  • @RezaMatix

    @RezaMatix

    7 жыл бұрын

    KT77 is an El-34 variant. Peter picks the power tubes based on reliability. You can put MANY different tube types in the VH4. I like EL-34's. The KT77 is nice, big low end and nice smooth highs. El-34 has a certain grind i prefer.

  • @TheSteveSteele

    @TheSteveSteele

    6 жыл бұрын

    TheZinnmaster I don’t know the plate voltage of the V4, (I have a Bogner Ecstasy Classic which was designed with to run with a high plate voltage), and finding decent sounding EL34s that could handle high plate voltages became very difficult when the Winged C SED factory closed down a few years back and stock went dry. What a tragedy for EL34 users, IMO. Currently there are no EL34s that I like (that I can use). I tried Ruby El35 BHT and then JJ KT77s and a re-bias but didn’t like the sound. I guess that’s why Bogner has switched most of his high plate voltage designs to KT88s. Point is, maybe that’s what you’re running into but this news is several years old. So it’s just a guess. Reza here would know more than I suppose.
