    Good stuff man...I literally can't review any Elekton synths because they're so ridiculously feature rich that I'd get so many questions about why I forgot to cover a certain aspect that I'd go insane. Save up for it!! Of course €750 at the end of the day is still alot of money, but you get alot of bang for your buck. Sample stuff, make a track, sample the track (as he showed) into just one pattern part, and still a lot of room left for other stuff. You could make entire tracks on this thing alone. I believe the price is VERY reasonable for this little box :)

    powernoid that's no excuse if you really want it enough. I've recently acquired a few expensive gadgets in just this year alone that I could never ever afford up front through one of those play as pay sites. there's a few good ones out there that are reasonable and don't charge any interest fees at all. just search for them or message me if you want the one that I use. they even do pre-orders. I'm getting the Digitakt the same way.

    Would like to see someone use an Elektron Digitakt or Akai MPC Live or Pioneer DJS1000 or Toraiz SP16 to sample from live instruments directly using a di box, miked cab or guitar amp modeller or pedalboard or via a mixer like the QSC Touchmix 16 e.g. guitar, bass, acoustic drums, synths, dj setup - cdjs and turntables, electronic drums and use those short sampled clips as stems. Basically a hardware solution to play and perform live vs using an audio interface and daw for recording in a home studio. Sophisticated live looping setup for a one man band, lol.

    I've been using a Ronald SP-404-SX for my sampling and I love it, but the one thing it's missing is midi sync out. I've been using an Arturia Drumbrute to sync my loop pedal. If the sequencer on this thing sends a reliable midi clock, I could just sample my drum sounds into the Digitakt, sequence them on there, and have a much smaller set up. I'm looking forward to the rest of your videos. This looks like a piece of gear i'll need.

    They are more sensitive, you can do fine adjustments better, but they are also more "flimsy" in the sense that you sometimes have to be super careful not to change from say midi channel 1 to 2, because 1 step is so "delicate" if that makes sense. Other than that not much to say =)

    Hey Bo, thank you for your videos. I know that as a Swedish Viking, you won't say anything derisive about the Octatrack, but would you say that the Digitakt steps on the Octatrack's toes or do they occupy different spaces entirely? This question comes from a guy who still working through the learning curve of an Octatrack--alternating between wondering why I bought it instead of a drum machine and being extremely happy with the crazy sounds it comes up with.

    +Chris Anderson thanks mate! Its a difficult question. Yes they can do similar things. Yet the fader, the scenes, the much deeper sampling simply makes the Octa something very different. If you value a quick workflow and do not need all the depth of the Ocha then maybe the Digi will suffice.

    Can someone tell me how this is better than Logic Pro? I can record, edit, and save samples in Logic faster than you could name a file with this thing... and I'm not limited to 8 tracks, or 64 MB sample storage...

    Is the capacity 33 seconds total for all tracks or 33 seconds/track?

  • @BoBeats

    @BoBeats

    7 жыл бұрын

    daikuone 33 seconds are always available for the sampler. Then you have 64 additional mb of ram for the samples that you load into the digi. So the 33 s is for recording samples and 64 mb is for loading samples that you actually play

    So, to be clear, with trigs, could I switch samples on the fly/ track, and play thru the whole 64mb of memory. Do you know the capacity in minutes of the 64mb? As a guitar player, want to understand my limitations for long samples.

  • @BoBeats

    @BoBeats

    Trigs are programmed per step, so you can change a sound per step basis to another sample. But you can only trigger 8 samples at one time since it only has 8 tracks that you can actually trigger live. But in a pattern you can program changes. I do not have any data on how long samples can be played

    BoBeats so would it be correct to say that each 8 audio tracks can have a 33 second sample on it? Or is it a total of 33 seconds for all 8 audio tracks? Also Bo, can the samples play freely of any type of master loop length? Thanks!

    Hilarious that Elektron can't bring themselves to have a simple "record" button on their sampler like everyone else on Earth. They can't help making the simplest things confusing in their interfaces.

    A simple "record" button would limit how it could be used. Digitakts workflow isn't confusing for the sake of being complicated like you could argue the octatrack is at times, its just the simplest way to get all of the features crammed into a small box with as minimal buttons as possible
