This came about because they were both judging at Placido Domingos Virtuoso competition for young performers. The pair got on so well that they did this for a bit of fun. Of course , it's not meant to be serious, just two guys goofing it up for the camera. 😂❤ Dimash did a proper duet with Placido, which will be out on the evening of 26th January on the Virtuosos KZread channel ❤

As already mentioned they were both judges at the Virtuosos competition and the both final episodes will be aired soon. In both episodes Dimash will perform and one of it is a duet with Plácido Domingo. Hauser and Dimash hugged each other and Hauser said something like „Love you bro“. They like each other and had a lot of fun. I think they tested how the audience reacts when they collaborate. And honestly I hope they will collaborate as promised at least for 1 or 2 songs. I understand what you are talking about but that’s Hauser he almost always makes funny faces, starring at the camera and things like that. I think they complement each other quite well. Both experiment with music and have their goofy and serious side.

William, I love your grumpy reaction, and i join you from afar in that coffee. I took this video as a lighthearted advert of sorts: they're doing a cartoon send-up of themselves. The palace at Versailles-esque backdrop, their formal tuxedos (with Hauser's rakish unbuttoned shirt) and Dimash's exaggeration of his usual stage stance - all for fun. Two serious performers at the top of their game, but young enough to retain a sense of play.

I think this was just a fun promo piece. Two guys having some fun. Yes, as soon as I saw it and heard it, I knew it was with a backing track, because it sounded exactly the same as when Dimash performed it with Igor with orchastra and choir with all the percussions and heartbeats. Hauser didn't really add much, agreed. He was just playing the same notes that Dimash sung. Fake or not, Dimash still sound awesome as always.

The very ending, to me, sounded a little different - I’m thinking Dimash was singing, but they used the chorus backing track.

This isn't an official video, the second part where Dimash is in the sparkly jacket actually came first, they were messing about in the foyer of the building during a break in filming but their jokey Instagram post got over 11 million hits in a week so I think they decided to go back and do it properly hence the change of jacket for Dimash. Someone then decided to put the two IG posts together and put it on KZread as a "full performance". Poor Dimash, he can't even goof around with new friends without someone making him look bad!

He's renowned as the bad boy of classical music, always with a beautiful woman on his arm, doing glamorous photoshoots in deserts etc etc. personality wise he's the complete opposite of Dimash but he was the closest man in age to Dimash on the jury of The Virtuosos and they hit it off although Dimash was notoriously absent when Hauser went clubbing later on and Dimash was seen quietly playing the piano in the foyer of his hotel. 🤣

they are preparing for us to see them and Placido Domingo at the youth music awards later this month, the 19th I think of maybe the 29th. Not really sure. Yes, they did it for fun between work, they amused themselves and Dimash never refuses to please his Dears and peers, never thinks himself above anyone, he is that kind of person, so we smile and love, because that is what he does to us, make us smile, rejoyce, love, and be better humans. Hello William, nice to see you reacting again. I’m torn on this one. As a cellist, I have often believed that Dimash’s voice is well-aligned with the cello and Hauser is certainly easy on the eyes making the visual representation of these two very handsome men lovely to watch. I have had opportunity to play while standing, but it is less reliable (as far as intonation, tonality and sound production is concerned) than sitting, but for camera it is good to have the two on a similar level. Initially I was under the impression the tracks were just not synchronized properly (there is a very short excerpt that is definitely out of synch since Hauser is not even bowing at the same time, but this one was a bit better as it seems more complete). I suspect they both may have been playing/singing but unmiked and the track was studio dubbed afterward. Doesn’t diminish my respect for both artists but does make me focus on Hauser’s antics (a bit distracting). Still a lovely duo to my ear. Hope you have a great year! Cheers from Canada!

Hello Cynthia, it’s not to be taken seriously, apparently ! But “Ave Maria” maybe not the best choice. Hauser doesn’t do it for me and never has. He’s like that guy in the bar who hasn’t shaved and has had a few too many glasses of wine! Messy and overbearing. It’s wonderful that you play the cello and isn’t it just lovely to play it sitting down, like Jacqueline de Pre or Paul Tortelier? 😀🤩

@@BangkokVoiceCoach we all have different tastes in what we find visually appealing. Admittedly, I preferred Hauser during his clean shaven era, but to each his own. I always feel misty when I consider Jacqueline DuPres. A talented musician lost way too early. I’ve had the honour of meeting Yo-yo Ma many years ago (let’s put it in perspective- similar era to having also met Rostropovich in his later years!). Hauser and others are at least attracting a new and younger audience, but I sometimes question at what cost? Of course I am there for Dimash’s vocals and the cello holds a beautiful place in my heart.Sitting is preferable!

