Diesel Swapped Squarebody 10 Inch Lift Fabrication - Cummins Chevy K20 Ep. 1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

With our lifted and supercharged LT4 swapped K10 Chevy out of the truck, we finally have room to bring in this massive crew cab squarebody. This Cummins swapped 4x4 K20 is insane! But it's not crazy enough for the owner just yet. So he brought it here so we can do a similar lift to our old Gold K10. This time though, instead of flying through the install with a whole bunch of other work mixed in, we're going to give you guys the down and dirty on the process behind fitting and fabricating one of these lift kits into an old truck like this! There's a ton of measuring, grinding, cutting, and welding that goes in to making such a beefy lift kit like this work, and we're going to show you exactly how it's done!

What's interesting is when the bodyside molding trim & emblems on the square body SUVs were redesigned in 1989, the bodyside molding trim & tailgate emblem designs on the square body pickups stayed the same all the way up through 1991 which was the last year for the square bodies.

Nice to see someone take their time the first time. Checking the suspension for worst case with the wheels off and striping the rear down before welding show your attention to detail. Most (on KZread it seems) do suspension checks only with wheels on and rarely do I see vids posted of people stripping heat sensitive components before final welding. 😎

I have a 1991 square body crew cab that came with the 4L80E overdrive transmission from the factory. Mine has 10" lift, and the same exact tire and rims your crew cab has, but my lift is not as custom as yours because it is just a shackle flip rear with a 4" block. The front is just a SkyJacker 8" springs with an ORD 1" 0 rate. It also has an ORD 1" body lift. The drive train is just a new 350 TBI crate engine, and the 4L80E I rebuilt myself with all the tricks like rollorized out put, internal dual feed, etc, etc.

You should always wear full safety gear when welding to prevent burns and injury. BUT, if you notice when we're tig welding, there's a lot less hot, molten metal flying around. Everything is much more controlled than when stick or MIG welding. Definitely wear your leathers cause these burns are no fun!
