Digitakt... Can It sound like a modular synth? | Tutorial
Музыка
Here's a tutorial using the Digitakt w/ stock sounds to make 2 modular synth-inspired sequences. One of the things I enjoy about the Digitakt is that you have a nice collection of sound design options to assist in pushing the samples into limitless directions. I just used the stock sounds for this tutorial, but you can get even better results when you sample real modular synth one-shots, or any of your soft synths, found sounds also give you more sonic options to throw at the Digitakt sequencer.

Man this is really creative and helpful. As a Digitakt user and modular dude, this is such a great shortcut. Earned a subscribe.

Welcome aboard!
Dope brah! That opening preview song at 0:45 sounds like that Herbie Hancock album Sextant haha
Very inspiring. I love working with the Digitakt.
I love hearing modular performances but never thought the DT could produce something similar. Which is kinda dumb because I know how powerful the elektron sequencers are, even if they don't hold a candle next to Ableton + a midi controller. I guess the real difference lies in what you like performing on, your overall approach + your wallet. Your video is inspiring af 🔥
this is great man, thx for sharing!!
Love this vid! CANT wait to grab a Digi and follow along

Thanks! Well if you do decide to purchase a Digitakt... consider buying it from my affiliate link, the proceeds help my channel. www.perfectcircuit.com/partners/voltagectrlr.html ✌
You just brought out the other side of the Digitakt. What an amazing tutorial 👌👌 Thank you for the inspiration and the sound of the results 🙏🙏
Nice. That second pattern was slick 👏👏👍

Such a great tutorial. And I can see I’ve missed out not having a Digitakt- I greatly underestimated what can be done with it. I love my Digitone. Hopefully I can get enough gigs together to pick one up this year. Those little black boxes are the best!
Thank you so much for doing this! You're awesome

Oh cool! thanks a lot for supporting the album. It's one of my favorites! I didn't see the message, I'll check it out.
I’ve played with the stock samples before, but usually because I needed a certain single cycle sound in a pinch. I need to take an afternoon and just play. You made some dreamy tones while playing.

Cool video. I find your sequencing and composition techniques the most interesting. How you actually build the song once you've selected the samples, done the sound design. Like the p-locks for reverb hits. Those kinds of tips are gold.

I've always said that Elektron boxes can totally do the eurorack west coast vibe, and got crap for it from the eurosnobs. Having owned a large Eurorack system and all of the Elektron boxes I found that for me Eurorack was limiting my ability to just make music, while Elektron boxes got me creating and making the same sounds faster.

Absolutely! I had a really large 24u eurorack system, once I got into Elektron, I sold all of my sequencing modules and downsized my euro system and kept getting more Elektron boxes. The Analog Four and Digitone all very modular in nature, it's all about finding the right instruments that inspire us to create. Thanks for watching.
Great Video and Thumb up for Greenscreen with Green Shirt 👍🏻

Thanks for sharing, I like the end result. What would you say where the advantages of the Digitakt over an AKAI Force or Mpc ... I have trouble doing full tracks on the Digitone and Syntakt, they tend to be sketch pads and they usually end up getting over bridged to make a full track in a DAW.
Low passed gate sounding…sound 😅 ❤

Well one things for sure it's a whole lot cheaper than going modular! ha ha.. Super good stuff.

LOL You got that right! I always suggest VCV Rack for people that want to get into modular without taking that financial plunge.
Love this video and demonstration! Don’t understand something though - At the 17:05 mark, laying down trigs, how are the trig sounds varied right when they are first laid down without any adjustment?

If i remember correctly... that sound has a random lfo on the samples pitch.
yo thanks for the great content U make. this vid made me want to get into elektron gear even more now. One q though, can u parameter lock the tempo at each step?

any synth can sound like a modular synth because a modular synth can sound like anything...

Yes... you are correct. A parrot and a few other birds can also sound like a modular synthesizer.... Were just having fun with our sampler around here. I'm not only speaking about the sound of the synthesizer/sampler, but also the sequencing and randomness. Thank you #wetblanket

you know, that's absolutely true, when I first got into modular synths I used to record bird calls out in nature and make modular synth patches inspired by the bird sounds.
It’s a sampler, so yeah…

Yes of course it's a sampler it can sound like anything... but what I'm focusing on more is the sequencer, and how it can be used to do random / generative sequencing.
