A-Studio are the band accompanying him. The keyboard player is the composer of the song. The original lead singer died in 2015 so the yodelling that Dimash performed is a Kazakh funeral dirge in honour of the lead singer who passed away.

Батырхан Шукенов, который первым исполнял эту песню, ушёл из "А-Студио" ещё в 2000-м году ради сольной карьеры. В 2015 году участвовал в телевизионном шоу "Один в один". Однажды он не пришёл на съёмки. Оказалось, что он умер из-за инфаркта миокарда. Как я слышал, вечер на "Новой волне" в Сочи был посвящён группе "А-Студио". Поэтому и Димаш, гость фестиваля, исполнял их песню. За клавишами - автор песни.

I've been addicted to youtube reactions to Dimash for 5 years. In all that time, if anyone else did such a deep-dive into the history of this song, and played both the original and Dimash's version, I don't remember it. What tremendous respect you guys have paid to Dimash! For me, there isn't another living artist more worthy of this respect than Dimash. After watching your reactions to SOS, War and Peace, and now Sinful Passion, I wish I could give you 1,000 likes, but youtube doesn't allow it. So I subscribed instead, and I hope many of Dimash's fans do the same, because you've earned that. Bravo, Jared & Jordan.

and SOS is interesting to see the original, it was considered among the top 5 most difficult French songs. I suggest you watch Opera 2, it is the second song with which it competed with the voice of China. The original is sung by Vitas, who later forbade him to play the song 😔, you know why. Then try Adagio from Lara Fabian, there is also The Show Must Go On from Queen, or Lionel Richie - Hello. All these songs have been modified in his style and sound better obviously with his incredible voice

Me too. Even though I've watched this song from Dimash hundreds of times, it's also the first time I've seen the original.

So many choices. His rendition of queen’s the show must go on , on the singer is one of my favorite covers but I love his original works too

Igor Krutoy, the man in white shirt giving his standing ovation, invited Dimash to participate in this festival in the same year. "Sinful Passion" was created in 1998. This is how the song was performed, exactly in the 20th anniversary of this song. It speaks of greater love, greater loss, greater despair, greater desire, greater passion. The loss or lack of this love, in Dimash's interpretation, has the dimension of a loss of life, which one is very anxious to restore. In place of the original purely pop instrumental part (inserts), Dimash included (after the last chorus) his vocalize, a stylized onomatopoeic (like a lament) eastern ornament and the words "дай мне, дай" (give me, give me) with a 23-second melismatic on the last syllable, which is not a simple substitute for a pop musical theme, but an extension of the story sung earlier in words. ❤️🎤🔝🌹🌹👏👏👏

"The song Sinful Passion, was first performed in 1998 by the Kazakh group A’STUDIO and gained leading positions in the CIS charts. Sinful love soon visibly materialized in the clip with soloist Batyrkhan Shukenov. The talented vocalist left the band in 2000. The pianist, the guitar player and the bass man are three of the four original A studio members. The singer passed away and that kind of yodelling part you mentioned was a tribal segment paying respect to him. The percussionist is now Dimash's percussionist.

Dimash uses throat singing here, which is typical for the traditional (especially cult) music of the peoples of Siberia, Mongolia, Tibet and the Turkic peoples, including the Kazakhs.

@Seelia - "Love of Tired Swans 🦢" is my favorite, too, mostly for its sentimental value to me. It's the first time Dimash and Mr. Krutoy were on stage together. That performance catapulted Dimash into the hearts of many more loving Russian 💕DEARs. Plus, it's a beautiful song made more touching by Dimash's voice.

If you want to try something cool, beautiful and different, I recommend Dimash’ duet with Li Yugang (chinese peeking opera singer) at Shanghai spring festival. They sing a combination of drunken concubine and Diva Dance (from the scifi movie fifth element). Dimash goes from devil to dolphin in this!

