If you want a really obscure thematic detail from this episode, we see that Aang bonded with Appa over an apple as a sign of trust. We actually see Appa become more trustful of Suki when she leaves an apple and several other berries behind when she goes to gather the other Kyoshi Warriors.

Yeah, that scene where he was laughing in his sleep never made sense to me. Now it does.

I cried when Appa went missing it makes me think how painful it is to lose your bestfriend and Appa didn't deserve to go through the abuse he suffered😭

I know! I can’t watch that episode without crying, and this is coming from someone who hardly ever cries over books/TV

There’s also one more detail that I noticed near the end of the episode. When Appa’s flying into Ba Sing Se, you can see the stray cats from the previous episode sitting on a roof top and watching Appa, signifying the fact that they witnessed the Dai Lee capturing him and knowing where to guide Momo.

I'm from Uruguay, Latino América, and I remember watching Avatar as a kid. I remember that I came back from school and put on Nickelodeon to watch the series and it was the episode where Aang finally finds Appa. I cried because of it. It was so beautiful and heartwarming... It's a moment that always makes me cry! Thank you very much for making such a masterpiece as Avatar: The last Airbender 💙

Me too! I remember excitingly leaving school just to turn on the TV to watch the show. And I vividly remember how happy I was when they reunited. I live across the globe from you in Asia and it's surreal how we have the same experience despite that

The scene in the swamp where momo is yeeting things at the swamp people. If you pause at the frame where something impacts the water bender on screen, you can see that Momo chucked the crown that he stole for Katara in book one when she asked him for water.

"What do you know, an umbrella :D" is now one of my favourite atla quotes and I don't know why

In the servant pass, Sokka refused to kiss Suki when he was looking to the moon, refering to Yumi, but it was ok in the morning. Everybody was surprised when they had been told that, but when I watched the episode, I found it very obvious.

Appa’s lost days is for me the most emotional video after ”Tales of Ba Sing Se”.

That last one got me a bit teary eyed

When Appa's missing I cried a lot, it's like when an animal got tortured and fight alone dunno what to do... It's too painful too see🤧

I love them showing the spiritual connection of the flying bison ( original airbenders ) and airbenders.

These dudes never run out of stuff to tell us about ATLA, even after the show ended. W channel.

That story line was so sad. It's even hard to watch now because I love the characters so much. I was so happy when they were reunited.

Aang and Appa are like, soul bonded right? It makes sense they’d have identical dreams especially when separated

I think it’s so cool they kept that umbrella all this time

Did you notice the part where Appa sneeze'bends one of the sand benders sled/boat thingies, they talk about how it was stolen anyway, and leave it there. That's the same sled that the Gaang find and use to move in the desert when they're stuck out there. Which the Gaang is accused of stealing. So Appa saved their lives by leaving that for them 😊

I've seen this show so many times there petty hard to miss.

The last one makes me nearly tearbend, that scene is so sad

Out of all the episodes this is the only one that makes me cry especially with momo because it shows how deeply animals can love each other and I feel so bad for Appa for his hard time.

Appa's lost days were literally some of the most stressful times of my childhood.

This was literally THE saddest episode in this series for me, I felt so bad for Appa, I almost cried. Such a gentle giant full of feelings. An emotional ride 😢

In Germany this episode is titled ,,Armer Appa” which means ,,Poor Appa”. As a kid I instantly knew because of that, that this will be a really sad episode.

i actually did notice these little details and its one of the many reasons i love the show. growing up the story felt more real. so many shows seem forget the smaller details in later episodes where as with ATLA there are so many continuity details, the story flows a lot better

This show is pure love and passion.

Obvious things everyone notice after watching and rewatching Avatar over and over again on Nickelodeon and Netflix.

Wanted to add something that i just notice is that Aang sleeping if you look at his shadow it in the shape of a bison

I just noticed, the far shot of Aang dreaming about holding appa and laughing, his shadow looks kinda like a bison

Never realized some of these! I haven't watched that episode in my last few rewatches... It makes me so sad 😥
