndications. The competitors didn't audition. They were professional singers hand-selected by the producers. Dimash was the only foreigner and youngest competitor. There were no rude critiques. The audience you see getting so excited choose the favorite performance down to last place each week. Ironically, Dimash did come in second because they had a rule to not give a foreigner the prize money. They didn't anticipate a foreigner would win. Apparently enough people didn't like that, so they changed the rule the next year. Nevertheless, Dimash woke up a super star the morning after he sang "S.O.S." in episode 1. Although his singing has gotten even better, that first S.O.S. is my favorite, because of the reactions from the audience. Also because that was the first time I heard him sing, almost 7 years ago.

Tampoco salió segundo porque el concurso era para los cantantes chinos , que todos eran profesionales. DIMASH recibió un premio por su extraordinaria participación . Ii love watching when people who listen to a myriad of artists and styles discover Dimash. It's been more than 5yrs for me and I still go daily to see who else has found his awesomeness :) Welcome to the Dears! And yes, that was indeed his dad. Dimash didn't know he was there and you see where he finds out, its so sweet!! His dad is also an amazing classical singer as is his mom. His dad, shortly after this 2nd airing of the show, started to help manage his singing career. If you search, you will find a duet of his mom and dad both singing classical and it's just amazing.

I also love watching the performances from "Singer". So yes, this is "the beginning" in terms of his international career lifting off. One of the things I think is really fantastic about "Singer" is how all of the artists respect and admire and try to learn from each other. Dimash made some great friendships on that show and they were all so gracious and welcoming toward this young 'nobody from somewhere else'. Some of the performances on this show have meaningful backstories and special details associated with stuff going on off stage, like Dimash's father surprising him at this performance. You can see the extended version of this with English subtitles on Gloria Wu's channel which shows the interaction with his dad; it's so sweet. Another performance from "Singer" that I suggest watching the full version with English subs on Gloria Wu's channel is "Daybreak". Not only does the backstory on the song lend so much to the performance but what he was dealing with personally adds so much to the value of the performance! Highly recommend!

❤❤❤Yes, it was in Russian. The man highlighted was his father who had taken a leave from his job after Dimash blew up online after his first performance (SOS) aired. He was trying to book a flight to Changsha so Dimash didn’t know he’d arrived already. There’s another clip that’s longer, where you can see the exact moment when Dimash recognized his father in the audience, finished thanking everyone then rushed down to embrace his father, lifting him in the air!😂❤ Then they walk out into the hallway and you hear him asking his father “Did I sing well?” Also in some later interview, he mentioned that had he known his father was in the audience he wouldn’t have acted so cheeky! 😅 I’m not sure whether you noticed that at the end, Dimash was modulating half a tone higher and higher each time, which why the other contestants were freaking out and the audience was going wild! 🎉 Tgese other contestants by the way were all established famous singers with a minimum of one music award. This show (originally called I’m a singer, then changed to just “Singer”) isn’t like The Voice or AGT where new talents are discovered. It’s pitting famous singers against one another, and the “judges” are the 500 people in the audience who get to cast three votes each.

