Diet for Psoriasis | How to Get Rid of Psoriasis? | Psoriasis Treatment | Dr. Priyanka Reddy

Psoriasis is one of the commonest skin disorders that cause skin cells to multiply up to 10 times faster than normal. This makes the skin build up into bumpy red patches covered with white scales.
Treatment options available are :
A. Topical treatments:
Creams and ointments applied directly to the skin can be helpful for reducing mild to moderate psoriasis.
Topical psoriasis treatments include:
1) topical corticosteroids
2) topical retinoids
3) anthralin
4) vitamin D analogues
4) salicylic acid
6) moisturizer
B. Systemic medications:
People with moderate to severe psoriasis, and those who haven’t responded well to other treatment types, may need to use oral or injected medications. These medications include:
1) Methotrexate
2) cyclosporine (Sandimmune)
3) biologics
4) retinoids
C. Light therapy:
This psoriasis treatment uses ultraviolet (UV) or natural light. Sunlight kills the overactive white blood cells that are attacking healthy skin cells and causing rapid cell growth. Both UVA and UVB light may be helpful in reducing symptoms of mild to moderate psoriasis.
Diet plays a major role in psoriasis. Making healthy eating choices is one of the best way to manage your psoriasis.

I have psoriasis for close to 30 years. With all due respect to all doctors research, i will tell you what works for me and not many people know if I really have psoriasis now. I take early morning sunshine daily for 30 minutes, apply only coconut oil in body daily before taking bath, eat only vegetarian diet, consume no liquor or tobacco, pray daily, donate monthly, sleep for 8 hours daily and do not take any other medicine. I am a software engineer and not a doctor but following a simple process above worked for me. Psoriasis may never go away or some day it will - accept it, follow basic process and stay happy. You will be much better in a month - try it. If you get better, please help someone else.

I was suffering from thyroid and psoriasis from past few months, before starting any medicine i just observe and scan my lifestyle- 1. Drinking and Smoking 2. No exercise, work stress 3. No fruits and green vegetables 4. Chips, burgers and other packaged food with meat. My suggestion to all is- first change your lifestyle please. Now after 1 month of exercise, proper water intake, good intake of fruit and vegetables and no to alcohol...40% of my problem solved. Discipline is the key

I completely got rid of my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis by eating only grassfeed red meat, seafood and eggs and I have now been free of all symptoms for years now. So I achivied that by doing pretty much the oposite of what you are saying. Many years ago I tried replacing all processed carbohydrates with more vegetables and my inflammation got so bad I had to quit after 3 months. Cutting all vegetables was the biggest health improvement I have ever made. I got my life back thanks to that and I have not looked back ever since.

My currently working theory is that I'm a bit more sensitive to the naturally occuring toxins that vegetables have in them, lectins etc. And by cutting these toxins out of my diet my gut healed and as a consequence my symptoms from all joints and skin also disappeared. Hope this answered you question! :) Have a nice day!

@@meenakash25 actually One should cut down inflammatory carbs and oils and sugar and take healthy fats like Omega 3 fatty acids. Also One should take morning sun for Vit D And keep one's kidneys in good health to help convert that Vit D to active form. Take probiotic fermented food like curd etc. The person who has commented here has taken a carnivore diet which has accidentally filled most of the above conditions. That's why it worked for him. But it can be achieved through a veg diet also.

Most doctors, I went to skin centre always say they do not believe that diet has anything to do with diet. In fact, I had a heated arguement with my in law and husband as they do not believe that nightshades, some dairy and gluten has anything to do with psoarisis. I have overcomed psoriasis twice when I was single through diet and some medication. Now I have psoriasis on my body and scalp. It has not gone away after I got married as my diet has changed. Yes, I have read Dr. Pagano book. I will try to go back to this diet. I wished you are in my country so I can go see you. :) Thank you very much for sharing. Wishing you well!

Psoriasis or any disease in this world is basically a diet problem and stomach issue. For severe cases of psoriasis try to eat only fresh green vegetables, leaving nightshade vegetables for one month in all meals, u will be astonished ur psoriasis issue will be improved dramatically. I especially liked your advice on being careful with supplements and running it by your physician. Giving up nightshades and especially salsa will be the toughest part for me. Also, giving up rye bread. I think it is a good idea to experiment, and eliminate one thing at a time or maybe one group at a time. Though a different issue, I notice that my contact dermatitis on my hands has improved with the consumption of sauerkraut and kimchi (maybe it helps my biome?). Also, when I had to prep for a colonoscopy, my condition nearly went away. Just anecdotes though. I also fast (12 hours during the weekdays) and 24-48 hours on the weekend. Seems to help my contact dermatitis, but not sure about my mild psoriasis. You should always consult a doctor first though, especially if you have a serious medical conditions. There is some question about fasting beyond 12 hours anyway (higher gallstone cases and may not be healthy in general according to Valter Longo). Anyway, experiment but be careful!

This is absolutely right in my case. I was in a soft (not hard to follow) diet. My psoriasis was active but nothing else happened. Then I developed psoriatic arthritis, my right knee got big and hurt so that I couldn’t do what I do best which is riding horses. My knee made me go to a very strict diet and even intermittent fasting (OMAD) and what happened? My knee improved but is not 100%, but almost as a side effect (my goal was to fix the knee) my face lesions disappeared.

Hi Dr Priyanka, Thanks for uploading this Vlog. I suffer with some psoriasis and eczema and over the years I have also become more aware of certain lifestyle factors that trigger it i.e. stress in its many forms, booze and poor sleep quality (disturbed circadian rhythms) After watching your Vlog, you brought to my awareness certain food types to consider avoiding that hadn't really crossed my mind. It was a little saddened about the nightshades as these been a staple part of the Mostly Mediterranean style diet I have recently adhered to. I saw the Chart of foods to include however it seemed a bit limited. I would like to focus the positives rather than the prohibitions, so I could you me, is there a more extensive chart listing all the foods that can be included? This would be highly beneficial tool to help with meal planning and preparation Many thanks

You must avoid all cooked foods. I did what you have posted many years ago and it did nothing. You have to go on a 100% raw fruit diet. Psoriasis is acids burning through the skin. Acids in the body are caused by eating cooked foods. There are two sides to chemistry here, acid and alkaline. Acids burn and corrode cells of the body. 17 years of god awful psoriasis gone in 14 months on 100% raw fruit diet. The reason we have burn lesions on the skin is due to our kidneys inability to filter out acids due to a stagnant lymphatic system, weak adrenals and kidneys. You must go on a 100% raw fruit diet to open up the kidneys so the skin (the third kidney) doesnt take the burden. Things will tend to get worse before they get better. The reason that is, is due to the fruits being so astringent they will unclog the lymphatic system and acids will get stiirred up with nowhere to go except the skin. When the kidneys start filtering again then true healing will happen. It took me 3 months to get filtration. Stop all this selective food removal. It does nothing for psoriasis and will not cure anything until you go 100% raw. Only an uneducated fool would remove fruit from their diet. These western doctors are utter fools and slaves to their text books. Its a disgrace. They have not healed anything with their bs.

Psoriasis is caused due to impure blood which is caused primarily by our imbalanced lifestyle and food style. Secondary reasons which aggravates the disease is stressful environment and how other people look at us creates more depression. So main thing I would say is environmental ambience matters a lot along with good organic native species of food along with good exercises can bring back ur skin to normal condition.
