Dimash: 25 Years After the Tragedy (Daybreak)

Музыка

While I will showcase Dimash Qudaibergen's Daybreak from the 2017 "I am a Singer" performance, this video is more about the backstory of the song itself.
Many may know the brief history of the song, but I have researched the background and found many more details that you may be unaware of. With this being the 25th anniversary of the cable car accident, perhaps it is fitting to do this video this way.
The other backstory of this song is that Dimash was facing the loss of his singing and speaking abilities the night before the show. There is a pre-show interview about this, but I could not get the subtitles to work on my primitive editing program, so I did not add it in this video. If you are interested in watching the pre-show interview, you can use this link and turn on the subtitles. • Singer 2017 E08 - Dayb...
If you want to see the original version of the song by Han Hong, use this link.

And, to read the research website I used for much of the backstory, you can see it at www.163.com/dy/article/HO0HNP...

Thank you so much for explaining the story of this very sad moment. As I'm sure you are aware, your comments vary slightly from the comments on the you tube video which explains the story. I credit the differences to the language interpretation of each version of the story and also to keep the presentation of the song free of comments which would interfere with the music and the emotion attached to it but, there is no doubt, you story brought up many more interesting points to think about. Another point which deserves mention is Dimash sang this song in Chinese, the first time he had ever sang in Chinese and that's why the Chinese audience were all in tears. In the USA there is a Mount Rushmore which honors 4 previous Presidents of the USA. I have my personal Mount Rushmore and it honors singers who have touched my heart when I listen to them sing. Dimash is one of them. Besides being a fantastic vocalist he is a humble, kind, caring and loving human being and absolutely adores children. The other 3 singers are all originally European, Angelina Jordan, Lara Fabian and Emma Kok. Thank you, again. Did I cry through the whole song? From the beginning to the end. Everything he sang on The Singer Show was wonderful and another song which was very emotional was 'Autumn Strong'. Perhaps you can do a video of that touching story.

Thank you for your comments. I did forget to mention that this was his first attempt at singing a Chinese song. So much was happening during that episode of "I am a Singer". I wonder what caused him to lose that round in the competition. It was either that his voice was not perfect due to the vocal illness, or that his Chinese was not as good as people thought. Chinese are very critical of any foreigner trying to speak their language. You could be born in China and spoke Chinese your entire life, but because you are not Hans Chinese, they will mock your abilities. They feel that unless you are Hans in ethnicity, you can never be fully Chinese. Their own version of racism and prejudice. Of course, they would never admit to that. Having lived there for eight years, I have seen that prejudice at play.

Thank you for explaining more about the accident. I didn't know all the facts and now the song means so much more. I am a fan of Dimash, so now hearing the song from The Singer in 2017, it makes me cry to know the child was saved from his parents protecting him. I am happy for the sweet lady who raised him. She is truly special and I enjoyed the song so much. Thank you again for sharing.

I am really proud of this video. It is exactly what I want to do with songs and artists. It is quite remarkable that in that brief moment, the parents had the thought of lifting their child into the air to try to save him. All those involved in causing the accident got off way too easily in my book. Sheer greed and ego destroyed many lives that day. I did not go into very much detail as to the evilness that the cable car owners did leading up to that day. They blatantly ignored the government and pushed forward without so many approvals. They cut corners. The only cared for themselves and their profits.

Even being ill, Dimash gave an outstanding performance. Before performing, you could see he was in pain by his facial expression. However, it's hard to be sure because he prepares himself emotionally for each song. I think the other singers were astonished by his delivery of the song since he was very ill at that time. I do love how they took Dimash under their wings and showed love and concern for him knowing he was so young and in a foreign country away from family and friends.

Since the show is intended for established performers, there is not a cut-throat attitude, but one of respect and admiration.

It was my pleasure. I learned much from the research as well. All very fascinating, and troubling at the same time.