All the other contestants loved Dimash & he made some life-long friends there. Dimash was not allowed to win, as only a Chinese singer could win overall. Dimash won several individual episodes by the audience votes though. I wish you'd kept the video running to see Dimash's reaction when he spotted his Dad, as he had no idea he was there! Their interaction was so lovely & the genuine love & respect for each other was so heart-warming. Also, Dimash asks "Did I sing well?" I have loved and followed all your reactions to Dimash and as a dear thanx for recognizing that Dimash as a generatiinal (20 years) when most vocal coaches out him in the category of centuries of talent having now 8 octaves as you will see going to so many live performances that he lives for. You have info on Freddy Mercury that is incorrect though he is one of dimashs idols. In the band Queen Roger May the drummer had the highest vocals and even he didn’t have a low register. In the opera section of bohemian rahpsody there are live recorded documentaries of Freddy yelling at Roger to go higher higher for the background vocals before going into the hard rock section, live, if you watch and listen from the drums Roger was hitting the highest soprano notes in the background. Though Freddy had a wonderful back pground in music and vocals from his boys schools he no where near had 7 octaves…his was closer to to 4, though he had many vocal techniques and an amazing voice still having his molars. But Freddy did many things with his voice that Dimash nor none of the 6 octave vocalist (Mariah, Axel Rose, Barbara Streisand, and others who had wide ranges did). Freddy live had cold beer and Pepsi in glasses that he drank from in his concerts. His openly sexual activities without protection early in his career was not concern of a person who protectected themselves or their voice. Celin Dion used to carry a writing board around with her her not speaking to conserve her voice for her concerts. Mariah though having a large range and vocal training smoked to get her low register. Michael had surgery to keep his high register. About 3 or 4 of the most famous recent pop star have had surgeries because, first they weren’t classically trained, second their American producers and “yes” people used them to pieces..then what did they do? … they stared right up singing again. On Ave Maria with Dimash you observed a fully developed soprano register from Dimash with no falsetto. How? In dimashs vocal training dimashs vocal coach would not let Dimash sing falsetto. Now, Dimash lets no one tell him anything. Remember this about any conetent you see or hear from Dimash yes he collabs, but Dimash is an independent contract having no paperwork not even with his producer father who he collabs with. Everything Dimash puts out he has his approval on the final product. SOS that you watched from the digital show, Dimash hired 400 people for that. His newest video music movie “When I’ve got you” a few days old that you haven’t seen he hired 70 people. Dimash has collabed wupith Igor Krutoy a Russian billionaire composer producer for several years who came out of retirement at the live version of Sinful passion sitting in the front row with a bald head and a white shirt out of his pants giving a standing ovation when others in the audience never showed i enthusiasm for this masterpiece performed. Igor offered his mentorship and 5 of 10 of his songs for dimash to perform. Igor composed the Ave Maria and Olympico for the European Olympic Games that Dimash performed. Recognition to Freddy for his many accolades, voice, composing, and production of the famous bohemian that Dimash has always loved and admired. But like many entertainers who have saddened name personally by taking their talent away from me too early as I have loved Freddy years before Freddy’s, dimise when he wasn’t using protection for female and male liaisons and group sex he was not just not protecting himself from hiv but many stds that cause all kinds of sicknesses including mental disorders. He composed the song and released it in appreciation to his fans last year on his birthday. It is very beautiful. You will also want to check out his MV, The Story of One Sky. Again, he composed the music, he wrote the story line, he was one of the main characters and he sings every note although it will seem like many people. You will hear so many different versions of his voice. It is an intense video about war and the need for peace. 3 childhood friends and where they end up. One turns into a dictator starting a war, two who get married. Good vs Evil, need for peace, understanding and respect between people of all cultures and religions is the basis. It is as I said an intense video, often hard to watch but the message is who he is. 12 minute long video and you may have to filter many of his videos because You Tube just loves to block Dimash videos.

The high-note chorus represents the sound of the wind around his little cabin. Those backstage were indeed competitors but also seasoned professionals. Dimash was the unknown wildcard who won over the audience and the others on the show. He came in second after several weeks of competition due to some technicality about the winner representing the Chinese music industry as an ambassador. Dimash's invite was a PR stunt, however the following year the rules were changed.

Dimash performs here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. The song by Russian singer Vitas was already popular in China, so the show's production team asked Dimash to perform "Opera 2" for the second stage of the competition. However, they forgot to obtain permission from Vitas in a timely manner, and he and his team of lawyers would not grant permission to Dimash to perform the song publicly. Fortunately for us, and to the chagrin of Vitas, the Chinese had already streamed the performance online. Dimash decided to surprise the audience with a lively version of three additional key changes on top of the one done in the original. Unbeknownst to Dimash, his father had come from Kazakhstan to watch him perform this song and surprised him at the end of the performance. Dimash was so happy and excited to see his dad. I watched some behind-the-scenes footage from after the performance. Dimash actually asked his dad if he thought that his performance had been ok. Lol. He is so humble. There is also a second performance of this song after the "I Am A Singer" competition. This was his second song [of about 10 I think]- the Singer competition is the best. The competitors were amazing and so friendly. The audience was amazing. The Chinese competition and organisation was amazing which is why Dimash keeps going back. The videos of all his performances in The Singer are amazing. Singing in Russian. He sang 6 languages in the competition.

