The film I wrapped on this week is still in need of some funds to help wrap up production over the next few weeks and to help secure flying us all back in to finish filming in the spring. Cedric, I have heard this performance of Dimash great number of times and have shed tears as many times. This time I was watching your reaction. Not what you were saying but the expression on your face. I suspect you have a very lovely, tender nature interspersed with some explosive moments. I presume that your knowledge of directing films, lighting techniques and of performances balances your tender spirit so that you do not succumb to it perilously. Well done. Dimash's vocal and musical talents appear once in a generation. I have watched many reaction clips to Dimash. A great many of them are just silly self promotions rather than appreciators of his talent and art, but I find you a sensitive appreciator of art and technique. Bravo. I hope your health is progressing towards the better. Stay safe.

The pianist here is another student of Keynes who wanted to pay tribute. There are no extreme notes or complicated runs here, but it is so heartfelt and emotional that it is one of my favourites. It breaks my heart for Dimash. (Christine)

I'm so excited that you are doing this song and this particular performance. This is what it looks and sounds like when a soul bleeds. This is one of my MOST favorite Dimash performances and songs - hard to choose, but if I had to, this is my favorite song. There are no vocal gymnastics here. And yet, I am moved deeply to tears. The poignancy, the gut wrenching pain of deep heart connection loss, grief and resolve as surrender to what can not be undone is delivered as if Dimash were singing this privately to release his sorrow - no performance here - simply a soul expressing the depth of his pain at the loss of a mentor, friend, soul who once touched his life so profoundly. Can't wait till tomorrow :).

How can something so beautiful be so devastanting at the same time?Pure beauty and grief in the same instance of time!Love and loss,as Cedric says!It is impossible not to be touched by this song, even not knowing the history of it,just listening without understanding a note!

Dear Cedric, thanks for the reaction. /// The story of the song "Karagym-ay" / "My dear". Lyrics written by Sariev Shomishbay. Music written by Duysekeev Kenes. Poet Sariev dedicates these poems to his daughter, who is getting married. In the poems, the poet conveys his feelings about how the life of his daughter will turn out with her chosen one. Father shares thoughts on the meaning of life with his daughter. In his opinion, the main meaning of life is Love. Without love, life is empty. The poet asked a friend, composer Duisekeev, to write music for his poems. The composer remembered his only sister who died when she was 19 years old. She didn't get married. That's why the song also feels the pinching sadness of the failed love. /// Dimash performed the song "Karagym-ay" on April 9, 2016 at a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the composer Kenes Duisekeev. The composer was surprised by how Dimash was able to understand and convey the deep meaning of the song, despite his young age (Dimasha was 21 at the time.). After the performance of the song, the composer applauded Dimash with the words BRAVO!!!". /// Composer Kenes Duysekeev was Dimasha's teacher at the university. He died on July 9, 2020 from Covid-19. Dimash sang this song in memory of the composer. On the stage behind Dimash you see a portrait of Kenes Duisekeev. // Look, please, this beautiful video - KARAGYM-AY / MY DEAR (Clip, 14.09.2016) kzread.info/dash/bejne/gqlmyZOYgJmWctY.html

Yup, sitting here wiping away tears again, darn you! This past year or so has been like an alchemist's crucible for Dimash, and I've watched the sweet, sometimes slightly awkward young boy from "I Am Singer" go through the flames of pain and loss and emerge, phoenix-like, into full manhood, and this tribute performance (as well as the tragic events in his life that led up to it) marked the turning point where I first noticed the loss of that more carefree boy and the birth of the tempered-by-life-experience man. This song brings out so many emotions in me. I grieve for his grief. As a mother of a son his age, I long to comfort and make things better, but obviously I can't, any more than I can singlehandedly fix this broken world for my own children. My son is an ICU nurse, so Covid has also been his transforming crucible, I think, though in different ways since he hasn't suffered the degree of personal loss that Dimash has suffered. Thank you for this reaction! (And the best pronunciation guide for the song title that I can give you without resorting to IPA alphabet is something like "kara-gim eye" or "kara-gum eye," though the y in "gym" isn't really a sound in American English. If you pronounce the semivowel towards the back of your mouth like you're trying to swallow it, that will sound closer to correct.)

