When Dilla says its more love over in Europe, he is telling ya'll something about music. And honestly it's always been like that since the early 40's... Black music (Jazz, Blues, RnB, Hip Hop) for some reason is more accepted overseas. What does that tell us about America and the support of Black artists?

The interviewer describing Dilla's own sound as "putting the soul clap a little early" is too sick! That special technique went on to influence everyone including madlib, flylo, the whole low end theory beat scene

Gotta love the contrast and heavy variety between J Dilla And Madlib Far as style and contrast. Whether u wanna practice your beats or listen to something that seems night and day . It's like Dilla can give you cold , electronic, pimp, soul, drum major through his stuff, then Madlib u get stoner, raw ,crusty record curator , ect . And both service your ear well

Looks like he has band-aids on his fingers. I heard he used to get blisters and shit from using his MPC so much. The dude's ear for sampling was incredible, it'd be crazy to look through his vinyl collection.

RIP DILLA DAWG. QUESTION: Why does he say (in the beginning of the the interview) that Bilal laid som vocals on African Rhythms? Is Bilal on some other track on that record and he just remembered wrong? Can't make sense of this...

Some people in the common section just don’t get it. Of course J Dilla samples but he’s mad at those who literally copy and paste his shit and claim it as their own. That’s not what a real producer does.

Do you by chance have the full interview with the video? Full interview is (48:35) I have the MP3 but I would love to see a video with the full (48:35) interview. Beginning in the interview at (3:40) he talks about how his production crew (The Ummah) with Q-Tip & Ali Shaheed Muhammad got jacked & denied production credit for Janet Jackson’s song: Got TIl It’s Gone

The sound of hip hop changed when he passed. His sound generated so much life, rather it was the samples, or beats from scratch, he had his own distinctive sound.. He didn't care for the attention or the spot light. Very humble dude. That dude was always different from every other producer out there. One of a one. JAY DEE
