Driveway-Built Cummins-Swapped Squarebody, Dave Gambino's 12V M1008 CUCV - Walk Around
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
There are a few builds that stand out from the pack, and Dave Gambino’s (@instagrambino93) super clean M1008 is one of them. Fortunately, he’s not afraid to put in in low, ease out the clutch, and let that big Cummins eat. We caught up with him in Moab, UT during the annual CK5.com squarebody run, Blazer Bash.
Enjoy!
David

Glad you enjoy it! Thank you.
Had I not known the Cummins was never an option in that truck I would have assumed it's factory. So clean, the winch is slick too. I love how well thought out this build is.

What a great guy and so young! AND...what a great guy!
A dream vehicle of mine is an M1028 that looks mostly stock with maybe an early generation Duramax. Or even a Dodge M880 with a 12V Cummins. Anyway, this is a beautiful build top to bottom and I love the M81 Woodland seat covers!
OMG... It's beautiful. (with tears coming down my eyes)

I've ALWAYS wanted a 12V/stickshift CUCV Blazer, but regrettably lack the space/know-how (or time and money to learn) to build one myself. I can work on stuff, but a full drivetrain swap is more than I can handle. As soon as I find a shop whose work I trust, I'm going on the hunt for the right Blazer and donor truck and making it happen. Excellent build!

I have the same truck with a 5.3Ls. With the original TH400. It hauls the Mail!!! I build a new 6.0 LS with a mild cam and a 4l80e that will go in its place. I stole his idea of the upholstered seat and Love it. It would be cool to see how this truck drives with a Cummins. I have been following his build for a while and it is cool to see it here on YT.

I have a similar truck I'm trying to get going. It's a c30 wrecker going k30 with a lift. I have almost everything except the lift. I need clearance and capacity. I have 37s for it. It seems if I go with 6" up I'll still have to trim the fenders. 8" seems like too much lift. I'm leaning more to 4"-6" and fender trimming or reshaping. What would you guys do? It's a shame my fenders are SooOoOooo virgin, rust free, perfect, and pretty. 😩😁😂
@warpillow8775
4 жыл бұрын
X Mo personally I decided to go with 35s so I don’t have to cut haha, and If your doing a k conversation I’d look into a 52, 56 spring swap and shackle flip for the lift to get max performance from the suspension
@xmo552
4 жыл бұрын
@@warpillow8775 Remember I have to carry a load and drive on the streets also. You don't think that setup may be too flexy?
@warpillow8775
4 жыл бұрын
X Mo for that application I’d still go with a shackle flip for the better ride but I wouldn’t worry about trying to stuff 52” springs up front, I’d definitely look into adding bags in the rear but the c30 rear springs should be more then enough, also for the shackle flip diy4x makes a really good kit for it which gives 4-6 inches of lift depending on what shackles ya go with using the stock springs

Great work. I have a dually m1028. Does aunt do covers for other vehicles? I live in VT. Also, do you have a link for the rockhound rock sliders? Do they interfere with the gas tank?

Hey man, really love the truck great job you did with it, just a quick question, I own the same truck, do 275mm tires fit on stock rims without spacers?
@WillometMotorFab
Жыл бұрын
I don't know the stock wheel size, but guessing it's around 16x7. I've seen 285s on those.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I spied 6" springs with an zero rate and high steer swap? Very nice build, and roughly the same direction I have planned for my '86 m1028.
@WillometMotorFab
3 жыл бұрын
It's a 6" spring with a shim to correct the caster. I think that's what looks like a zero rate.
What is that engine from? Thanks in advance.

Just curious, any estimate on how much was spent on the build? It looks incredibly clean and I'm dreaming of doing my own build some day.

Too bad you didn't do a full walk around on everything including setback & engine mounting to run a stock mechanical fan, intercooler setup & AC pump to frame mounting. Exhaust is interesting around the Pam to avoid driveline hitting too.