Yes that was his father. He actually came in second in this contest to a singer not nearly as good. He was the youngest contestant and the only foreigner in the contest.. that’s why knowing China,he came in second. After his performance was aired on Chinese tv people loved him immediately and the internet was jammed with over 600,000 calls.

If you continue with The Singer performances, find the videos with the English subtitles. All of the CCTV aired "The Singer" performances have a version with the English subs. That way you can see the lyrics and also what the people are saying. Very entertaining. Also, there are "full" versions where they show behind the scenes before and after the performances that are great fun. Watch the official original videos not the fan made versions as some of the fans do some frequency adjustments downward with the audio of Dimash singing to avoid copyright infringement so you don't know if you are listening to the original audio or not. Of course, the CCTV official videos from their KZread channel need filters to avoid blocking.

Dimash speaks fluent Russian and Kazakh. He is learning English and Mandarin Chinese. He was 22 in this video, and he'll be 30 this birthday in May. His English and Chinese have really developed well. Dimash is brilliant, recently performed with opera great Placido Domingo, and is about to or just recently did complete his doctorate in Musicology (I think). Yes, that's his daddy. He surprised him with a visit. Dimash had not seen his family for several weeks and it was a special surprise visit. So sweet!

Dimash came in second in this The Singer 2017 Chinese singing competition ... that was because of chinese policies ... non China resident were not aloud to win the competition. I believe there was also a resident of Taiwan amoung the competitors. Mister Qudaibergen was a ¨wild card¨ introduction. I am very Happy that he was showcased. No surprise, Dimas won week 2 of The Singer as he had won week 1 with SOS! I imagine you're beginning to realize Dimash isn"t "the new" Freddie, MJ, or any other singer. Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. Opera2 is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. The crazy thing is that Dimash placed second in this competition!!!! This is a Russian song and is the signature song of a Russian singer named Vitas. Vitas goes up a key during it as well, but Dimash went up twice as well as doing that staccato in the next to last modulation which outdid Vitas. The show didn't get permission for Dimash to sing this song and apparently Vitas didn't like that Dimash showed him up on the song Vitas was so identified with and he won't allow Dimash to sing it again. (The same thing happened when Dimash sang Lionel Ritchie's "Hello" during the competition. Ritchie purportedly won't give Dimash permission to sing it again because Dimash blew the original away.) Also, some commenters are chastising you for pausing and rewinding but ignore them. You are doing a reaction, not a listening session. Listening all the way through with no stops can get you banned. If someone wants to just listen to the entire song uninterrupted, they can go to Dimash's channel and listen to the original. Your job IS to stop during it and give reaction and comment.

Actually at the very very end, the competitors were reacting because his dad surprised him by flying in from Kazahkstan. He had no idea he was there & it was a beautiful moment between the two. Definitely watch that to the end when you have time. Thanks for spotlighting Dimash! 🎤🎼

funny thing about that competition is that there were no amatours there, competitors and judges (audience as judges) were all music related professionals, so it was not easy to impress them, but they were impressed :)

There were a lot of copyright issues, violations, with the Hunan TV production company. As I understand it, not only Vitas’ record label, but others also protested the show’s broadcasting of songs for which they had not received permission. Nor had they paid for the right to use them. Vitas composed this song to showcase his high vocal range.The upsweeps are meant to mimic the howling autumn winds blowing around his house, trying to get in.

Not true about Richie. An explanation from an entertainment lawyer: Under US law, Lionel Richie can't stop him from either performing it or recording it. While a songwriter can technically prevent people from performing their songs live, or require exorbitant payment, Lionel Richie has waived that right by registering Hello with ASCAP, one of the two big US performance rights organizations. When a songwriter registers a song with ASCAP, any venue or radio station that buys a blanket license from ASCAP (which is literally all of them in the US and all the big ones worldwide) has automatic permission to perform every song in its catalog. The only way to opt out for a particular song is not to register it in the first place.

The fun story is that he came in china with only 2 or 3 days clothes because he was persuaded to go back early in its country (here is its second song he made at this competition) and it was necessary for him to in shop with security guys because of he's incredible success.

Noone suspected he is that good. But regulations were not prepared for that situation. Dimash came second :) Regulations were changed after that and they invited him as guest star for 2018 finals
