@@edgytheedg4084 Noooo, what have you done?? One does not simply mention Psytrance while explaining Goa lol.. They will now think it's all related and if they hear Psytrance they will think it's Goa.. That's like if you asked me ''What is underground old school hip-hop?'' and i mentioned Lil Pump, Lil Xan, Migos and Lil Yachty as evolution.. Or ''What is heavy metal?'' and i mention Nickelback.. I think Psytrance is not an evolution from Goa, it's a by-product lol.. When Goa took a shit, it looked down the toilet and said: ''Oh it's just psytrance..'' and it flushed the water.. Some schmuck collected it and thought it's evolution!

Man I miss this era. That really nice happy place between hardcore/jungle and the later Tech Step and Dark Step of the later 90's. Things were still adequately melodic and breaks based but not to absurd degrees but also not so stripped down that you'd get 32 bar sequences of just a step beat and minimal bassline.

I'm finding the early to mid 90's the best era for Drum and Bass and Trance. In both genre's they kept it simple, and let the beats, synths, and samples speak for themselves. Keep it classy. Nice n tidy. Let the sheer volume work it's wonders.

There will never be another time in jungle / dnb where music was so thoughtfully crafted with both atmosphere, soul, mindfulness and careful production. The digital era has produced some good sounds, but nothing beats good old analog mixing and sound output like this. Thank God I was at least able to catch it at the tail end when it was still competent and made you think.
