I'm confused about why he's angry about being sampled, when all he does is sample.
@rebadfaye5007
6 жыл бұрын
mr matic he doesn't simply sample, he utilizes bits and parts of a song like individual instruments and makes something really new with them. Sometimes it's unrecognizable but still beautiful. They just straight up chopped up his creation and passed it on like it was their beat. They vibed with his creation but did not reinvent it in an unique way. If you couldn't recognize that, it's okay, I think it's just a matter of seeing what was product of jay dees vision in a song (in terms of finding the baseline, snares, low beats etc) that he listens to, and how people who sampled him used that vision but did not make anything new out of it in particular.
@rebadfaye5007
6 жыл бұрын
I would also say compare the songs that he samples to the original, to the jay dee songs that people sample, to the jay dee version. 8/10, nothing new. Just cherry picking and then putting it into a loop. I don't think he was angry about being sampled but the fact that they cherry picked a part of his vision, barely made anything new from it, and then built some type a success out of it
@omegawolf9537

Doesn't make any sense. That's what hip hop has always been. Chopping samples and rearranging them is a fairly new phenomenon. And he's looped samples and added drums himself without doing anything else. One of my favorite beats from him is "Wordplay" off of ATCQ's album Beats, Rhymes, Life and its nothing but a loop.
@rebadfaye5007
6 жыл бұрын
mr matic yes. The point is that they sampled him. They didn't sample the original song like jay did, and made the simplest loop out of it, then played it off as their creation (which it is to some extent. But where's his credit?)
@viktorvondoom9119

Dilla did the exact same thing to others. He was a great producer, but he did use straight samples sometimes. He can't get mad on them for sampling his song. It's not even a straight sample loop. Its chopped up and all.
