Henry, I think Dimash and Igor did the vocalization simply because it needs no translation for all his multi-lingual fans as Dears. He wanted to reach the soul directly emotionally which he did exquisitely without being encumbered by language. The religious angle is not his intent. The man incrementally heals the soul by his commitment to excellence. The world needs him.

Dimash puts himself in a very vulnerable position here. Nowhere to hide if any note was off but of course it wasn’t. It is heavenly.

The clouds, his eyes, the choir, starting a cappella, his face before he starts, the purity of sound, absolutely Divine sound from above. The first time I viewed this, from the moment I saw Dimash at the mic, moving slowly to the mic and bowing his head, closing his eyes, something transcendent coming thru his body and face.....and then.....that first tone…….my eyes filled with tears......thru the entire piece.....and each time I've watched again…..the sheer etherial sublime heavenly beauty of his sound coupled with emotions of hope and compassion…….Even the choir is applauding. I think it’s more than the “vocals” he is using that is so appealing but the resonant beauty and the heart centered feeling of those vocals that is gripping and so moving….his singing radiates a light out over the world bringing much needed… warmth.....healing......comfort……radiance ……transcendence..…….. 🧚‍♂️ I once heard that if you really know the Divine you move away from talking about "it", analyzing it, conceptualizing it and building monuments to it. If you have to discuss, analyze and conceptualize then you do not really "know" the Divine. It is as if Dimash is so connected, he communicates at the Divine level not thru words, but simply resonates vibrationally without words....he "knows....and therefor has no need for words, concepts and ideas.....just pure sound vibrations at the level of the Divine.

Agree. Till a point where I asked myself "why to watch" and "what's happening". I'm neither Christian nor Muslim, but it never came as a question knowing how educated and inclusive Dimash is. Moreover, is it really a "thing" a Muslim or a animist singing Ave Maria as a piece of beautiful classic art?

The feeling he is transmitting does not need words ...it's the build up of emotion caused just by his perfect voice . I wasn't disappointed at all just moved to tears ❤️

Thank you for the reaction! Just want to share my personal feeling here. I actually appreciated the vocalise a lot. I think it made Ave Maria more universal. For someone like myself, who doesn't speak Italian, who is not Christan, and who is not familiar with Ave Maria at all. This song still conveyed the heavenly sensation. It touches my soul. It expressed a common emotion beyond words.

Just a brief technical note you probably already know but your audience might not. That last gorgeous note was the most difficult messa di voce, a classic bel canto dynamic in which a quiet sustained note first crescendos then decrescendos without losing pitch. Dimash added a final crescendo to close the phrase. The breath support necessary to create a smooth messa di voce is difficult for even the most educated opera or art performer, especially a countertenor, to accomplish successfully. And as usual Dimash nailed it.

Whatever his belief, he sings this from his soul and it's heavenly He truly has a gift from God.

Dimash himself asked Igor Krutoy to write him Ave Maria! This is Dimash's choice! And this once again underlines the respect that Dimash has for different cultures, religions and people in general! Nationality, race, religion should not be a reason for confrontation. Probably Dimash cannot sing the words of a Christian prayer, but he can convey the flight of the soul and thoughts directed to God!

From Quran bible start with One chapter dedicated for Maria (Surai Mariam). So we can see that before Dimash start to sing. Dimash he prepare himself very respectfully, because he dedicated for her.

Yes it's obvious that Dimash seems to be a very inclusive person, who respects all humans and cultures. That's a beautiful thing.

It's an unbelievably beautiful song...about (a form of) love...sprituality...and feeling something so deeply in your heart as well as your very soul. That's all that Dimash needs to want to sing it. And one syllable is all he needs to be able to bring people to actual tears. (Thank God for us!)

He's not just repeating, he raises the level higher and higher as he gets ready to jump from the dark to the light, as in the Ave Maria song., This is why he is in black and white. Plus he keeps extending holding that note longer and longer before switching.

Dimash is the only one who, without singing a single word, can provoke so much. It was a composition by Igor Krutor, and it is not so difficult to understand because it has no lyrics. Igor shared the origin of this composition. Three months before the Sochi New Wave 2021, Dimash requested Maestro to compose a song specifically mentioned the title "Ave Maria" and share his idea of how it should sound. So, the good maestro was inspired to write the music and Dimash loved it first time hearing it.

This song is great. It always amazes me how people can listen to music and talk at the same time.

Hi Bud, Great informative reaction. Dimash approached Igor a couple of months before 'New Wave' and asked him could he compose an 'Ave Maria' for him. According to Igor this is based on the Schubert piece using only 3-4 notes and Dimash got back to him within a half hour of receiving it and said it is excellent 'just what he wanted' !! He saved this till the last night of the NW festival. 👍👍😊😊

Dimash is Muslim but I don't think many people realise that in Islam Jesus is also a very prominent figure. Personally I think Dimash simply loves this piece since it is part of his classical background and this arrangement is definitely more towards that of Cassini

This "Ave Maria" is a homage to the Caccini composition, which only has 3 lyrics, Ave, Maria, Amen. A very talented Russian countertenor, Vyatchelsav Kagan-Paley (aka "Slava"), released a CD in the 90s of nothing but various versions of "Ave Maria". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vyatcheslav_Kagan-Paley. His Caccini piece is exquisite, and has long been a favorite of mine. Hearing Dimash singing Igor's composition, I was transported back to the Slava concert I attended in Tokyo!

#HoftheStage this is my interpretation of this song (and my opinion, alone). The initial sounds (the synth and percussion) signify a passing of life. Then the heart beats, slowing down to stop, the body has siezed of life. Then Dimash starts singing, breathy and lower pitch, gradually increasing in pitch and dynamic to signify the spirit exiting the body, becoming light, and raising towards the heavens. The minor chord that you mentioned is the spirit being a little bewildered or nervous about what lies ahead. Then the song continues its journey in height and dynamic, increasing in percussion, becoming increasingly elated. Until the final note (the Messa di Voce), arriving at where the spirit belongs, with a feeling of peace.

Very eloquent and beautiful description❤️ I have heard some others interpreting the song like that too. One of them a male reactor (Dear): "That's your heart beat. It stops. And when you are crossing over, you see a light - - and then you hear THAT. That's how it should sound - -". Very touching. For me, this makes a lot of sense. Especially when there has been so much people dying for this pandemic... There seems to be something special in this piece and how it affects people. I would like to hear a psychoanalysist's take about this. 🙏

Inspiration that inspires more inspiration, we need more of those these days. Igor's Ave Maria connects the dot of the past to the present and at the same time to the future. This version of Ave Maria will be remembered long after. It is a beautiful composition that one will often return after a long day, or first thing in the morning. It is light but not cheap, it is the quality but not heavy. One can listen to it to appreciate its elegance and tranquility without relate it to religious or history. I can picture this song still played in futuristic settings a hundred or two hundred years later. It's timeless.

It is a version emptied of its words, it is universal. She speaks to believers, regardless of religion. And to non-believers, whatever, we all feel the beauty of this composition born of the magnificent duo Krutoy / Dimash

Igor is Jewish, Dimash is Muslim, this is based on a Christian piece. Also, Dimash's outfit goes from darkness up to light.
