Wife and I did the oil in our coach. Same engine! We have a discovery 38N and the back was a bear to pour the oil in. 18-19 quarts is alot of pouring. We opted to get a electric oil transfer pump. OMG now its a snap! FYI the wife held the oil filter and it worked out well!!! Thanx for the video to give us confidence to change our own oil Tank & Alba

OMG. thanks sooo much for making this video. Most, if not all videos on youtube only show oil changes on Gassers or smaller engines. I have a 450 8.9 ISL but your engine set up and position is very similar and you also have the rear Radiator, many of the 450, 500, 600 and 605 HP nowadays, have a side radiator. So I'm loving thing video. Now however, I'll need you to do a video where you change out your AIR filter. LOL. Good luck with that.

@@teamrocherv5468 ....LOL. that's ok. I took 10 min. out of my day and looked at the air filter location from below the rear of the rig and then studied it from the rear side hatch of the rig. It's simpler then what I thought. But you inspired me and gave me courage...that's 1/2 the job right there.

Great job. I'm about to change the oil on my Dutch Star it's 350 HP Cummins 8.3L, it takes around 24 qts of oil and the oil filter is humongous, holding a full gallon of oil. Now I'm wondering if my oil drain plug goes in like yours or if it protrudes out like I'm use to.

Very informative video. I have the 330HP version of this issue (on a Ventana), and I am fixing to do my first oil change, both in the engine - and the ONAN generator. I commented to my wife that I liked the idea of using those furniture blankets vs. just sliding around the concrete. Quick question? Are you using a 'synthetic' version of the 15w-40 oil? I'm just asking your opinion. Many thanks,

How did you get that oil filter loose. looks pretty tight up in there for any type of filter wrench. Was it pretty much hand tight? Thanks and keep that stuff coming. Thanks Scott and I too was somewhat apprehensive at first taking on the task of changing my oil & filter but decided to do so knowing that it is no different than a regular car except much larger and the amount of oil We used wrap wrench to loosen the oil filter www.amazon.com/Tools-3149-Nylon-Strap-Wrnch/dp/B0002SR4MM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1536493471&sr=8-4&keywords=oil+strap+wrench. We also did consider changing the fuel / water separator filters but was concerned about the amount of fuel that would be pouring out was the filter came off and before installing the new one. Ultimately we took the RV to the local Freightliner Sevice Center and had them do the job.

Realize this is a year old, but we’re you able to crawl under with the airbags deflated or did you have to block up the frame to keep it from coming down? We currently have a gas coach but have been looking at diesels and I like doing my own work so I am trying to learn.

@@teamrocherv5468 love the videos. We have a '19 Tiffin Red 340 with the exact same engine/transmission you have. I changed the air cleaner myself last weekend. It was relatively easy. It all depends on location and how long it has been on there. Reading the iRV forum where people have waited years to change it out which often causes the rubber boots to "weld" themselves to the metal simply from years of sitting there. Thanks again.

@@tommyg5346 Tommy, I also have a '19 Tiffin Red 340. On mine, the route to the oil filter from directly underneath is blocked by a couple of coolant hoses. Did you also experience that? Can you describe air filter change procedure? You probably also have a 35 gallon grey water tank rather than the 70 gallon advertised. I'm still battling with Tiffin to resolve that.

@@dportname3462 the air filter wasn’t hard at all to change out. I kept it connected to the air intake hose until I got it on the ground. First I loosened the clamp on the filter exit, release the straps then worked it back and forth until the filter exit side came free from the boot. I used a little plastic tool I have for running wires in my car interior to wedge between the boot and filter to unstick it some. It came free relatively easily. Then lowered it to the ground and removed the hose from the intake side. There is a metal transition piece connected to the hose, making it easier to avoid damaging the hose. Then installed new in reverse order.
