There are 2 performances from 2017 that are beyond stunning - I AM SINGER /CHINA and later in concert at Bastau - the song DAYBREAK' is written by Han Hong - a true story of a cable car disaster in China that took the lives of 14 visitors - a young couple were able to lift their 2 1/2 year old son to safety but ultimately plunged to their deaths - Han Hong wrote the song as a tribute to those parents for their sacrifice - she later adopted that young boy- Dimash had lost his voice at the competition and was treated with 5 injections in his throat that weren't working but gave a stunning performance - he later performs it with the waterfall backdrop in Bastau 2017 and it's even more powerful - but do get the backstory to it before you watch - it was the first song that he learned in Chinese - the runs that you heard were from Fifth Element called Diva Dance - his first solo concert: DAIDIDAU is stunning he is in traditional Kazak dress, he ear pieces failed but he completes the performance on his knees, exhausted - his father is backstage literally sobbing - Do watch. Dimash had been in competition at WORLD'S BEST in Hollywood several years ago but he left the program because he was left competing against 2 children - he was vilified by Ru Paul and Faith Hill but quietly stated: " With respect, my precondition to competing here was that I would not be competing against children' - he walked away from a million dollars because he has ethics, standards and class - he has not performed in the US since -

If you wanna hear something completley different and if you think of Dimash highes and take it on the other side...bass as low as Dimash can go high!!! Well there is a group from USA that doing there own thing and doing covers there own way and when you here the original artist you feel its the wrong artist! Also there own songs are awsome. They can make you cry or laugh youre ass off the chair and everything inbetween. They are belonging to 2 categoryes a but are the onley artist in the world doing this! Also everyone that hate both categorys LOVES this band. They really have to be EXPERIENSED live to undersstand everything. They also love there fans just as mutch as Dimash love his and they have them al over the world. Laura, I do have a question, because I'm still learning about Dimash and I don't think there's a wiki page??? I'm looking at Daybreak, Bastau 2017. What language is he singing? (Original was Chinese?) And Was the Bastau 2017 a big concert with only him or others? What was the event? And then, 'Passione' New Wave 2021, with Igor Krutoy. What was that event? Celebrating Igor or a concert of Dimash. (And why does the little girl walk out in the middle of it!!!?)

@@BangkokVoiceCoach Hope I can help with a few answers: As far as I know Dimash always sang "Daybreak" in Chinese (Mandarin). His very first big solo concert was named 'Bastau' ('Beginnings') and came in the wake of the "Singer" competition in China, 2017. It was held in a big stadium at the capital Nur-Sultan/Astana in his homeland Kazakhstan. He also had invited several friends and guests to sing there, too. "New Wave" is an annual music festival held in Sochi/Russia, and Igor Krutoy is one of it's founders, musical directors and producers. It's where Dimash and Igor Krutoy met in 2018 and decided on their wonderful musical collaberation. As for the Little Girl (and the frightful female voice part) in the staging of the otherwise brilliant "Passione"... no idea who came up with that. But if you want to listen only to his voice in this song I strongly recommend the youtube channel of the musician and sound technician "FYT" (formerly "Creactiva Mente"). He makes the enormous effort of digitally filtering and separating Dimashs voice out from all the music and staging around it, and the effect is breathtaking, especially with "Passione" (and many others, too). Thanks for you wonderfully informed reaction videos, please keep it up!

@@BangkokVoiceCoach I see no contradiction. All his singing (apart from a very tiny minority of songs, like the Diva Dance, that is intended for pure entertainment) is very emotional. In several songs, like Olimpico. the emotion is intended to transmit intensity, energy and inspire (it was intended for Olympic athletes) , but in most songs they are full of sadness or pain or longing or gentleness or all of them together. It doesn't matter if the song is wide range or not, with or without high notes - there is always storytelling and emotion. SOS is a true emotional rollercoaster, I have been listening to it for 3.5 years multiple times daily and it still makes me cry. But many of his Kazakh songs are just as beautiful and moving although there is no wide range in them at all. If you want to truly know Dimash's soul, you have to listen to his Kazakh masterpieces like Daididau, Samaltau, Qaran Elim, Qaragym Ai, Amanat and others.

Sure the backstory is importand. But its always painful to me to hear him sing when he is sick especialy when he sings Daybreak at I M SINGER. You can almost hear the pain and its vexing. I dont want him to be in pain. If an other version should be heart apart from the Bastau Daybreak then why not Han Hongs original version. When comparing it to Dimashs version I first thought she had misunderstood her own song. But now i feel like she sings it like a mother consoling her adopted child, while he is singing like the child struck with the horror of seeing his parends die. He and maybe also his arranger Erlan Bekchurin so much felt that song.

Dimash went up high several times and made it look so easy.. During the "I Am Singer" contest Dimash had the courage and confidence 5 years ago to also sing covers of Celine Dion's "All By Myself", Freddie Mercury's "The Show Must Go On" and Lionel Ritchie's "Hello" and made them his own with his unique abilities and artistry. Dimash is only 28 years old now but has had over 20 years of training, practice and performing. He's continuing to work on a PhD in Classical and Pop music. Word has it the performance you wondered about the audience knowing is said to be lipsynced. Personally I don't think so....his body language is too on point for what notes he is singing. Really am enjoying your reactions! 💞 Please, where might I go to learn more about your musical background and accomplishments? Thanks! 💞

Hi William as others have suggested go to his concerts. Or look for the Bastau concert he did, still very young, but he s happy and very energetic. Look for the backstory on Daybreak, on Gloria Wu's channel, which is not happy, he does not sing it anymore, but the concert is great. Hope u get to a concert soon. Cheers

William darling it’s been a while since you have reacted to our dear Dimash! And you really need to watch samaltau and also the very popular love of tired swans❤️ also I know you already reacted to “ know” performed at Igor’s birthday, but you seriously need to watch the official mv . You will absolutely enjoy it, it’s a marvelous production and the dancers with the unbelievably gorgeous, artistic, sensual and almost primal choreography, take this masterpiece to an even higher level!❤️

William, this is a wonderful reaction, but to be honest, I'm a little disappointed. Feel free to delete this comment - I don't mean to upset anyone, but I've been enjoying the beginning of your Dimash journey, and I feel like you just cheated yourself (and us) by skipping the beauty of hearing all of these amazing notes as part of the entire experience in each song. Basically, like peeking at all of your Christmas presents under the tree the week before. 😔 I know that I was really looking forward to watching you experience that D8 as it happened in the song, for example. Thank you, though, for the time, and effort you put into this video. Have an amazing weekend!! Sending love from Baton Rouge, Louisiana!! 💙💙

I confess I’m a shameless lover of highlights! I built two very successful stage shows by using highlights from Puccini & Verdi operas. (One about Callas, in the other I played Puccini.) If highlights can bring more people to opera, and to Dimash, I don’t see it as a bad thing. I’m not such a purist. I used to be when I was very young, studying Early Music with Dame Emma Kirkby, but now I believe in the broadest possible appeal in a world saturated with content and with choice.
