I like Max Payne 3 because the original voice actor mocapped everything and they designed Max’s entire look around him. He fully became Max Payne.

​@@la912Probably not. Video games have stunt doubles like how movied and shows do. Professionals do all the stuff like dives, flips, action scenes that require more than just shooting someone. The actor for Max would have just done all the walking motions, of course all the drinking motions, and just pretty much acting out the cutscenes that didn't involve nothing crazy.

As much as i loved Max Payne 1 and Sam Lake, i actually prefer the real actor's face rather than Lake's face. I've got nothing against Lake but his face is just... too nice for a gritty and noir setting this game has.

Well, to be a little more specific, Max's face in Max Payne 1 is directly modeled after Sam Lake, the lead writer for the game. Sam also portrays Max in the graphic novel scenes, as they're real photos.

@@tallyhall656 One of my favorite bits of Max Payne trivia is that, for the graphic novel photos and the in-game faces of the characters, the designers used photos of themselves and random locals in the area where their company was based. (I believe) Mona Sax was portrayed by Sam Lake's girlfriend. And the lady who portrays Nicole Horne in the photos, the main antagonist of the game? That's Sam Lake's mom! Max Payne was one of the last examples of a AAA, "boundary-pushing" game that could be made like a "homebrewed game" by a small team of people on a limited budget.

Awful, repetitive, one-dimensional, totally linear, very short. Play an actual great game. The way it switches you from a machine gun to a peashooter during the endless cutscenes (load screens), and then puts you straight into a gun fight with it, standing out in the open, makes your blood boil.

You should go back and play the first 2, especially the 2nd if you haven’t already. Different styles of gameplay but still both in my top 5 most fun of all time.

Been playing the original max Payne on my iPad

There is a mod for Max Payne 3, that replace ingame model of Max with recreated Sam Lake's model. All the original face mocap is working, original haircut and clothing was adjusted to fit skinnier Sam Lake's model, New York retrospection levels have recreated Max Payne 1 clothing...it looks like this replacement was there from the beginning. Unfortunately, prerendered cutscenes still have original MP3 model... but maybe someday some modder will deepfake Sam's face in those.