You`re not wrong, hearing Ave Maria in a car commercial and in a fashion show poorly mixed with wolf and dog sounds, was not the easiest things in the world. Can`t wait for the time when Di will get the proper recognition and publicity, and such things won`t be "necessary". Until then, I much prefer collabs with fun people like Burak Yeter, honestly. And for a beautiful vocalise, with someone like Nathan Wang.

I don’t think there’s any instrument they can match Dimash’s voice. Perhaps a baroque trumpet? The cello here seems to lack power and depth as Dimash soars to the skies.

And actually Dimash is so darn busy with guest appearances, prepping his new album he has promised us as coming out this year with new songs he was busy composing last year, filming MVs for new songs, filming something in Xinjiang China (which I am beginning to suspect might be related to Jackie Chan's upcoming film The Myth 2 which Dimash and Nathan Wang were working on the soundtrack for in LA) and concerts all around the world, and, and, and, (LOL). Where he would have time to collab with Hauser is a mystery? It's the same when he and Laura Fabian said they would sing together again but he really hasn't had time to do so yet.

He,he this was actually not a performance, they just met on the Virtuoso event. Stjepan posted just a second part (this video is “glued” from two separate parts (Dimash is not dressed the same)). It got instant attention a the clip got quickly over a million views. Then for the new year he posted another part. Otherwise I agree that somehow Stjepan “show-off” style does not comply with the song. I was many times daydreaming, I would love to hear Dimash together with Luka, but many more people was excited to hear him with Stjepan. Any how we agree he is marvellous cellist. (Actually I don’t think it is prerecorded, Stjepan plays different in first then in second part/attempt…?)

It's not really any kind of official music video, tho I was surprised to see Hauser mugging for the camera...I am not familiar with him; maybe that's just what he does? Anyway this impromptu mash-up (see Dimash's jackets) quickly got a million views on Hauser's channel.....just a fun promo for the upcoming Virtuoso program in which both men are judges, perhaps. At any rate, the go-to version of Krutoy's Ave Maria is still New Wave, where as you know Dimash sings stunningly. Thanks for your always honest reactions!

👍👍well I agree with you William. This short "performance" sounds too fake and I have trouble with it. I know that Dimash is a sincere, natural person and I noticed when he sings on a recorded tape he shows it as much as possible in order to tell us not to be fooled. Thus the absence of headphones and microphone is obvious. This is very evident in another video where with Renat Gaissin (composer), he performs "River of love". Thank you for your opinion. As others have said, Dimash's duet with Placido Domingo will be airing on Friday. I'm sure you will want to do a reaction to that! (Well, I sure HOPE you will do a reaction to that! 😄) I'd also love it if you have time, if you would react to one of Dimash's new songs, "When I've Got You" At the moment there are only fancam versions, but there are some good ones with subtitles. Hi William. I think that this was Hauser's promotional video idea. You can tell by Dimash's body movements that he is singing, even if we are hearing a backing track. I do know that there are live performances of his where he uses the original music and backup singers voices, but he is singing live. I'm not sure if it is mainly with Igor's compositions or not. I do know that in Russia there are rules for TV performances, where they have to be recorded because they don't want any surprises and they want it approved ahead of time. Whatever the reason for this, it was to appeal to Hauser's fan base, and if it gets more people to be aware of Dimash, then that is a good thing. I view this as a commercial :D Hauser seems to really play to the camera. Thank you for your observations and honesty. I'm waiting for the duet with Dimash and Placido! It should be on the 19th or 26th or both.

They are joking - it's just a promo video for Hauser, who is the one who uploaded it on IG (and asked Dimash to collaborate). And it's not a performance, let alone a full performance, it's just a couple of joking fragments in the foyer put together by a third party. Why even react to this?

