Can you seal up a seeping fount? I have a small Deitz lantern that I believe is just seeping a little kerosene about the bottom center of the fount. That is a nice lookin lantern you inherited.

I have sealed a few with fuel tank sealer, but that is kind of expensive, I have heard you can use marine spar varnish. Dump it in, slosh it around to coat all the inside of the fount, dump out the excess, and let it dry for a week before adding fuel.

What kind of fuel do use in it

Kerosene, we have a local gas station that still sells it. I get 5 gallons at a time.

What wicks do you recommend?

B&P lamp supply has good wicks. But after a little more use now I'm pretty happy with this cheap Amazon wick!

How long was the wick you put in? I just purchased a Dietz #2 Blizzard.

Probably about 8 inches, I never measure them, just cut off a piece.
