Difficult Gadget Cache - 110 Favs first year

My favorite gadget cache, this is a tough one to solve, but easy to build. First, lets try to figure out how to solve it, then I'll show you exactly how to make it.

    I love this cache! I built my own and put a twist on it. It doesn't get a lot of traffic, but almost everyone gives a fave. Thanks WV Tim!

    This cracks me up. We figured it out by noticing which holes the lights shone all the way through...never even knew about the drawer switch!

    Really, now you know the secret. I've had cachers spend well over and hour in front of this cache trying to figure it out.

    We came across a cache based on this one and it got us sooooo puzzled! Eventually we called the CO, because we just couldn't figure it out. If only we had known it was so easy, haha! Fantastic idea!

    Ørjan Leifseth When I want to make it look aged, I start with a good primer ( normally white) , then paint it with a exterior black paint, then on my final coat I take the black and mix some white in it, but don't mix it well. Then I kind of paint it on giving it the white black aged look. Maybe on my next video, i'll film me doing that.

    He writes those 4 numbers on the birdhouse outside. 2 holes and 2 on one and 2 numbers on other. Cause there are lots of holes you can't tell which one is correct. So when the light makes them visible

    Great work again Tim. Love the difficulty approach. Hard, but oh so simple. I have a question about it: How do you prevent little insects/bugs from getting inside through all the little gaps e.g. around the door? I imagine hiding one like this in the woods, it would soon fill itself as a bug's home.

  • @gadgetcaches

    @gadgetcaches

    9 жыл бұрын

    I do get bug problems from time to time. I "sometimes" spray the inside with a bug killer when I'm building it. If bugs become a problem, where I can.... I caulk, other times where caulk is impossible like this cache drawer, I just spray the inside of the box. I use Ortho Home Defense.

    Becca Delmar in the video at about 5 minutes, are some of my measurements. Slow the video down and you will see I have most of my measurements written on the wood. Hopefully this concept can be used any just about any size cache. Hopefully this will generate some ideas to get you thinking.

  • @gadgetcaches

    No, the back of the drawer is build so its larger and won't come out the hole in the front. As you see in the video, I pull it all the way out and it just hangs there.

    Bill Stearman look around the internet I found several. Here is a pic of one .....shop.miniscience.com/navigation/detail.asp?id=MINIBASEP. When you buy a lamp holder be sure to buy your lamp and a battery that works for the size holder and bulb you have. I found mine at a local electric shop. Most of the time the folks inside will be happy to help you. Might even check to see if you have a Radio shack near you.
