Everything Or Nothing had Dafoe just off playing Goblin in Spider Man 2 years prior. That's almost likely actual reason to make him a movie villain but in this case a game. Dont get me wrong I love Agent Under Fire and Nightfire but to me Everything Or Nothing was a action pack game with the perfect combination or action fighting, shooting, car driving/motorcycle. That's why I consider that a better swan sing and in a way it was.

    It always amazes me how to Moore an invisible car crossed the line when his films had: a voodoo priest, a flying car, a giant who was borderline immortal, a space station complete with laser gun battles in space, him Tarzan yelling and dressing in a clown amongst other things

  • @KyoukiJuuno

    @KyoukiJuuno

    2 жыл бұрын

    Don't forget movie Bond in general always gets equipped with exactly those convoluted gadgets he specifically needs once during the mission... Moore has a bit of a point tho, if you rephrase it to "the more practical and honest some particular bit of a movie is, the more appropriate it feels for the overall Bond theming". Example: Driving a tank through post cold war St. Petersburg in broad daylight while probably killing a lot more innocents than necessary is certainly as unrealistic and over the top as invisible cars, diamond-powered lasers, DNA surgery, power-suits, and space battles, but the sheer practicality and honesty of the tank chase set piece lends enough realism to it that it just works better in the setting. And, well, DAD unfortunately combines so many mismatches with the Bond theming that you just can't avoid rolling your eyes at some. So yea, in that regard it feels like Brosnan was well on the way to become the second clown Bond with DAD, even if that wasn't where he saw himself with the role, or where it would have gone had Brosnan remained. I'm feeling Moore here; but he doesn't exactly have the high ground.

    @@KyoukiJuuno well personally I see that the car wasn’t an issue so much as some of the things in the film such as the poor CGI. Yeah but they were stuck within that loop of Bond doing the same stuff time and time again and they became shamelessly cheesy about it in Brosnan era. There's this Bond Plays and Wins at 7 moves trope of all Bond movies. Bond confontred LeChiffre directly in Casino Royale and argued Vesper about whether it's reckless to do so. He did roughly the same with Dominic Greene, the difference was that Bond's character is way more ominous and to the point and quite more violent in Craig era. Brosnan looks like a beurocrat from treasury in most of his films, save for Goldeneye. Craig looks like a deadly assassin who's really a blunt instrument, he usually is way too masculine and dominant as a character so they went for a very different approach. The template itself is the same, same overall recklessness, same direct and cocksure attitude, same overly charismatic vibe, same British sass with witty jokes. But the end result is almost completely different.

    Brosnan may be the best at delivering the poorly-written one-liners of any of the actors to play the character. Unfortunately, they also wrote such dialogue for people like Halle Berry. And she doesn't have Brosnan's talent for rescuing awful writing; in fact, she compounds it with bad acting. Brosnan is great in this shambles of a movie. Truly wasted talent.

    I love Brosnan as 007. His movie were always visually appealing, but the quality of the movies really went down after Goldeneye. Hell, after the car chase scene with him in the backseat of the BMW on TND, his tenure was a mess. There were a few good scenes in TWINE, but it was clunky and DAD is a bit of a mess.