This was so good to watch again through your eyes Cedric! This is such a heart-breaking tribute to his beloved mentor & it grips me every time. Like many Dears this is my favourite song of all from Dimash ... no high notes... no complicated runs ... no swinging through all the octaves ... just raw, beautiful, heart-felt emotion that reaches into my core every time! He is so masterful he makes it look easy but that was a masterclass in control and commitment to every single note. Thankyou so much for reacting to this one Cedric! ♥️

Hi Cedric - a lament - you named it perfectly, sad and beautiful all at once. Here at least he had time to cope with the loss. I saw Dimash nearly loosing control over his voice just once and it was heartbreaking - it was another tribute when he sang SOS during his London concert for his friend Denis Ten a figure skating Olympic medailist who was stabbed to death in a senseless robbery. It was a surprise to hear his voice so stained and unsecure until the camera showed Denis skating on the big screen behind him. The two of them planned to perform together at London and it was only a short time after his death - seeing him on the screen obviously was too much and too early. He was struggling to finish the song and literally fled from the stage, but still he did it, he wanted to honor his friend and he did it.

QARAGIM AY / MY DEAR More than 25 years ago, the poet Shomishpay Sariev wrote the lyrics of the song “Karagym Ay”. He wanted to dedicate a song to his daughter, who was getting married. The father puts his feelings and thoughts into the lyrics: how will the life of his daughter and her chosen one turn out, what awaits her? Talks with his daughter about the meaning of life. The poet points out, that the most important meaning of life is love. Life without love is empty. All the wealth accumulated over a lifetime is not worth even one day spent in love. The poet askes his friend, the famous composer Kenes Duisekeev, to write the music for the lyrics. The composer writes the music for the song, recalls his only sister, who did not have time to get married, because she died at the age of 19. Imagines what kind of feelings the father would have experienced if he married her to a man. Therefore, the song turned out not only about the poet’s daughter, who is getting married, but also about the composer's sister, who did not live up to her wedding. The song conveys sadness, the sadness of love which never had a chance to live. (Credits to Dimash Multicultural Club on Facebook) The composer is shown in the background and he died due to the virus in July 2020. He wasn’t only the composer of this song, he also was Dimash‘s teacher/mentor at university and his grandfatherly friend for him. Dimash sings this song so beautifully... in part like a grieving human, and in part like an angel giving someone a sendoff to heaven.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela🇻🇪, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Dimash is extraordinary. So much more for you to see and hear - you definitely haven’t heard everything. This song is in honour of one of his teachers and mentors who passed away last year from Covid. This teacher, Kenes Duisekeev, is also the composer of the music for the song. The words are in Kazakh and the song is about a letter from a father to a daughter on the occasion of her marriage - it was written about 25 years ago. The pianist, Adilzhan Tolykpayev, is another student of Kenes Duisekeev.

I'm always struck here by his sobbing breath between phrases, and I wonder--do you think that was done rather "purposely" to help him display the emotion of the song, or was it involuntary? Or both--the vulnerability he expresses here when he allows people to see his grief is amazing to me (probably because I am so extremely introverted myself.)

One of the reasons I love Dimash so much is that he stated "Kazakh Men don't cry." Yet there are songs in concert where his emotions overtake him. When he did the SOS tribute to his lost young Ice Skater friend; he even had to leave the stage for a short moment. He gained his composure quickly. That is what I admire about Dimash. A good performance for his audience is always foremost on his mind. He once said that we do not have to worry about how hard he works for a concert, all we have to do is enjoy it.

