👉 In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. "Adagio" was the 6. song in the competition. Participants have one week to learn the lyrics and arrange the song they have been assigned. Dimash did not speak English at this point. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZread ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

The people that are most amazed in video are all professional singers, and DIMASH was not famous yet. I love Lara but I don't get so emotional listening to her do this same song, like I do hearing DIMASH sing this song, when DIMASH sings it I can't stop the tears down my cheeks every time I hear this song by him, I don't get that with Lara; sorry those who think she is better, I judge by my emotions on songs. What amazes me is that almost no American singers/musicians/singing teachers know how to pronounce Adagio. Does that mean they don't use the Italian musical language in the US? I'm not a musician, but I still know the language of music more or less.

@@kriknut1 I still remember a little: In classical music, Italian is the language of music all over the world. American pop music (pop, rock, rap, techno, incl. blues and jazz, etc.) actually has its own technical language, which in Germany is often adopted as Anglicisms and mostly not translated at all. The Americans also have a scale whose note designation differs from our European one (b instead of h). This starts with the names of the styles or genres (rock, pop, soul, blues etc... and continues to the names of singing techniques (belting, riffs, runs). Since most singing teachers in the USA apparently only have a one-sided 'pop' education, they naturally don't understand the classic designations.

I didn’t know Lara Fabian before I found Dimash. She has written music for Dimash. I personally like Dimash’s version the best but Lara has a beautiful voice. Dimash won this round of the competition. Overall, he came in second. The other singers were professional singers from China. They were well known. Dimash was neither. Their ages ranged from 30-60. Dimash was 22. The youngest to be included on this program. He shocked the other contestants. They had no idea who he was or what he could do. You forgot the human need of CONFIRMATION because we all know Dimash is the king of emotion, storytelling, and technical skills. He is on another level when compared to other singers. 😃

Lots of very impressive songs are to find sung by dimash. This one is my all-time REFERENCE in what he's able to do if he gets himself into deepest emotions. It's no more about notes and tones. It's about pure energy he collects from some higher instances to shoot it into the audience. I still don't get my mouth closed, even after about 100 times i was listening to this song.

This is indeed a competition and the people in the back is contestants that is already professional singers competing for their place in China. Dimash was a wild card that was brought in to sing only one song. That was SOS, but they liked him so much that he was asked to continue although he was not Chinese. He was also the youngest singer to ever participate in that competition. He only came second because he was not Chinese. There is a lot of songs to react to by Dimash in that competition that is covers of other artist like Opera 2 etc. After his first performance of SOS he immediatly became a celebrity and he needed security guards to protect him. The other participants became close friend of Dimash because of his super sweet personality. Keep up your reactions. We love it. It is because of Dimash that I started watching reaction videos because I remember my first song of Opera 2 that I listened to. I was overwhelmed by his awesome voice and never missed a day where I do not listen to his memorizing and addictive voice. I'm still new to you, but I agree 100% with your analysis, and I love hearing your take on all points of view. Although I love every song Dimash sings, this is one of the first I had heard and is in my top 3. The part that truly hits my soul is when he hits the notes at "forever you'll stay"...and afterward. I don't know why that part goes to my core, it sounds strange when I try to verbalize it, I must have a "switch" inside me that gets flipped when he hits those notes! I'm not sure if it's psychological or emotional, or maybe both! May I also mention the background singers and the orchestra this show provided are absolutely the best! They provided every star with absolute quality and perfection! I would like to mention the band that was in competition with Dimash is a group of Chinese members who are wonderful as well. Debemos estar felices que pertenecemos a un grupo muy selecto de personas que esta en la misma sintonía . Porque me he dado cuenta que no va en gustos musicales, en conocimiento ni en edades ni culturas ni nada de eso, va en algo más allá .Dimash nos eligió, nos dio una parte de su alma y su corazón a cada uno , pero para recibir ese regalo tenemos una condición y esa condición es dejarlo conectarse con nuestro ser a través de su música y como hay tantas personas en el mundo y su alma y corazón no podían ser para todos, eligió solo a algunos ,los más dispuestos a dejarse emocionar y atrapar por su voz. Por eso no debemos prestar atención a los que lo critican o no lo saben entender porque ellos no fueron elegidos, no les tocó su trozo de alma y corazón , se quedaron afuera , no dejaron que su luz los tocara , se quedaron en la oscuridad, una pena por ellos porque nunca sabrán el disfrute y el placer que su arte nos proporciona.