This was another great reaction. You two definitely stand out among the many content providers on KZread who do reaction videos. There are only a handful of others I enjoy watching as much as I do you. Thank you for providing the original performance of the song by A Studio. I had not listened to it before and know of no other reactors who have shown this clip. The contrast between Dimash's and the original performance is quite stark. Dimash is in a completely different league and made the song his own. Since you already did your research, some of the information I provide here is repetitive. This was his 2018 guest performance at the New Wave competition held annually since 2002 at the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park. FYI, Dimash did not win "The Voice" in China. He took part in an invite-only competition in 2017 for established professional and successful singers, which is called "I Am A Singer." The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash finished the competition in 2nd place overall. The band A-Studio is originally from Kazakhstan. The keyboard player, Baigali Serkebaev, composed the song together with the poet Ilia Reznik, and the song was first performed in 1998. The singer of the group A-Studio passed away in 2015, and in this concert, the group was backing up guest vocalists. The triangle man is multi-percussionist Ilya Pokrovsky, a very talented man and a close friend of Dimash and member of the Dimash team (DQ Team). He plays various percussion instruments and accompanies Dimash in all his concerts. Someone explained that the special tribal riff is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other parts of Asia. A similar technique is also used in some parts of the Middle East. It is referred to by some as a "glottal stop." We use it too when we say "uh oh." A Kazakh KZreadr commented that Dimash used a Kazakh singing technique called 'komeymen aytu.' You can hear it among the Turan Group. Sakha people use this technique too; they call it 'kylyhah.' I read somewhere that the tribal vocalization was a tribute to the deceased singer, as it is similar to a technique usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. This competition was organized by the man in the white shirt who stood up in the first row, Billionaire Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter. He invited Dimash to perform, and it was this performance that prompted him to come out of retirement and compose masterpieces for Dimash to sing, such as I Miss You, Ogni Pietra, Your Love, Stranger, and Ave Maria, just to name a few. Since this concert, he has collaborated with Dimash, writing music with his vocal range in mind, and often accompanying him on the piano. So you'll see more of him. Another performance of this song is from one of his more recent concerts. It is as good or better because you can hear certain parts clearer, and the camera stays on him most of the time. Thank you. Enjoyed your review. Yes, "Stranger" and "Ave Maria" are also in that top tier, but so, too, is some of this ethnic music like "Daididau" and "Samaltau." On the Chinese Show "The Singer" or "I Am Singer," depending on translation, he made the gutsy move to sing in Chinese for the first time in "Autumn Strong," and he recently performed the same music in Japanese, "Ikanaide," singing Japanese for the first time. Because he's Dimash, and because the meanings of the lyrics are different," he performed the two songs quite differently.

Once again I really love the way you two look into the background of the songs you react to. I think it gives a better understanding of them. And you are right that Dimash does covers of songs better out of respect. Unfortunately it seems that not all of the artists whose songs he has covered understand that. People have mentioned "Hello". He also did "My Heart will Go On" from the Titanic movie. Be sure to react to some of his Kazakh songs also: "Daididau", "Samultau" (Tokyo Jazz Festival), "Qairan Elim", "Qaragym Ai" (I like the Digital Concert version though many prefer his live one.). I am absolutely loving your Dimash journey. You guys are the best! I'd never seen the original version of Sinful Passion so that was interesting in itself. Dimash covered Opera 2 (originally sung by Vitas) Lionel Richies Hello but was given cease and desist orders so that he can never sing them again. He also covered Adagio, Love is like a dream, the Show Must Go On, All By Myself and My Heart Will Go On. He has done the Michael Jackson covers which personally I think are his only failures, his voice does not suit them although MJ is one of his idols, luckily I think he's come to realise his strengths and weaknesses more and hasn't attempted them in recent years. He's definitely moved away from doing covers as he's got composers all over the world writing material for him plus the music he composes himself. He's just producing a piece now that he's spent 3 years writing and watching him try to explain to one of the musicians exactly what he wanted was amazing as he sang the flute part sounding exactly like the flute. The clip also showed exactly what a perfectionist he is as even when it sounded great to the others he knew it wasn't exactly what he wanted. Ikanaide is a masterclass in breath control and emotion and was previously performed by Koji Tamaki in the 80s. Even the composer said he had never heard the song performed more beautifully by a non Japanese artist and it was Dimash's first time singing in Japanese.

