As other people have tried to explain, this song (although I like it myself from a musical point of view) was apperantly written in 1921 by Robert Götz who was a componist who did join the nazi party NSDAP in 1933. The song itself gloryfies conquest from the Teutonic Order that conquered and colonised big parts of what is now part of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland around the 14th century. Then again they established the State of the Teutonic Order which later in 1525 would become to be known as the Dutchy of Prussia. The later Kingdom of Prussia being the driving force in the unification of what now is known as Germany.

How the heck did you stumble across this bizarre piece of pseudo medieval music. The iconography is definitely militaristic and nothing you would sing on a bonfire except you are on a strange infantry holiday trip. Though never heard that song in Germany before but I typically don't visit medieval markets or festivals, so I may have missed that.

its a more obscure song and was seemingly created in 2006 so not reall medieval besides inspired by the knights of old

@@Dante1282 Some sources I googled indicate it was composed in the 1930s by Robert Götz already. So not as juvenile as 2006 but still far from medieval.

Just to your Information. Nazis often use this cross, you have in the text under your video, because they are not allowed to use the cross Hitler used, it is the symbol of the german military, but Nazis often missuse it, it is a bad idea to use it in your videotitle, many could misunderstand that.

The black cross is a coat of arms used by German armed forces (including today's Bundeswehr) in different variations. It dates back to the Teutonic Order in the 11th century. And yes Nazis like to use it for its symbolism. So at least this holds a lot of ambiguity.

@@XM-df6iw It's actually not that old. At least the use of high German Lyrics indicates it's actually not from the medieval times it tries to glorify. And it indeed feels like it could have been used by the Hitlerjugend at the time but that doesn't make it an outright propaganda tune.