Rosalie I would be surprised if you never watched this video again. I have watched it probably a hundred times. It moves me. I think what I appreciate the most about Dimash is his urgency to know what emotions the original lyrics are meant to portray and then emote those emotions on the stage while blowing my mind with his outstanding vocals. Let’s not forget, he learned most of the songs phonetically because he didn’t speak nor understand the language he was singing in. Amazing.

Dimash es único, el mejor cantante del mundo. Lo queremos. Saludos desde Perú.

Dimash idolised Lara as he was growing up and has sung with her once now, Ti Amo Cosi also with Aida Garifullina, and he sings to glorify the song and present it as real as possible. He aims to please his audience to the max with the sense of the song. It is not a competition for him…. It is his best performance for that day, using his instrument as well as he can even if he is not well. His concerts last mostly for about 3 hours, and he is as good at the end as he is at the beginning. His focus and drive are unsurpassed.

A heads up to the other contestants in the Singer 2017. They were all top notch and there was a great camaraderie between them. It is well worth checking the winner Sandy Lam and the 3rd place Lion Band. Dimash also became very good friends with Terry Lin.

Dimash version of Adagio is overwhelming. I love that high and long note of “stay” denoting it will be forever…… beautiful! 🎤💙💛🔝🔝👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

My opinion about reactions is like yours, in 2020 when so many people were in lockdown, I binged reactions and I continue to do that today. Each genuine reactors opinion is interesting, I sometimes enjoy the truly technical breakdown of Dimash’s performance because, while he makes this look effortless, technically it’s not. I love the community aspect, especially with the Dears who I see on each reactor’s channel because even though we don’t know one another, I do feel like we are a community with a strong common bond, of course, being Dimash. I am really enjoying your journey and reactions, I watched your Home Free reaction yesterday and then realized that you already know Pentatonix, I also love the purity and talent of a cappella.

Adagio в исполнении Лары Фабиан - это женское понимание и эмоции женские, то есть искренние, но немного сдержанные. Поэтому её видение как художника и вокалиста просто замечательное. Димаш выплеснул мужские, вернее юношеские эмоции, обладая невероятным вокальным диапазоном, владеет которым виртуозно. Естественно, исполнение этой песни пробивает всё тело как удар молнии. Поэтому, на мой взгляд, сравнивать Лару и Димаша не нужно, ведь не сравнивают же в тяжёлой атлетике легковеса с тяжеловесом, стайера с марафонцем. Их объединяет талант вокалиста в сочетании с тем, что они творцы-художники. И что особенно приятно - они с трепетом относятся к таланту друг друга. Достаточно было увидеть взгляд и движения Лары при их совместном с Аидой Гарифуллиной Ti amo cosi. Реакция как и предыдущие превосходная. Несмотря на то, что слышал эту песню сотни и сотни раз, от мимика и экспрессии Эмилии мурашки были такими же, как будто слушаю впервые. Полная гармония между исполнителем и реакционером.

Very nice reaction! I enjoy reaction videos because I get to watch someone enjoying something that I enjoy. With Dimash I have learned so much about music and singing from watching vocal coaches and singers react to his songs. Also, none of my friends are crazy about Dimash so it's nice to be able to "share" his songs with online people (reactors) who do go crazy about them!

Dimas is in a league of his own, is not fair for other singers to compare them with him, and so it is fair to compare Dimash 2017 with Dimash in 2021 from now and on he competes with himself which by the way he is doing a great job if you hear his English now in Stranger, for example, you will see his improvements in the language and his stage presence t he doe not stop improving and going taking his craft to a whole another level.

I don’t listen to this kind of music but dame I’ll go to his show if he’s around my country New Zealand.