Hi Debbie, I think is not only about realize his strength and weakness. Remember that majority of those covers were done for I'm a Singer because he had to do covers. If I don't wrong the covers that he has done after the competition only have been Love is Like Dream (2019) through his collaboration with Igor Krutoy and Ikanaide to honor the composer. @@karimmendible5255 isn't Ikanaide one of the songs from "the singer" but in a different language and thus with a different title? i like those "multiple reaction" videos which compare the different versions of one song. not to find "the best" version (which is completely subjective), but to see some background and history of the songs, and how differently several artists (or even eg Dimash himself in different performances at different occasions) are presenting the same song. my suggestions (all of them available on youtube) for such triple reactions would include - "love is like a dream" by Igor Krutoy, versions by Alla Pugacheva (first original version, 25 years ago), Lara Fabian 10-15 years ago, and Dimash, all with Igor at the piano - as well as "Adagio", original being instrumental maybe 300(!) years ago, with text by Lara Fabian 10-15 years ago, and also Dimash. - and as double reaction "Ti amo cosi" by Igor Krutoy, performed 10+ years ago by Lara Fabian with two other singers, and more recently by Lara, Dimash and Aida for Igor's birthday (with the picture of that other deceased singer in the background) - as well as "SOS" by one or several of the original singers, long before Dimash started the first performance of the first episode of the singer" in 2017 with that song, and there are at least 6 different versions by him, one even as a teen maybe 5 years before "the singer"

@@Anson_AKB Yes, you are right. Ikanaide has the same melody of Autumn Strong and I think I have read it has different lirycs (not only the language) but I'm not sure.

This is the second Dimash reaction of yours I have watched. I love that you do your research, and your comments are so insightful! When I discovered "Sinful Passion," I had done what you did, and went back and watched the original. Dimash took a little pop diddy with great lyrics and turned it into a sensual masterpiece, a vocal work of art. Yes, the musicians onstage were 2 of the original band members and Dimash's ethnic "yodeling" in the middle of the song is actually a tribute to another band member who passed away in 2015, I believe. The end is actually 23-24 seconds from breath to breath! 🤯

There are lots of times I wish for translations myself. However, youtube reactors are not well funded entities, able to themselves make multilingual translations or to pay for all the translators in order to provide every language or even a dozen languages. You can, however, do a youtube search on "(Song title)" lyrics "(language desired)" which might be helpful.

Great reaction, great perspective and words to describe how Dimash makes me feel. There is more than just one song or interpretation or cover, but if you want to go in order I sugest you react to "Love is like a dream" is different to what you've been reacting so far, it would be very interesting to see what it makes you feel. Before yo react to Stranger, I sugest youj go almost in a chronological order. Hello is another must, It is a cover of Lionel Richie's song. Opera 2 is a performance that took place even before Sinfull passion and is another must. Any way, in the end it's up to you, any of these songs or covers are amazing. Last but not least, befor Stranger, you should try Ogni pietra, you can find it as "Dimash Kudaibergen & Igor Krutoy - Olimpico". The list is long, hahaha. Greetings from México.

Great reaction, I liked the research you did prior to watching Dimash's version. I've done that and more myself on a bunch of his covers and original songs. Currently I believe his cover of the Japanese song "Ikanaide" to be one of his best. A close second would be his Cover of Lara Fabian's song "Adagio" which is in English. The best version he does of "Adagio" is from the Chinese TV show "I am a singer in 2017. He came in first place for the week on that show with "Adagio".

Hi Jared and Jordan, when you look at the lyrics, they are powerful and full of emotion, for me, he truly brings the passion of the lyrics to life❤️. Another singer that also does that is Lara Fabian singing Je Suis Malade, comparing her version to the original, night and day difference. Lara is an idol of Dimash, they also perform together and Dimash covered Lara’s Adagio, incredible performance, you can see the influence Lara has on Dimash, they both become the song they are performing, not just singing, performing ❤️. Thank you guys, I appreciate your reactions, I had never heard the original.

So good, that was one of the most thorough reactions I've ever seen. I especially loved, and really appreciated, how you reviewed the original too beforehand. I have myself watched that before, although many possible won't have so, and like you guys, thought it was a lovely song, and very well sung by them too. But Dimash has taken what was a plain but tasty cake and decorated with unicorns, fairy dust and sprinkles of gold! Like the difference between a master chef with every ingredient in his pantry know to man, and a home cook. Uncomparable! I'd love you to watch Hello, Lionel Richie cover. It's amazing too, and no longer belongs to Lionel, in my humble opinion. 💞🦌
