Build this 40 light Gadget cache

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Video gives you instructions on how to build a gadget cache with lights. This Gadget cache has a interesting twist. As in all my videos, first we see how to solve it, then I'll give you all the instructions you will need to build this creative cache. Video was filmed in 2015.
Here is and "example" of the type of lights I purchased........www.amazon.com...

The world needs more of these! Most caches here are just "boring" PET Tubes... most of them very bad maintained 'cause some greenhorn cachers thought "Oh! I'm a geocacher... got to hide something" Yea... and then it is just ... something... Do thank you for sharing your ideas and let's hope, that more cachers will be inspired to make more really cool caches! Greetings from Germany!

Just letting you know I built this with me son! We had a really nice time building it, we did make it a little bit simpler with less lights. Today is smoke detector day here, and we are all encouraged to change our smoke detector batteries. Thank you so much for all your great videos!

I love your videos, please keep making them. I would love to get some gadget caches in my area, and your videos are inspiring me to build some! I'm also looking forward to visiting WV (someday) to experience some of your hides first-hand!

Thank you, I've posted some notes above on how I painted. Its very simple, just streaking on different colors, but I usually start with a black base coat. I like the look of age.

Really cool idea, but people might try to use process of elimination with the numbers, Have you thought about not filling up all the holes with leds? That way there are a lot of dead numbers so someone can't just guess?

I started with a coat of white primer, then painted it with a coat of black paint. After it drys, I just LIGHTLY paint with white, let it dry and then did some very very light red. I always brush in the same direction. What I am trying to achieve is look of age. Makes each bird houses look very different. No way you can mess up, if you don't like your work just paint over it. You will notice many of my caches have a streaked look, similar to this one.

Tim, what type of led lights did you get? Did you buy a strand and cut them up or are they sold the way they appear in the video? Thanks!

Nice build! I like the pattern you painted. How exactly did you do that? Just mixing colors or a particular technique ?

  • @gadgetcaches

    @gadgetcaches

SEE ABOVE comments to GC.Kaba.ja. No mixing, more just streaking on different colors on top of each, letting each one dry between coats. All brushed on the same direction.

Base paint was black, then I just lightly streaked in the other colors just to make it look good.

did yo put anything on the cache to keep it weatherproof?.. that's a lot of electronics... so my main concern is keeping the inside sealed up from water and erosion

I simply put a bead of calk on my seams, especially the top one where the lid hits the back board. My caches stay extremely dry, not even a bit of dampness.

I make my boxes out of pine, but cedar would even be better, it is just some much more expensive. I haven't had good luck with treated plywood, but there are times the size calls for it. I buy any Good quality paint. I start with a wood primer and then coat with at least 2 coats of Exterior paint.

Tim, I looked at cache code you put and noticed you listed the cache as a size medium, but the log is a micro. I assume you do this because the cache itself is medium sized, correct? I'm trying to see what I should list mine as.

If you put a small log(micro size) in an LARGE AMMO can does it make the cache a micro? NO, the cache size, NOT the log size determines the size of the cache. Good question, thanks for asking. My birdhouses are either all Regular size or they could be "other".
