The Weeknd put that Cerrone song on his Apple Music radio show when he released “Take My Breath”, so yeah he was definitely inspired but he played the original for his fans, as well as other disco songs, on that show to show where he got the inspiration from. He went for that sound and he nailed it

Newsflash: Artists listen to music all the time and it influences their tastes just like the rest of us. Yep, sounded 70s but prog rock and all that has been around for years. Hardly new. Half the ATARI games sounded like Gary Numan and a Dracula movie or a penny dreadful circa 1910. We are all magpies. OMG Cerrome sounds awesome might look them up. That whole disco sound is still good in 2023.
