@@dangerousbeats8332 Hmm. As much as I love the classic Dre and Timbaland beats (props for Timbo for being as equally versatile making a r&b beat as he is making a hip hop beat) but in time, my taste has switched more towards Madlib, Dilla, Pete Rock etc. And of course, to keep it current, MF DOOM was a one of a kind producer too..

he sounds ridiculously excited just about music. the hip hop/rap game has no idea what it's missing out on.
hes 's so humble.RIP one of the greatest of all time
so much energy just watching him talk, there's more than just knowing your craft, this is the proof!

TELL YOUR KIDS ABOUT DILLA
This has got to be one of if not the best interviews I've ever heard, music or any topic.
Truly one of the greatest musicians/musical producers of his time. R.I.P. Dilla
Ive been a fan this long and never once saw a video with Dilla, where he spoke. Wow. Thank you for sharing.
band-aid on his fingers from making beats... now thats love for hip hop
It frustrates me that someone this innovative and brilliant and hardworking is still underrated.

Gives me chills when he talks about Madlib. Two geniuses
It's amazing that he didn't act like Kanye and was just an asshole to people because he knows he's a musical genius. J dilla it sucks you couldn't have been here for longer.

+Jack Thornton Agreed but Kanye is far from a musical genius. Nowadays he has teams of people working on everything he makes. Dilla was, and always will be, miles ahead.

Nat Moody thats because he's not just producing he's arranging. George Clinton didnt play every instrument but he was still considered the mastermind producer/ arranger of P-Funk.

You understand that Kanye was one of Dilla's favorite producers... They even worked together and the original 'Takeover' beat was made for J Dilla's solo album

I can maybe understand your sentiment, but you don't need to use a rare video of a legend to express a negative message about another legendary artist
I wish I could of met him but I learning that I am through his music ppl stealing his beats n trying to hide it god blessed him god knew this world effect the world he one of the best n would be the most success today as producer mc dj n musician like yooo this is the god father of todays music hiphop periodt humbled n let his music speak for it self
The interviewer describing Dilla's own sound as "putting the soul clap a little early" is too sick! That special technique went on to influence everyone including madlib, flylo, the whole low end theory beat scene
My favorite producer...truly miss his music!! Rest on JD!!!
Dilla was so ahead of his...you can listen to a Dilla beat from '95 & it sounds new. people slept on J when he was alive, but now you got a lot of aspiring producers & even legendary producers looking at his music for inspiration. R.I.P. James Yancey
I miss you J. Never forget that call man. RIP.

Rest in peace James I still can't believe you're gone man. DILLA DILLA MIX MIX MIX
I just started REALLY digging into dilla’s catalogue a few days ago, and I’ve gotta say, he. ALREADY has a shit ton of influence on my own beats... even more than Madlib, Tyler, DOOM, and Kanye who I’ve listened to for quite awhile now, and it’s only been a few weeks of studying this king of beats!
This makes me feel good. Thank you.
I come back to this interview from time to time to deal with these wack cats who think they so unstoppable. This dude loved his craft and respected originality and work ethic. RIP. THANK YOU JAY DEE

One of my influence ... Respect
A certain type of hip hop died when Dilla Passed man .. that soulful, smooth jazzy slum village type of hip hop that I loved .. R.I.P.. J Dilla man.. we need somebody like dilla man .. this new age hip hop is gay as fuck ...
Dope Dilla face sticker on my back windshield rollin' around Detroit showing respect like I'm spose to. Dilla will always be Motown's finest! Rest In Beats
Dilla took a page out Eric Sermons book (mid 90s sound) real listeners know. Bass lines & claps, Eric Sermon did it first but JD took it somewhere else.
@Deyriv i did some research and found out. he was talking about the song called "Shoomp" feat Shaggy. It was released on a '12 as a single. The sample is "Genius of Love" by Tom Tom Club, from 1981
Love J dilla.
We need a J Dilla movie starring Wood Harris 💯
I'm so bummed I was never able to meet him. Dilla is honestly my biggest inspiration and is like my idol in terms of music. R.I.P. Jay Dee.