THX’s & excellent analysis Cedric! Btw pianist was also a student of Kenes. Perhaps the most emotional I’ve seen ♥️ Dimash during a perf. He exposes himself … he’s such a rarity today!

The composer wrote this song on giving away his daughter in marriage. The lyricist thought of his sister who died at 19 before she got married. The composer doubted a young man (Dimash was then 20) would be able to convey the deep emotions of a father when Dimash begged him to allow him to perform it. Yet, after hearing Dimash’s rendition, he congratulated him. In this more recent performance, as you mentioned, the composer- who was also his teacher and mentor- had recently died of Covid. So Dimash was lamenting his loss too. Beautiful. Can’t help the tears.

Hi Cedric, oh I'm always so excited to find you have made a new Dimash reaction :D You're the only reactor I watch. It's always interesting to listen to your analysis and hear you point out things I haven't realised or thought of. Qaragym-ai might be my favourite song, I did not expect that at all, but it just crept in. It's made me cry so many times, and process griefs from decades ago. It's very purging. Now, you might have heard there is a new song out by Dimash, called Stranger. (And there will be yet another new song, of his own composition, tomorrow! And then in a few days, yet another new song by Igor Krutoy. It's treat season!) So anyway, you will probably get a lot of recommendations to react to Stranger, and I would love to see that, too, for sure! I would just like to ask that if you do react to it, if you could just concentrate on the song. The staging is..... in my honest opinion, rather cringe-worthy. Please do not pay much attention to it 😬 There's a LOT to the song, so, please just listen to and anylyse that. It's so rare, but i also find Dimash over-acting quite a bit in the beginning, oh well, it can happen :D I love him to bits though (that is actually an understatement), and this song is mind-blowing. You do need to hear it. The staging is a distraction more than anything. Perhaps it worked in the live environment. (Although MAYBE you would be able to point out some cool stuff i had not seen, you do have that skill. But really, there's so much to the song, that I'd rather just have your analysis on that.) Thanks again for your reactions! 🙏 I thoroughly enjoy them.

The pianist is Adylzhan Tolykbayev,. he is a composer, violinist, mulyinstrumentalist ( all stringed instruments including cello, double bass, dombra, guitar and button accordion, accordion, trombone, even drums- I remember he plays about 1at least 12 instruments!) Dimash says about himЖЭ Adylzhan is a Cenius". Adylzhan is also a great arranger and interpreter! Adilzhan was a student by great composer Kuat Shildebayev ( the author of " Amanat") and later studied by Kenes Duisekeyev.( the author of this song)

You’re right. What more can you say about Dimash. I enjoy listening to your explanation of the colors used and the other symbols used to produce the video. Dimash is the best singer I’ve ever heard. I’m 76 and have seen many performers come and go. I have never been so taken with anyone like I am with Dimash. I don’t even understand it. I haven’t followed any other singer…ever. It’s the whole package, I think. Talent, so many colors to his voice, ability to use so many styles in one song, his personality, humbleness, respect for his elders and family and he is just a good guy. As I suspect you are. Thanks for your input and I hope you keep going. Bev

Hi Cedric, this is the 2nd reaction you will be making on this sad song, is this because we had no sound coming from Dimash? It didn’t make your reaction less of a reaction because of that, but I know you being a perfectionist that you would want to give us Dears the full reaction behind the song….will still watch the 2nd reaction.

I know you have a lot of Dimash recommendations but a couple to add to your list if they aren't already there are his mv "Screaming" and "Samaltau" the Tokyo Jazz Festival video. Two VERY different songs but both are incredible. Dimash JUST released a new performance (Aug 20th) and I am SUFFERING!!!! THE SONG AND PERFORMANCE ARE SO AMAZING!!!! My jaw dropped so many times that my TMJ is back. It's called "Stranger" kzread.info/dash/bejne/nnqnpJeBhtHTg6Q.html and you NEED to react to this. No discussion. ASAP. I will use the Force to mind control you if that's what it takes. 😂