You`re not alone William, or at least I`m not alone now 😆 I think this looks silly too. Poorly "directed", wonky body positioning and movement, making it all look like a cheap stunt. I could use more words but I`ll stop at that. Dimash keeps a nice decorum in his cross-over endeavours, and when he gets more dramatically flexible, he does so in a more "musical theatre" style, which has it`s own elegance and drama. And no, I don`t think this was an improvised thing, Dimash`s "Ave Maria" recording, with all the choir, his original vocals, the drums and the rest of the instrumentation, was setup by somebody, or added in post by a professional. Ave Maria is a gorgeous recording, vocals included, and Dimash himself only referred to it as "produced". I am glad about the "impromptu collab", which is meant to promote them to each other`s audiences, or at least promote the show "Virtuosos" itself, just wish Hauser`s style didn`t make everything look like a stunt. But hey, the guy loves dragging the cello to the pool, what can I say ? kzread.infosMdBUJtm34Y I think Dimash is a bit more elegant than that. But, to each their own. I`ll probably warm up to the guy`s antics at some point, who knows. P.S. 😆😆😆😆😆 Actually, there have been SO many comments on this video in such a short space of time. People have strong views and it’s good to see a healthy discussion. I don’t like classical crossover when it is brought too far and ends up being crass and commercial. That’s what I mean about that “fine line.” Hauser seems to cross it constantly. Jacqueline du Pré he is not!! Dimash is slats classily elegant and magnificently talented.

Hello and thank you for you reacting to H & D Well, it appaars that a few 'Cans of worms' have been opened. Have you been using 'copy & paste'? On a documentary about Hauser a few years ago now. It remarked on how incredibly shy & reserved he was. When Luka & Hauser decided to forn 2 Cellos. H used Luka as a sounding board to hide is nerves. Luka manages to come through well. As for his Royal Academy training plus plus it started out when as a Band it worked well. The Concers were enjoyable. It was after H reformed 2 Cellos his stupidity was unbearable! As a Cellist when playing 'Classical' I find it best to listen & not watch. His cossover isn't worth the ear pain. I often wondered how often he has to re-thread his bow? As for Dimash if collaboration with Hauser arrives I would be surprised. If for some reason it was in a gundraiser with other artists for World Peace. It may be different. Do i have perfect pitch? Coz i can immediately hear when its a copy and not orignal. this is the EXACTL copy of the dabu version. HAUSER is the only thing live in this video. On their instagram they said its just a FUN VIDEO for future COLLABORATIONS its not a live performance they had fun thats all. There is a follow up video after this where they both explained. NO ISSUES here

Oh goodness, that was exactly my reaction and I was thinking how am I going to say it - but you did! "A bit much" as you said, Dimash starting with the gestures and body movements that seemed to be choreographed, before he even emitted a sound. And surely they could have arranged a countermelody for Hauser to play - just doubling the vocal is cheap and lazy in this instance. Either of them could have made a better arrangement, but it appears that they didn't have creative control in the production of this video. But Dimash sang like an angel of course, even if his singing was pre-recorded.

It wasn't a an MV or anything, just them fooling around, a joke. The one who presented it as a performance confused some people who believed this title.

Hello William. Dimash has definitely a lot of fantastic capabilities but I agree with you ! I think it was a bit too much, after all with this Ave Maria, which is essentially a prayer, exactly as the Magnificat and Te Deum are... It refers to the announcement by Gabriel to Mary that she would conceive a son. Dimash can sing and be accompanied as he wishes, of course, and it was a good idea to shake off the traditional versions, but I assume archangel Gabriel himself would find his performance a bit exaggerate... 😊😊😊

Вообще, если видео заявлено, как клип, то ничего удивительного, если запись наложена. Но есть одно Но. Обратите внимание, что низ одежды у Димаша в начале и конце записи разный. Т.е., скорее всего, делалось несколько попыток записи, и смонтированы самые удачные куски. При наложении записи это бы не имело смысла. Не уверена, что видео, разошедшееся по всему миру, запустили бы с фальшивыми нотами.

Это просто была шаловливая шутка из которой фанат сделал якобы клип, соеденив пару разных фрагментов. Не надо это серьезно воспринимать.

We shouldn't be too critical. Even great musicians are allowed to have fun and send themselves up a bit. But maybe not the right song!!!

This song requires no grand gestures. It is a prayer, something intimate. The organisers of the competition want to give a sweeping performance and use the full palette of impact of these musicians. But they had to consider that they were doing themselves a disservice with these demonstrative performances

It's an impromptu skit. Dimash said he and Hauser had just met for the first time and hit it off. H asked how about we do a song together, suggested Ave Maria to which he already knew the chords and all D had to do was sing over the recorded track. When you think about it, Advertisers sell ads to us all the time using their creative talents, Yet when artists do their own advertising we don't have the generosity to realise they're doing exactly that; in this case a casual, unplanned performance to promote the Virtuoso comp with Placido Domingo and to which I understand Dimash is on the judges panel. hopefully we will see D and H perform together for real.

Why can't Dimash use this music to showcase himself and Hauser? The song was inspired by him or Igor wouldn't have written it as such so its only fitting that Dimash showcases it to the hilt whenever the opportunity arises.
