"Love is like a Dream" was afovorite song of mine for about 25 years, have a Cd of Alla Pugachova singing the song; but when I heard DIMASH just sing it with a "killer" performance , I was so blown away. I heard well known Russian singers saying on TV they were not interested in performing this song anymore after DIMASH's performance. One of them said "how could it be done better"?

Yes and this one performance was in 2019 and undoubtedly one of the most significant versions by Dimash. From La Era Dimash: LOVE IS LIKE A DREAM / Любовь похожая на сон This song was released in 1994 (the same year Dimash was born) and was a great in Russia. It was Valeria Gorbacheva who wrote the lyrics and the musical composition belongs to Maestro Igor Krutoy who transformed the author's words into a work of art. The first interpreter of this legendary song was Alla Pugachova and the popularity of the song was so great that it won great prizes in Russia and, in fact, it was used as a wedding march at Russian weddings. The second artist to interpret this piece was Lara Fabian, who of course gave unforgettable performances with her beautiful unique voice. In the year 2019, Dimash Qudaibergen burst onto the Russian stages and chose to re-release this song in April of that year, together with his friend and teacher Igor Krutoy. On the day of the premiere, the Kazakh singer wowed the audience with an absolutely unexpected and phenomenal version, winning a standing ovation. His look, facial expression, movements and of course his exceptional voice have made this version unique and incomparable. Dimash Kudaibergen breathed new life into it 25 years later, making it a hit again.

This was the first newly released performance I saw after discovering Dimash, and though I already loved his music, this was when I fell head over heels *in* love!😊❤️ (and of course, cried like a baby throughout!)

Thank you for not pausing. Dimash sings such songs that interrupting them should be deemed a criime. Many people can sing high or low octaves....but its how uou use them, and the quality of tone, control, phrasing, and nuance. The dynamics...and authenticity Dimash brings is unique only to him. Another very enjoyable reaction. I have watched this performance countless times over the past years, and I still tear up each time. This will always be one of my favorite Dimash performances. Igor Krutoy (on piano) composed this song 25 years ago for Alla Pugacheva and modified it for Dimash to sing for this concert given in honor of Mrs. Pugacheva on April 8, 2019, in Moscow. As you probably already know, Igor Krutoy came out of retirement to compose masterpieces for Dimash after watching his performance of Sinful Passion in 2018. He is finally able to compose music without constraints placed on him by the vocal limitations of ordinary singers; high notes, low notes, whatever his genius mind can conceive, Dimash will be able to perform. Someone explained on another person's page the different elements of the song. There are three sections: In the first and longest, Dimash addresses the audience, describing his dream-like love. In the middle section, Dimash lives the dream. Notice he disengages from the audience; his eyes are closed, then he opens them and looks up. The audience has ceased to exist for him. In the final section, he wakes, notices the audience again, then tells them how the dream made him feel. Which is energized!

Igor wrote this song for his earlier muse, Russian singer Alla Pugacheva, whose ravaged voice worked well with the autumn romance themes of the lyrics. I can't help but wonder if when he came out of his (billionaire's) retirement after hearing Dimash's 'Sinful Passion' he was thinking, "What could a voice like this do with 'Love is Like a Dream'?" (By the way, Pugacheva is considered to be a gay icon in Russia by the Russian LGBT community.) The spellbinding "Ava Maria, Ava amour" descant hymn section is not in Igor's prior versions with Pugacheva. To me, this section is a paean to the eternal feminine, that part of our spirit that is eternally loving, healing and generative. It's as if he is saying, "My earthly love for you burns from within with something Celestial, Holy." And it's so damn beautiful it's made me cry more times than I can count. 😭 I also like the way the song shows off so much of Dimash's range in both timbre and pitch (even though, in other live performances he has produced strong whistle tones two octaves higher with strong vibrato and duration). And the many ornaments Dimash has added, e. g. the lovely mordents on "I love you", truly make the song his own. Thanks again for a great reaction! ❤️🎵🎉

His been singing since he was 5 and both parents are opera singers, his a master of his talent, his voice is an art. His arguably the best singer in the world, coming in with 8-9 octaves, in 1 song he hits D8 note.

Composed by Maestro Igor Krutoy , the pianist, but rearranged a bit by he and Dimash, who incidentally was 25 years old when he sang this. Dimash's cover was more from the male's perspective and adding the Ave Maria angel section was also Dimash's idea. What a stunning performance! Thanks for a lovely reaction. 💞

Great reaction. Incredible vocal performance from Dimash. He is such a master of how he utilizes his air. I remember the first time I saw his SOS video from the Chinese vocal competition and was just smacked at how he sang. I said to myself where is he getting his air from. There are moments in his performances that you can see and hear him breathe and then there are others that it doesn't look like he's even breathing. Oh I particularly liked how you reacted on the moments where he's real breathy withsome nasal palate mixing in that makes you feel like your floating on a cloud. I hope you know the person announcing and playing the piano is Russian composer Igor Krutoy.

"Sometimes there's just no good place to stop"--exactly!!! You are the first reactor I've watched who mentioned this. With other singers, you can kind of figure out where you can probably pause the performance to insert your commentary. But with Dimash, where the delivery "morphs" constantly from beginning to end, you know that no matter where you pause, you're probably "stomping" on some important moment, whether a peculiar singing effect/technique that you didn't know was coming, or a certain note, or a unique transition of some kind (like right when he plummets from countertenor voice back to, what, baritone-ish?). You just hope for the best when choosing where to pause the playback, I guess. (And when stopping to comment, it doesn't hurt to back up the performance 5-6 seconds when you resume playback, in order to maintain continuity.) Something I noticed with this song (which I love, BTW, 6:53 thru 7:22 🥰) is his quick and audible intake of breath after each line, in the first half of the performance. It's distracting, and this might be the only song I've heard from him where it's so noticeable. Does this kind of thing usually get edited out during post-production?
